Finally the connections between Lara and Vitaa which will emphasizes the role of Slimane. Lara and Vitaa recently connected thru Slimane. Slimane and Vitaa are best friends since Slimane erupted on the french music scene by winning THE VOICE FRANCE 2016. Slimane is probably the best male vocalist in France currently, he has released 4 albums and they all were #1. Slimane did cover Vitaa's "A Fleur de toi" in his blind auditions, and completely reinvented the R&B hit from Vitaa into a deep and powerful ballad. Slowing down the pace, he revealed the beautiful lyrics. Vitaa was hugely impressed and after the voice contest they performed this song in duet together, the slower version created by Slimane. The duet was a huge success. They clicked so well together that they released together an album made only with duets and it became the #1 album in France. Now they are back in their solo careers but they are still the best friends. Lara and Slimane are also now very good friends. Lara contacted him when she wanted to create a new album devoted to the HEALING theme. She thought that Slimane and her had a lot in common in their story, facing different types of pain and having recovered from it. Maurane provided the best harmony for Lara's voice but sadly she passed away too early. Lara has sung this with others and it's such a beautiful song, all of her versions are great. She did two very popular performances of this with Maurane. Both are perfect. You should listen to both. The one with guitar accompaniment is very special. The artistry is just out of this world.

Now let's discuss the tv show context: this french tv show is named "La boîte à secret" which means The Secret Box. In this show, 3 artists are invited and discuss their life and biography. But 3 guests for each artist are coming as a surprise in relation with the story being told. Vitaa had just explained that her mother is sicilian and she has been musically educated with influences from French rap, R&B and also great voices from France, italy and sicilia when the TV host interrupted her saying: "What if I told you that the first guest here shares with you this sicilian heritage? and that you are used to mention her as one of your influences?" Despite these revealing hints, Vitaa had no clue who was there (maybe she thought about Lara but dismissed it, thinking she could not hope to face Lara). And then it was Lara, who as Vitaa has a sicilian mother. Lara is a lyrical soprano and always has sung the duet with the soprano voice, but here she trained 1 week to sing the duet for the first time in the Contralto voice, the voice of Maurane. Vitaa is indeed also a soprano and has even a higher register than Lara. Note that Vitaa knows the lyrics of the duet by heart (almost all vocalists in France do, such a famous duet as I said in the other comment). The duet was incredible but Lara & Maurane remains the absolute reference.

I love close harmony. And this song means a lot to me. Fascinating to hear Fabian sing the alto. Having sung the soprano line hundreds & hundreds of time, I imagine it can't be easy with all that muscle memory. I've always been impressed with her skill & generosity as a duet partner. Always said she's everyone's perfect partner. With my discovery of Maurane, I knew I found Fabian's perfect match. Gorgeous contralto. She & Fabian were _exactly_ in synch on this song. (I personally prefer their live performance that does NOT have the guitarist. But I know I am in the minority.)

But the chemistry and harmony between Maurane, Lara and Felix's guitar is just perfect. Maurane's voice is unique in the alto register. This beautyfull duet reminds me of an israeli duet by yardena arazi and yehoram gaon Adam Aher ( another person just like Mon autre) and by the way yardena was in ths eurovisiin in 1998 when lara fabian was. She sang Ben Adam ( human)

It may just be me but I have noticed that in every single one of her duets Lara never seems to respect the artist with she sings and though her natural power could easily outdo that partner. She is loved and respected by artists probably because she respects them. Idk about European shows being nice haha french interviewers of the early 2000s were very disrespectful to her at times. Making distasteful comments about her body on live television and stuff like that. Look up the interviews she did in Quebec, they're always so gracious to her.
