With all due respect to everyone's negative comments...forget everything about whether Linda R is this or that....etc. Linda's Canciones de Mi Padre are in my opinion the best of the best. linda's voice and renditions in spanish are top notch that's the bottom line....I grew up listening to all these songs from the originals and her renditions of these songs are right there with the top of the cream....so stop of all the negative conmentaries!

I don't know Spanish. I know some phrases and words, but not the language. My BEST friend for 35yrs before he passed away wanted me to learn the whole language and taught me all of the words/phrases I know. I LOVE Linda Ronstadt WHATEVER she sings....she sings EVERYTHING with such heart and passion. I WISH I understood what she's saying totally, but love it just the same. I'm Awestruck with the entire Mariachi Performance and My! My! I think it's nicer to imagine what she's saying- and you can almost understand every word, just from the inflections of her voice and the expressions of her face and hands. Linda's talent was simply indescribable. So sad now to say "was"...

cilla leary Linda is a very strong lady she will deal with her fatal illness head-on. Being Spanish will let her die in a honor able way. I'm 1/4 Spanish on my moms side rest rest is British. MY Spanish. Grandmother was the salt of the 🌎 . my British grandfather lived to be 92 yrs old. They were married for 60 yrs. I would spend my summers with them for obvious reasons. When my grandma died I could not bare the pain of seeing her in a coffin so I stayed in my car at the cemetery. My mom was not a cryer & as the service was over I could see my Dad with tears in his eyes holding on to my mom as she fainted. I ran to her side & the mortician had smelling salts. Once she came to she said I don't want to go the reception in the limo I want to go with Arnold. It is not like she learned Spanish in order to do this record. She listened to and sung a lot of Mexican music while she was growing up. Linda Ronstadt has always done what she wanted. It was not just this album either that turned out to be a success even though she was told it was a bad idea. The album Trio was supposed to be a flop too. It was not. It was a success. No one was supposed to care about the Nelson Riddle Band work either, that too was also a success. I totally admire Ronstadt for not giving a shit about what is supposed to sell. I think often times, the big record execs. underestimate what people will listen to and like.

Why isn't she mentioned much when it comes to female artist. I mean she has done a lot. From the crossover to helping in making the Eagles. Shes is in the R&R hall of fame. She was invited to sing in the white house during the clintons and received a medal from Obama for her vocals. So why isnt she mentioned much?

When I was little, I was under the impression she was fluent in Spanish because her pronunciation is perfect (I grew up with her 2 Mexican songs discs, since they were LP, then cassettes, then CDs). I hear how she pronounces and I completely believe she's Mexican (she nails the accent in the songs more than just well), but I see how she moves her miuth and I see a little bit of her non-nativiness, but is just so slightly that most people will never notice. There's a saying that we Mexicans don't like foreigners singing our songs, we are among the most difficult audiences to please, but her talent and the respect she has for our songs opened the doors to the Mexican audience (this has happened to this scale only with her and the Spanish hypertalented singer Rocío Durcal).

Loving Linda's music in Rosarito Beach, Baja, CA Norte and in EL Sereno and Newbury Park, CA.

She has something I haven't seen in a long time (besides real musical instruments): class.

I first met Linda's voice in the early eighties in Brazil, I was captain of a vessel sailing up inside waters, rivers, lagoons to some loading pier in the jungle and my chief engineer made me listening to Linda Rondstadt's Blue Bayou. Since then she is one of my favourite singer.

No está informada, ya sabemos la riqueza musical que tenemos, si acaso las nuevas generaciones. Pero yo creo que es labor de los padres que enseñen a sus hijos desde pequeños todo este tesoro
