If u gonna judge a book by its cover THATS up to u too is a fact! It shows he hast really seen much performances to judge & critique that hard before even startin. What other rapper would flow in and out specially on the cop part better than Mike? Now that he seen it I want to know. If u say Eminem then well no duh. So yeah if u wanna judge a book by its cover or not even lookin at it properly that’s up to u. That’s a fact too 💯

00:38 I don't think they ever acted like that? Mike literally has a song called "Step Up" from their Hybrid Theory days where he calls out bands who acted like they were doing something revolutionary by mixing rap and rock. Insane how my guy chose the most wholesome and musically talented guy to hate on lol

Right. The guy on the right was being pretty damn lame, thinks he’s “too cool” to enjoy a fucking performance that is simply badass. Just because he has some gripe with Mike? He ruined the entire vibe with his smarmy comments. The entirety of this production was specifically for people that like jay-z and linkin park, and all artists involved looked forward to working with each other for it.

The story goes: MTV wanted to do a mash-up show. They went to Jay-Z for the first episode and asked who he wanted to work with. He said Linkin Park. Mike Shinoda answered right away with 3 finished mashups as a yes. He learned to produce by making mash-ups. So, they ended up making a whole EP. It was supposed to be a show about making one mash-up. But they did it so big and so well that MTV couldn’t even make a second episode of Ultimate Mash-Ups. After that, Jay-Z was the executive producer of Mike Shinoda's side project, Fort Minor - "The Rising Tied". If you don't mind, check out "Where'd You Go" by Fort Minor.

why you think LP is acting like they invented this kind of mash-up thing ? I can only leave couple of lines from their song "Step Up" before even Hybrid Theory came out : " I heard that some of you are gettin' help with your rhymes You're not an MC if someone else writes your lines Rappin' over rock doesn't make you a pioneer 'Cause rock and hip-hop have collaborated for years" And this is a song from 1999 xd

Do a reaction of Given Up by Linkin Park, AOL live session! Chester is not an introvert, do more live versions and everything will fall in place! Also, Mike is a beast! He does everything from production to artistry to bass guitar to rhythm guitar to rapping to drumming. You name it, he does it and he is super humble! Also, if you wanna hear more complex LP, react to The Hunting Party! Crazy album!

This whole thing happened because of Mike Shinoda and Jay-Z. Jay chose Linkin Park to colab with. The only group he wanted to. He admired Chester and the band so much. Mike then instantly put 3 songs together because he already knew what to do with this mashup. Mashups are one of the ways he loved to make music. He sent them over to Jay and the rest is history. They then made a full 6 song album together. And MTV never did another one of these because they knew they couldn’t compete with this.

Anthrax + Public Enemy doing Bring Da Noize was a great metal-rap collab, and they recently di a new master of it which might be better quality for reactions but there was also the Spawn and Judgment Night movie soundtracks that both did full soundtracks of metal + hip-hop/rap collabs that had some amazing tracks on them

Its already been said, MTV came to Jay and asked him who he wanted to collab with, he was a millionaire back then, this was suppose to be a tv series for MTV, but Mike Shinoda produced the whole collab, he said in the documentary, his goal was that MTV could never top what they did with another mash up. MTV never did another Mashup even though this was a massive success. Mike Shinoda succeed, in the documentary he said Jay Z knew what his plan was, without even having to say it. there were six songs, a whole album, a documentary. I live one block from where this was shot, The Roxy on Sunset Blvd in LA. This is what you need to watch, you really see Chester and Mike were equals kzread.info/dash/bejne/fXWrwamvprjbdNI.html

I mean, to combat your point about them not being the first to do the rap and rock colab....Nothing even came remotely close to this as far as production and it actually sounding great. Alot of the rock/rap collabs that happened in the late 80s and 90s sounded very forced and felt like a novelty. Rap/rock or nutmetal, whatever you wanna call it, actually became great around this time. I honestly never really care who created a sound first...it's who did it the best. And you can't really find an example of two artists, one rock, one rap, where it sounded better than this. I also know that alot of metal people rejected this kind of music when it was popular. But I honestly just think it is hating, because it was just simply better music. Just because something is popular, doesn't mean it's less than more traditional sounds from a genre. Quite the oppposite actually. I just wish metal fans would be more open to newer sounds and ideas. I know this is from the 2000s, so I am not saying Linkin Park specifically. But anything that doesn't soudn traditional, metal fans gatekeep and reject it. It's the reason why the metal scene is so small nowadays. Luckily it is getting a bit better, especially now. But it's nowhere near the mainstream success Numetal, or even the 2010s metalcore scene in popularity. And I think a big part of that is metal fans not wanting to see innovation. Just the same boring metalcore sound that guitar players can jack off to.

I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence as a lifelong fan who got to see them 5 times. #1. Jay Z approached Linkin Park about collaborating. #2. You may not like Mike Shinoda but you need to understand just how much the fact Mike Shinoda was not only VERY talented but he pretty much was the glue that held the band together. I say all that coming to you as a Super Chester Bennington fan. Chester was my favorite, However the other five absolutely must be given their credit. It’s why they were Linkin Park. And if you don’t agree well then that’s your right of opinion.

Security was done at Linkin Park concerts not to keep Linkin Park safe but to keep Chester out of the audience. Chester loved being with the audience during concerts. It was hard to keep Chester still for any length of time. In January of 2015 Chester broke his right ankle and had to have several surgeries that he had to be still for at least 6 weeks after. He was back on stage 3 months after the break because he refused to take more time off. One time in Australia he broke his right wrist 30 minutes into the concert and refused to go to the hospital til after the concert because it was going to be just as broke in 1 hour as it is at that point.
