Messi is the greatest of all time and it isn’t even close, that’s what makes him frightening. He has all the sauce of Maradona, all the goals of Pele vs much stronger teams in the modern day, and record breaking assist numbers that CR7 could only dream of when he sobs that somebody else scored instead of him. On top of it all, Messi has scored multiple once-in-a-lifetime goals, where he literally dribbles past 5-6 players and scores, multiple being from the halfway line. @@lroadzl1288 Messi has a death grip on Barca and can basically choose he wants to come and go. The elite players like Griezmann, dembele, etc have been allowed by Messi. So you can't say "Barca have failed him." When he's been very influential with who comes in and who leaves. Besides if the problems were there to see for 2-3 years, why did he not leave then? He didn't leave because he was winning things. Now after one season of not winning anything Messi is ready to quit. Messi is very much a situational kind of guy. If it's going well Messi will play like a God. If the going gets tough, then Messi will want to run.

To the ronaldo side, I think we're already seeing a player very much like him in haaland at least in terms of numbers. He currently has 21 goals in 15 games in the ucl, if he keeps this up, not considering he can even still improve, or go to a elite team with better supporting cast, the chances of him breaking ronaldo's ucl records are very real, if he can stay largely injury free ofc. So, if lets say he does end up breaking all of ronaldo's goalscoring records going down a similar career path with various clubs, would he/would he not be considered better than ronaldo?

Ronaldo is the goat. Ronaldo is faster, stronger, better weak foot, better at headers, better at shooting (and long range as he has more 40+ yards). Messi is better at dribbling and assisting. Ronaldo is also known as Mr.UCL which is the hardest football competition hence very different to scoring hat tricks against getafe. And messi fans talk about a higher goal ratio but ronaldo was a midfielder for 5 years. If you compare their goal ratios when they were both forwards, ronaldo’s is higher. Finally, Ronaldo has proven in every league he was a part of. I mean look at messi now struggling in the 6th best league and Ronaldo at 36 in the hardest league. And messi fans if you come back with United are 7th in the league, you clearly don’t watch united cos he gets no service and the team is just out of form rn. People think it's amazing that he was able to overcome Cuadrado's Colombia, but let's actually look at who he faced and the recent history of who else won those awards. The previous top scorers were Everton for Brazil, Vargas for Chile and Guerrero for Mexico. Can you even name me 5 world class players you've seen play for Ecuador and Colombia in your entire life? He beat a bunch of opponents with zero world class footballers, but because he's always failed to win what he should've won multiple times in the past, people pretend that's the same as beating France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, England, Netherlands and Belgium. The only South American teams in the Top 10 FIFA rankings are Brazil and Argentina, and Messi plays for one of them. The last time a South American team besides those 2 won a World Cup was over 70 years ago.

Then he had a ridiculous Madrid team while Messi was alongside Ousmane upfront Pjanic in midfield and Sergi Roberto at RB lol. Messi constantly got the most g+a every year despite all this yet FIFA favoured trophies won which were thanks to the teams.
