    Hi - cool video. I have 2 questions. I have my cable company's high speed internet integrated modem-router which is sitting in my living room. My bedroom is exactly 180 degree opposite to my living room with a kitchen/washer/dryer/washroom in between. If I buy 1 linksys box, I assume, it will connect to my cable highspeed modem-router gateway via ethernet. So probably, Linksys 1 will be sitting very close to the modem-router. How does this setup help me get better signal in my bedroom? Don't you think I will need a minimum to 2 linkysys Velop boxes , 1 next to router, second in bedroom?

    Yes, you would want at least two Velop nodes. You can buy them as a single unit, two-pack or three-pack. Your only limitation with the second node is to be close enough to a wall outlet to plug it in for power.

    Hello! I'm happy the video was helpful for you. Each node has two ethernet ports, so you could connect node one to node two and node two to node three via ethernet if you wanted to.

    I think you have one node now and you want to add a second and third node? I have not tried connecting them with ethernet to each other but I think it should work the same as if they are connected wirelessly. They should all share the same network with the same name as before. If you try this setup, please let us know how it goes.

    Hi, are the black color, the same? I got 3 used black color, but I can never see the purple light, but only blue as soon as I power it, then sometimes green, then slow blinking red. I have reset them several times by holding the reset button for 10 or more seconds. I have a gateway (modem+wifi router) Thanks in advance.

    So the first one you plugged into your modem, after you are connected can you unplug it and move it somewhere else. Or does it always have to stay connected to your modem.

  • @ItsNabeel

    @ItsNabeel

    7 жыл бұрын

    One node always has to stay connected to the modem, so its placement is limited to the length of the ethernet cable. The other two nodes only need to be plugged into a wall outlet for power, so you can place them where you need them. The best part about this system is that you don't lose signal from one node to the next.

    I have a linksys Dual band router I am replacing with the Velop. It has two different SSID I use to operate my home automation devices such as Cameras, Alexa, printers laptops, ipads etc. How do i program these SSIDs into Velop when it asks for only one SSID during setup.....Thanks

    When setting my Velop up, I completely disconnected my old router and started from scratch with the new network. I used my smartphone data instead of wifi to use the Velop setup app. It was annoying connecting everything to the new system, but that was probably the easiest way to do it.

    Once you hook up all your nodes which network do you connect your devices to? The Mesh SSID or the routers SSID you've been connected to?

  • @ItsNabeel

    @ItsNabeel

    I found it less confusing to disconnect my old router before setup and rely on my phone's data during setup. You are going to want to connect to the mesh SSID though, as it will be replacing your old router.

    I watch the video and I love how it works ... in my villa the problem is not that in some parts there are dead zones that has weak signal and slow speed and zones near the router are awk .. No .. in my case .. I got a lot of clients . 20 in number.. so it makes the whole WiFi slow .. even near the router itself .... can it improve that .!!!!!!!!!

  • @ItsNabeel

    Daniel Nel this system should help to improve your system. It uses MU-MIMO technology which stands for Multiple Users - Multiple Input, Multiple Output. It claims that you can use up to 50 devices simultaneously. It also uses 3 bands to spread things out and can handle up to 2.2 Gbps. Another mesh system that people seem to like is the Netgear Orbi. They are similarly priced. I'm curious what kind of router you have now and what internet speeds?

    Setup question - Do I have to disable the router functionality of my existing cable high speed internet gateway and make Velop the router (so that Velop is now incharge of DHCP & giviing IP address to devices)? Which mean I have to set up my existing high speed internet gateway in passthorough mode?

  • @ItsNabeel

    Hi punjabiexplorer. I am not 100% sure about compatibility with a modem/router combo unit, but using the combo unit as a router passthrough sounds like it could work. Otherwise you would need to switch to a standalone modem.

    Warning! Don't buy those things. Unless you want a Wi-Fi you need to restart at least once a day or manually do the channel search several times a day and your Wi-Fi speed is still way under 3G (even if you have fiber connected with 200/200), that is!

    From my ISP I have a router/modem/wifi combo all in one. Will this work with existing wifi? Who will be running the show, the Velop or my existing wifi with an already established SSID? I just want to extend my wifi coverage in the house, maybe this won't work for me and I just need a wifi extender..

  • @ItsNabeel

    @ItsNabeel

    5 жыл бұрын

    If you want to keep the wifi from your current modem/router combo, then a wifi extender is the way to go. You can use Velop with your current modem/router combo, but you would want to disable wifi on your current router and use the wifi from the Velop only. The connection would just pass through the modem/router combo into the Velop and use its SSID. You should be able to use your phone with the Linksys app to make the switch over to the Velop wifi.

    Question? Would it be possible to connect Each Node to their own dedicated Ethernet port for an even stronger connection? Thank you for your reply

    No, the main router gets the hard line then the nodes are essentially extenders. I ordered mine today directly from linkysys and got 40% off plus free shipping. Seems like a solid setup and for $259 shipped vs $399+tax i was sold. They also told me 90 day no questions asked return policy so if i dont like it they will be getting it back.

    how does this compare to the ORBI? It's said that ORBI is the BEST out....but this is NEWER....how does this compare? The ORBI has a dedicated band for the two devices to communicate with each other and then the other is for the actual connection....does this work the same way? Is this better? how does it compare to orbi?

  • @ItsNabeel

    The Velop works differently than the ORBI. They handle backhaul and routing differently. Depending on your needs, one may be better than the other. Here is a link to an in-depth comparison of the two devices: www.mbreviews.com/linksys-velop-vs-netgear-orbi/

    Help! I need help setting up my network. I want to make sure i am getting the most out of my network and need help connecting these devices in the right order. Here is what i'm working with, -(ISP) Spectrum 400 mbps down/400 mbps up -Modem 4 ports with wifi (wifi can be turned on or off) -Router, Linksys EA9500 Max Stream -Router, Linksys Velop 3pk -Switch, TP Link 24 Gigabit Switch (TL-SG1024D) I have about 17 devices in my house that can be wired through ethernet and 5 that are wifi only. Thank You so much!!

    Victor Medina sorry for such a late reply! Your comment got routed to spam for some reason?! Hopefully you have your system set up as follows: Spectrum ISP going into your modem. Modem going into your Linksys EA9500 Max Stream router. Max Stream router going into your TP Link 24 Gigabit Switch. All devices that can easily be plugged in via ethernet should first utilize your Max Stream router ports. Once those fill up, connect additional ones to your switch. The rest can go on your wifi. You shouldn't lose anything by leaving your other ports on your modem open. This way you can control all devices through your Linksys Max Stream app, even the ones connected to your switch. Is that the route you took? Again, sorry for the delay in responding.

  • @ItsNabeel

    @ItsNabeel

    7 жыл бұрын

    I don't think there is a limit on how many nodes can connect, however I believe that the network will slightly slow down with an increase in nodes due to handling of backhaul. The three node system that I use works very well for me.

  • @ItsNabeel

    You will want a modem that will optimize your available internet speed. So if your internet service provider is giving you 50 mbps speed or higher, you will want to be sure your modem can handle that data speed without becoming a bottleneck. The Linksys Velop should work with any modem though.
