Man, I hope Mike Shinoda and Linkin Park never stops making music. As a black guy, Linkin Park bridged the gap for me and introduced me to so many amazing other rock bands. I will always be grateful to them for that.

For me, they were the bridge to both hard rock/metal and hip-hop. If it weren't for Chester and Mike, I probably wouldn't have been into all the music iv'e listened to from high school to present day. That's why Chester's death hit me hard. They are the reasons why I love music in the first place.

Straight facts right here. How many other musicians can rap/compose/mix/play piano,flute,keyboard,guitar/write the lyrics/make their own album art. Very definition of multi talented. Yeah he’s not a very hardcore fast rapper or freestyler but he was never meant to be in Linkin Park he was and always will be the very foundation and LP would be nothing but Chester’s raw talents without him.

@@ebros2898They've have pretty much always stayed humble and gave back to their fans and community throughout their band career. They used their platform in a positive way to do so much to help other counties with natural disasters, global warming, the military, save the children, habitat for humanity, and so much more through a non-profit foundation that they created with "Music for Relief" aswell with doing their own individual side stuff on giving back. If they get injured right before a show or during it, they continue to play through the pain cause they don't want to cancel that show on their fans. If they see someone hurt in the mosh pit, they would stop the concert until that person got the help and continued once they knew the person was okay. Once Chester saw a girl being sexual harassed in the crowd and again stopped the concert and had security escort the guy out of the concert and then went back to playing. The ONLY time they may come off as "douchie" is when others are being disrespectful or when the so called "fans" come at them hard over the years calling them trash and sellouts and it does get irritating so I don't blame them at all for how they've responded to those types of people. - I respect when others don't like every single song that they do if it has an actual valid reason or just not your cup of tea. But what does irritate me the most is when those who say are "fans" call them sellouts and how trash it is or how trash they are, and just being completely shitty. When all their doing is just make music that they love for themselves and putting there heart, soul, sweat, tears, exhaustion, and broken bones into it, lol. It's not about the money and fame for them its about family, community, making music, art, passion, creativity, and the love that they have for their fans. Just because those people might not like it doesn't mean others dont. They never actually claimed themselves as nu/metal they always thought of themselves as a wild card, expermenting, and making music that has meaning and people can relate the message to wheather its on a personal level or whats going on in the world. Even though they've been saying this the whole type, some people still choose to be awful towards them just because they don't sound like the 1st two albums. They have NEVER been tied down to just ONE genre hell thats how "Hybrid" got created cause they didn't want to be just ONE thing and being limited. They ALWAYS wanted to grow and evolve with their music its part of growing up. They are not like other bands. Never have they've always been unique. They do things that THEY want to do and not what others want them to be. The label tried doing that to them with their first 2 albums and wanted them to keep doing the same thing as before, and thats not what they wanted. So, they broke out of that very quickly and did things their own way by doing it independently with just a little bit of guidance from Rick. Mike/Brad produces their music, Mike/Chester writes the songs, Mike/Joe come up with art ideas for their albums, Joe directs majority of their music videos, Mike comes up with set designs on how they want the stages to be on tour, he also did the band merchandise and created their web design. They do EVERYTHING that THEY WANTED to do. If anything, "Linkin Park" is its own genre. They were a very special different kind of band and did it by their own rules. So yes, if I was them, I'd be a bit douchie towards those people, too. If those "fans" aren't going to respect them, then why should they respect them back. For the most part, LP do respect them, but occasionally, it can become too much where you just have to say something.

How they were able to merge rock and hip-hop on such an ambient and progressive level will always be a mystery to me. Still, to this day, Reanimation blows my mind. I can't think of any other crossover remix album that tops Re-animation. It's a masterpiece that was way ahead of it's time and people weren't ready for it in 2002. It broke the rules of music and created an unusual melting pot that challenged the minds of traditional rappers and metal elitists.

Kieran Winter We might as well not have critics if we fall to the, 'music taste is subjective' rhetoric. It's funny how Mike said this in 2014: _"The thing I’m hungry for is not that. I turn on the rock station in L.A. and it sounds like Disney commercial music.”_ Then skip to 2017 and LP make the most uninspiring, pop-nuanced Chainsmokers-esque album imaginable. Lucky they were an established band, else sales would've flopped. * not a diss on Mike or the band - still legends.*

I can't believe how casually people say 'Linkin Park is over'. I mean, did u start the band? Is it 20 yrs of ur handwork?? The guys decide the band's future. U can either support or just bid ur own goodbye. But don't be a jerk and tell them what to do! All of us miss Chester. We will always miss Chester. But just because a loved one passes, do we give up on our lives? No, right? Then how can we ask Mike to give up LP?

RustyVaper [Rust Gameplay] I agree with the above comment. These aren't Chester's songs. They are LP's & they can play them however they want. Like I said, if u were an LP fan for Chester, then u can bid ur adieu and carry the 20 years worth of memories for a lifetime. Chester has given us enough to last many lifetimes. But do not tell Mike & the others what to do. They don't owe us anything. For u it's a band. For them it's their career.

Ann C Thank you! There are plenty of bands who have gotten new singers after the passing of the original (Drowning Pool, Ac/DC, Alice in Chains for example). Are they the same? Of course not, they will never be "the same" as what we were familiar with. But that doesn't mean we can't love what new stuff they put out. It doesn't mean we can't still support the remaining members. But that also doesn't mean you have to enjoy or listen to their new stuff either. But we can't expect them to forget about their career.

So much love for Mike.... i still can't believe Chester is gone. To this day, i still cry so hard everytime a LP song comes on the radio.... i LOVE the idea of his wife flying to Australia on the 1 year anniversary to miss the day entirely. that is exactly what i would do too. so glad Mike is so open to talking about Chester. i wish him all the best. looking forward to watching him grow artistically. 💕
