I'm a Brazilian Messi fan and as many Brazilians who live on the border, I crossed a bridge to watch the final in Argentina. I'll tell you there were just as many of us Brazilians as there were Argentines, all supporting this man and hoping to see the greatest player in activity lift the WC trophy. The energy was unmatched, you could almost feel the change in the atmosphere everytime he had the ball, everyone held their breaths. All Argentine players were crucial to their win, DiMaria and Dibú especially, but it's wonderful to see it all upclose and realize he's the one uniting everyone, fans or teammates, his entire nation and all of Latin America (at least!). This man's a force of nature. When Montiel scored the final penalty, there was beer and all sorts of drinks flying all over, families hugged, strangers hugged, this Brazilian guy to my left just walked over to an Argentine dude who was crying and hugged him as if they'd known each other their whole lives! It was freaking amazing. There'll always be rivalry in soccer, but what Messi has been able to do, having people of rival nations cheer on Argentina and party like brothers and sisters, I cannot picture another athlete doing in a foreseeable future. Also, there were 2 French men at the bar, and whenever Mbappe scored, they not only celebrated, but looked everyone around dead in the eye, laughing in mockery. It was great to see Argentina and the goat wipe such cocky smiles off some French fans' faces, like the ones in the video

I am a huge Messi fan! He played his role to perfection. But i have to say, Di Maria was just as crucial. He won the penalty and scored that beautiful second goal. That whole Argentina side played their hearts out. I screamed until i lost my voice when they won

This match gave me chills, so much emotion, so much drama, so much quality from both sides, truly one of the greatest matches in the history of the competition

A moment which made a grown up man cry like a kid. In 2014 I cried like a small kid who lost his toy and my wife understood that she is second to Argentina. So in 2022 she and my kids joined me to cheer on Messi and Co. In 2014 his dejected look at the trophy broke my heart. In 2022 his kiss on the trophy made my heart swell with such a pride that it felt that my chest could barely contain it. Emotions over flowed like any thing. I could feel a mountain being lifted off my shoulders. This game, it will kill me

@arulthomas3980 - very well written with your emotional feelings and even though I am not an Argentinian, I felt similar heartbreak for Argentina and Messi in 2014 as super Mario made that brilliant strike in the 113th minute and broke Argentina in that final and precious chances were missed earlier in that very close final including that terrible stuff up by Gonzalo Higuaïn. Messi had to patiently wait another 8 years to have his moment of glory like Maradona who seems to have done some special magic from heavens and seek additional luck from God for Argentina as France were a super power team and it still astonishes me how they got beaten in this very close and gutsy World Cup final last year (Dec 2022). Anyway I just enjoyed so much for Messi. 🥀🌷💙🇦🇷🤙

I did not cry when argentina Messi lost the final 2014 WC yet I cried this time 2022 when I watched the match live on tv and even now on youtube replays Tears of joy and happiness.

This was a great game, full of suspense, one of the most complicated scenarios! Still giving me chills !
