Hard for me to put Chris Stapleton into a specific genre. It is also unfair to do so. Should he be on the Country chart, Blues, Soul? He needs his own genre...the winner of the Grammy in the Chris Stapleton catagory is Chris Stapleton. His music just does not fit any category nor does it need to fit any category limitations. I have listened to them all, and trust me, he aint Country. His music has elements of almost every genre ever. There is just nobody else quite like him. He is a genre.
