I've been waiting for this one. I personally think this is her best album... on all fronts; lyrics, melodies, instruments and vocals. Perfection

I'm Brazilian and I've been stanning Lana for at leats 10 years. All I can say is: you've gotta feel Lana, you can't just listen to her songs. I love your reactions cause you're smart enough to understand Lana's lyrics and songs in general, and you're HONEST. Keep going, please 🇧🇷❤️

Mariners apartment complex isn't about her dad, it's about an ex of Lana who assumed Lana was always sad because of her music. She wrote this to her ex to tell him she is a strong woman, strong enough to be his "man"

It ties both topics into the song. "You took my sadness out of context at the Mariner's Apartment Complex" she's referencing her now ex bf, the one who got married to another woman while in couples therapy together with Lana, Sean Larkin. The chorus is referring to her father. His album title is "lost at sea" 😊

The album cover is literal Art; the background is painted. Also, Norman Rockwell was American Painter know for his introspective portrayals of the american dream. She mentions in the song "the greatest", that "L.A. is in flames", which it is in the album cover. One of the themes of this album highlights the current state of American Culture, particularly L.A. contrasting the Culture that was being Portrayed by Norman Rockwell's Paintings from the 1920s to now (2020s). Around a century later.

She sounds like that in "California" because a specific emotion, i think of it as a tired desperate call to someone, she wants them to know that she'll always be there if they ever came back to California.

The 'black narcissist' bit is wordplay related to the movie Black Narcissus (which is named after a perfume). I think she's talking about depression from the context. Lana did respond to people speculating about the lyrics, and insisted that she was not talking about race.
