But our beloved Messi own high profile international trophy after 2020 where CR7 own in 2016 but still we were part of the debate who is the greatest between them since CR7 moved to real. Remember the clear chance Higuain got in the final of 2014. 2018 4-3 defeat to France. But all started after winning the Copa, the whole world and people who know abt football got the feeling Argentina will make it in Qatar. If you watch Messi play, you will see he’s constantly scanning the field. He keeps walking when he doesnt have the ball and is continuously looking to make space and shape attacks. We will agree to disagree. Messi and Renaldo both do a reasonably good job here. However, Messi is the master on this point not Renaldo. Renaldo is primarily make space only for himself. Messi is dynamically shaping the attack for all attackers as a single unit in addition to himself.

I don’t think critics understand. For the young Messi scoring more would be all that mattered to him, but now nearing retirement and much more mature he’s understood that there’s more to football than just scoring. Messi had always considered himself as playmaker and thats the scary part. Back then when he was younger he had more options to go solo because of his youth and he was calculatively confident that he could make it, but I felt like he did so not because it matters to him but he saw going solo break in was a pretty viable option, in a calculative way. Again this is not a debate or argument, more like a discussion and I can be wrong and you could be right. I just love how Messi move his head around all the time scanning the field and surroundings, then move to the position he wants to get the ball and then make the set up play. Saw one of MagicalMessi's video where Messi explained his gameplay and moves, coupled with the actual game recap. And now Messi is 35 and going in solo isnt viable anymore due to ageing, so the playmaker role is still the same and he rather make the same set up in the same gameplay mechanism but this time, he let the younger players do the running. Now typing this it reminds me of Alvarez taking Messi's set up and just flyyyyyyyyy into the penalty zone. Messi, GOAT, he played a different game.

Younger Messi was not all about scoring. He was always the team player and playmaker that could also score goals and his play and moves were simply magical. That's who he has always been. That is what he kept doing even in this world cup. Captaining a team means leadership skills and making everyone execute the manager's game plan. He has played an incredible World Cup this year. He scored in each game of the knockout stage, a feat no one else ever did. He not only scored but made wonderful plays like the assist vs. The netherlands (he was the only one who saw something that simply wasn't there...the space to find his teammate) or the other one vs. Croatia. He was remarkably calm during the final. His first penalty during the game was really difficult to take. That ball weighed like a giant boulder. He took part in the second goal, too and he scored (with the "wrong" foot) the third goal. Again, he took another, even heavier penalty and scored. He played at his best, in his most important game ever. By winning the world championship, he lifted an incredible weight off his shoulders. What would Maradona have been if he hadn't had drug problems or a wild life? The answer is Leo Messi. The greatest of them all, a true football world heritage, every football fan deep down in it's heart wanted to see him win.

It's sad to see Messi's haters, so much hate is going to hurt their health... it's better to recognize how great Messi is and stay light in the heart, right?

Not a Messi hater, but definitely a Messi skeptic: I'd like to see some transparency about the impact of human growth hormone on Messi's career. Messi was always a player that builds or help build up an attack and finishes it or assists it. Even at his young days . At psg he didn’t change . He just lost his pace but his accurate long passes replaced his pace

It way more has to do with the fact scaloni revamped the Argentinian squad and injected it with fire structure and youth. This Argentina squad plays with Messi not around him and it has made all the difference.

To think football is all about goals is enough for me to just throw someone's opinion out of the park.Those who have seen maradona play, ronaldinho play they consider them as goats not bcoz of the number of goals they scored but how they scored .Number of games played in football are increasing each season for money purposes, at the end when you sit down after everything is said and done you would cherish the moments and not the numbers.
