LINDSAY BROTHERS: 2024 REUNION (1953 - 2002)

Фильм және анимация

The history of Lindsay Brothers Transport, and its successor, Lindsay Australia Limited, has been well documented over the years. Established by Tom and Peter Lindsay at Coffs Harbour, NSW in 1953 with a couple of second-hand tray trucks, the brothers initially transported local fruit and veggies to the railway for shipping to the Sydney markets.
The business grew to encompass fuel deliveries and many other areas of the transportation business. Shortly after Peter Lindsay’s sudden passing in 1998, the company was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and continued growing into the hundreds of red and white liveried Kenworths that we have all seen traversing our highways.
To the drivers of old however, the friendships, the camaraderie, the respect, the loyalty and the ‘family’ ethos came from those years between 1953 and 2002 when Lindsay’s was a family run business.
In May of 2024 drivers and families from 1953 - 2002 gathered at Sawtell on the NSW mid-north coast to remember those years…..

What an amazing Vid Kermie I worked for LBs as the ops manager in Melbourne at the Springvale Depot in the late 80s and it was great to see some of the drivers who are still around I've been friends on Facebook with some of them for a long time, and it was great to see Evan Jones who I have known for 50 plus years who gave a tribute to Barry Jones who was a great friend of mine from our teenage years. I also drove Interstate for about 25 years and then intrastate and local for another 27 years .I would have liked to be there it must have been fantastic.

So glad you enjoyed it, mate. That was the idea (thanks to Terry Thurwood), to enable folks who couldn't get there to see it at least. Tracey has already said its on for next year some time, so hopefully you'll be able to get up to Sawtell then. Cheers 😀

Apart from the obvious, just think of how much knowledge was sitting in that room? And how much bullshit was goin around midnight 😄 Was good to see the women that held the men together so they could do the job were there. The stories in that room would probably be 99% true, because a lot of what went on back then couldn't be repeated, and denial would have to be involved. I have a few of my own involving the Bros, and they can't be said out in the open. Well done to all involved. Thank you to the drivers and their families for supplying the nation, and well done Kermie. On a personal note, thank you to Grumpy, who drove for em and was a mate of my old mans, who pulled me out of a head on I had with a drunk at Halfway Ck many moons ago. He was the first on the scene, and I never got to thank him properly. Truck on. 🤟😎👍🚛🚛🚛

Thanks for the comments, mate. Yeah, I agree with you about the stories being 99%, with just a touch of bullshit to top them up. 😀. Was a great night. Also great to hear your story. Cheers, Kermie. 😀

I remember as young 14 year old with my older brother back in 1974 unloading full loads of tomatoes by hand off Lindsay bros trucks at 605 finders street Melbourne. They were coming down from Bowen , 3 days one driver and not much sleep, now they were FKn drivers. And they were the days… I’m still unloading and loading Lindsay’s to this day. Good job boys and girls… 👍👍💪💪🇨🇰🇨🇰🇨🇰🇨🇰🇨🇰
