What I don't understand is why arn't they building up the road and cutting a ditch with the grader. If the road is lower than the surrounding ground in the wet it becomes a lake because it is the low spot. In the dry season a couple of hours with the grader or excavator would eliminate the bog and make a usable road.

I take it you haven’t been up in the outback with a 50 ton load and road tires. It’s all clay. Doesn’t matter if you build it up, it still turns to worse than ice. We have taken trips around bad tracks and gone through higher places in the bush and we got stuck and nearly lost our cars. Clay is great in the dry, but in the wet, it has no bottom. Just a bottomless load of snot.

It sounds like you haven't spent any time in a vehicle in a muddy area. If the whole landscape is mud with vegetation on top where are you going to make a solid track? You just have to fight the mud and try to get out. Mud creates suction too. In wheeling circles I've always been told have a winch that'll pull 3-4x the vehicle weight if you plan on going in mud

Why done they put some boggers or knobbies on the tractor for more grip, and rather some super thick balloon like tires on the trailers rather than duals? They act surprised when they try to pull all that weight through a 100 ft mud hole on worn street tires. If I knew that I’d be coming against those conditions, I’d try to equip the truck and trailers to be able to handle it as best as possible. Especially if the majority of their miles are on dirt. If someone could help me understand why they don’t, I’d appreciate it!

It’s not that easy. We have people miles away from any where. To make a road will cost billions of dollars and will only help 400 people, then you will have to spend the same to make a road to the next town of 200 people . We learn to accept that things take time to deliver and are also happy to help out to get the load in.
