Dumplings are traditional Lithuanian food as well as very common in Eastern Europe too, when I visit my mum I know that a plate of dumplings will be waiting for me on the table :) . Also, you can microwave the beetroot soup if you want it hot which is nice for winter, but it's also perfect for the summer to have a cold soup, so refreshing!

u can easily "fix" taste of "zepelins" , if you slice it and bake from both sides on pan. and i would use a LOT of sour cream with bit extra salt and maybe baked onions as sauce.... also for cabbage rolls and dumplings - saur cream (and potatoes)!! would not even try without boiled potatoes on the side :P cold soup is eaten with hot potatoes, just lead every bite of hot potato with sip of that soup ;)

I lived in Lithuania for about twelve years. I never developed a taste for the Cold Beet Soup nor the "cepelinai". The kolduni is absolutely delicious!! I make this at home now. Cabbage rolls are tasty as well. Homemade is best!!! Was fun watching you two!! Made me smile!!!

Maybe it's the hardcore lithuanian in me, bet Šaltibarščiai and Cepelinai are my comfort foods. Maybe it's not the most tastiest thing in the world (our foods are typically pretty bland) but it makes me feel at home whenever I eat it 😋

Love your reactions and how you pronounced the food! But you missed out the garlic fried bread, and yes the "beet soup" is the most popular. Also if anyone noticed eating at family dinners, there is always potato is every Lithuanian food.

With 'zepelinai' the potato is like put in some sort of blender and then in this net with tiny holes, the u strain the water out and u have the 'shredded' potato, u put it around like shredded beef and i thinm u out it in a pan then, but i really like it but i dont feel like its the best and like it should be the national food
