Accurately diagnosing the spread of cancer has always been a difficult task for physicians. In addition to the uncertainties that patients experience, biopsies to remove and analyze tumors are painful and invasive. Now thanks to a landmark 5-year clinical trial, the use of "liquid biopsies," which involve a simple blood draw, has been shown to accurately detect the spread of certain kinds of breast cancer.
