I had a chance years ago in staying in a high rise in Honolulu to observe all the various activities in the harbor below me and this extremely violent accident with the bridge collapse and the giant transport vessel has at times seemed almost unbelievable in scope. It has been a unique education to observe all that is occurring to make the harbor functional again and to see all the complex engineering and the various cranes, support vessels, the daring specialists in dismantling the metal bridge parts and going through the recycling of damaged materials. I am grateful for this opportunity. I regret the tragic loss of life and for the brave recovery for loved ones to find closure.

In steel construction, a spud is a tapered punch used to align steel through the bolt holes until it is secured with the appropriate fasteners. I’m imagining what they are referring to as spuds, would be steel columns, lowered to the sea bed to locate the barge. A no-spud zone being a area with underwater obstructions and or features at risk of damage from the spuds, like the mentioned gas line.

Hi Captain Andy, I was Late getting here, But I have A few Questions. 1. That Ship we saw going out. What are they Transporting? 2. Why can't they Use their own Power but still be guided by the Leading Tug Boat? 3. On a Personal note: Are You Native to Baltimore, or some other Place? Now, Information I want to share with you, is that according to the news, The Dali is going to be in your area for (i think) a few weeks or so, and then they said that the Dali will be transported I guess using it's own power, and head down to Norfolk, Virginia. And once there, will get a big but temporary repair, is that right? Anyway, Thanks for showing us some activity. I like to wait for the live is over, so I can make a better comment. I will check back again next time. Blessings. Terry

Not sure what was in the Ship's hold.Probably best to let the tugs maintain the headway. St. Simons Island, Ga. 8th generation. If the ship is deemed seaworthy under it's own propulsion, I don't see why it would not . Thanks T

As it navigates south, the ship will have to pass under the Bay Bridge linking Annapolis to the Delmarva peninsula, and I have seen reporting suggesting that if it is sailing empty it will be too high in the water to clear that bridge. But I have not independently verified that reporting.
