Hyenas are more intelligent, better hunters, and more durable than lions. The one thing they _aren't_ is stronger. In a 1v1 they stand no chance.

And they aren’t better hunters either. When you have 20+ predators on your side you can out run anything. But give the the same hunting numbers as lions and they aren’t taking down anything worth an hour of food. They’re two very different predators with different social structures so I don’t think you can make an accurate assessment on their differences in intelligence

Hyenas are not better hunters than Lions. Hyenas are literally scavengers. Lions also steal food when they have the opportunity. But, they mostly hunt especially lionesses. Lions are more intelligent and better hunters.

It’s fascinating how psychological intimidation can affect the outcome. On one hand, hyenas need large numbers to challenge lionesses, but the tables can turn in a heartbeat when male lions are involved. Even young males that have grown larger than an adult lioness, can make hyenas think twice.

Hyenas don’t need large numbers against Lioness at all, I’ve seen just 2 hyenas dominate Lioness and there’s also videos of just 1 Hyena fighting Lioness, there’s also many videos of multiple Lionesses attacking 1 Hyena and they can never kill the Hyena so somethings not adding up, could it be that you’re just a delusional Lion fanboy? I think so 😂

Though I am a lion fan...I think hyenas population is growing faster than lions...They are smart, robust, tough, even if lions catch hyenas by neck, it's still a much difficult and time taking task for lions to suffocate them to death...Also they mostly live in big clans of 20-30, it isn't too easy for even male lions to kill their babies or subadults...They become too aggressive when it comes to life of their companion...Lions get few chances to kill some of them when they are in good numbers with adults and hyenas aren't in outnumbering clans...

I respect hyenas immensely but I think run in fear from those lionesses because not only were they huge but there was big chance of attracting a bigger male lion to the fray.

Don't know where you get the intelligence thing from since there is no experiment showing lions to be anything but average for a big cat. Please source this. There is however evidence for spotted hyenas being around as intelligent as dolphins and chimps though. Spotted hyenas are threats to lionesses, not prey, and are rivals on a species-wide level.
