I've already heard greatest hits (not least from my own country, Croatia)! That this WC was fixed, cuz of ties with Quatar to PSG(??!!),my homies were convinced that Croatia would've won if penalty wasn't given to Argentina ( although they did shoot once at the goal🤪)! And maybe for 80 minutes of the final, France didn't wanna play also! Messi always was very good for Argentina. He won U20 WC, Olympics, carried his team to 4 finals including WC 2014. Four finals with that almost deadwood team. But haters were blind. Now he has won everything with Argentina, haters are crying even more, but this time hiding in the bedroom.

I wouldn’t say we were deadwood, but we were never functional from 2010-2016. That was due to the coach omitting key players like Cambiasso, Zanetti in 2010; Banega, Pastore, Tevez, Cambiasso were not used in 2014 in positions of need. Even in 2018 it was inexcusable to not play Papu, Dybala, Icardi, Lo Celso and De Paul over Meza & Pavon. If life was fair, Messi would have 4-5 world cups but I’ll still take the one.

He is the greatest, not because of his stats or his money or his trophies, but because when you see him play you can’t help but be absolutely mesmerized by the things he can do. I agree 👍💯%. I don't like ⚽️🥅🏟 football because I suck at it but I respect his ability to maneuver the ball the way he does. I used to think football ⚽️ was a lame sport but now I see it's not an easy sport compared to baseball 🤔. I'm good at baseball but I suck when it comes to s⚽️ccer or football. However you want to say it. I'm from the states 🇺🇲. We call it soccer ⚽️ in the states. One thing's for sure there's a lot more injuries in the field when it comes to soccer ⚽️ vs baseball ⚾️.

Those who criticized Messi, or even criticizing now, always knew that Leo is way better than their favorite player. They always knew it ,just could not accept it.

GOAT does not mean he would dribble past all 11 opponents and score in every single match. He is a human after all and will have a few bad games. Moreover, Football is a team sport, need a good team to support and back him up. I have seen many times, Messi creates the best of chances only for the striker to misfire. Also, Messi has always been the architect of the goals rather than being the main striker himself. But he is a genius, he has the best skills and vision for the game. Let's forget about stats and everything else - the angles he can see, the way he can dribble past the players, the passes he can make -- he is the GOAT. Period.

Messi is faithful to the club Barcelona, that is a virtue to be respected. He was there when Barcelona was awesome and remain there when Barca was crappy. That says a lot of his character.

He was a monster of a freekick taker all the time. There's no one that would parallel him in freekicks in this era. Penalties and specially penalties in tiebreakers is often something that is a psychological issue than a technical one. If we look at the number of high impact penalties missed by him - one against Croatia (which was in group stages in 2018) and one in 2016 against Chile. I would like to remind all that the greatest Diego missed once in 1990, Kylian Mbappe missed one in the last Euros, Roberto Baggio missed the all important one in 1994, Ronaldinho missed 13 penalties, so its all there in the mind. The reason he converted all penalties in 2022 was that Leo was in a different mindset altogether. he switched on beast mode since the Poland miss.

Messi is lethal in scoring but he also has the most assists, dribbles and all other stats that cannot be replicated by one player. Ronaldo also is an all time great but people who understand soccer will recognize that Messi has other aspects in his games like passing, dribbling, opening plays, through balls, free kicks those are all GOAT level.

The argument that "Ronaldo searched for new challenges while Messi always stayed at his comfort zone" has always been weird to me. While it's true that Ronaldo tried different teams in his career, they make it look as if he played for mid-tier teams that he took to the top by himself. Puting Sporting Lisboa aside, he always played for the best teams in their respective leagues. When he joined Juventus they had been winning the Scudetto 7 years in a row, and although Man U flopped they had a top-tier team when he joined in 2021.

Juventus won the Scudetto again like they did 7 years in a row before CR7, but couldn't win a Champions League with him; and MU flopped miserably both in EPL and UCL. Just finished watching the video: It's a good thing that this particular host was, at the least, able to admit that Messi isn't a fraud. In fact, Messi was never a fraud. There are just people who are blindsided by, what I call, a "highlight mentality" - and he this host was one of them. Like I mentioned in a prior comment, I would really love to debate the Messi v Cristiano debate, but there are things that need to be said and mentioned when it comes to comparing players and, probably more importantly, understanding the context of a player, their matches, their style of play, how they score goals and collect assists, and if the player(s) show a strong enough influence in their matches, and if not "then why?". There are many important things to discuss, and it would really be wonderful to debate them.

Ronaldo didn't even manage to go through quarterfinal. Stuck in round of 16. The only time they were able to reach quarterfinal was when they benched him.

I really loved how people never take into the context of anything, and rather decide the player by either stats, or the fact that someone didn’t win. Ronaldo did indeed win a major senior mens international trophy before Messi. But it seems like people forget that Portugal were scraping through those knockout rounds and that Ronaldo literally didn’t win that trophy by definition. He got subbed off and didn’t play the final.-not his fault he got injured, but clearly his team was able to step up. If Messi had got injured in either 2014,2015,2016 Argentina would’ve been blown out of the water in the 90 minutes of all those matches. He is argentinas main deterrent when it comes to not wanting Argentina to counter attack. Seriously, Argentina were only able to win when Argentina finally had talented youngsters and an amazing Messi.

As an Argentina supporter living in Canada, we have a lot of fans who don’t really have adept soccer knowledge. Many people thought Canada would top the group at this World Cup, and many are saying they will win the 2024 Copa America over Argentina!
