If you ever wanted proof of the way corrupt policemen automatically back each other up when they are choosing between a fellow officer and a member of the public. Go to 10 minutes and 58 seconds into this video and listen to the policeman in the car say, “ I would imagine, that you’re also causing him harassment alarm and distress at the moment.” So, there you have it in the absence of any evidence whatsoever, the police officer in the car decides that it’s best to imagine what might have actually happened, and then use his imagination to form of an accusation against a member of the public with zero knowledge or evidence. Pathetic and corrupt to their rotten core. As for the angry red faced old man holding his arm up in the air and waving it around saying I’m a policeman and demanding that the videographers move away, all I can say is somewhere in England, there is a village that is missing an idiot.

He made no attempt to arrest or keep the off-duty police officer at the scene. Auditors were smart enough to know the game... they avoided themselves being stitched up by giving their details to report a crime that occurred. I would just make a note about giving your identity. Yes, decline to give it until arrested or legally obliged to do so, but if you do report a crime or incident then it is best to give your identity and follow their procedures to ensure that it is properly logged and recorded. Follow the Queen of auditing's rules - that of Furry Potato. She never gives ID, but the moment she is assaulted she gives all the details needed by the police to have the incident recorded. The aim of giving ID when reporting a crime is to be able to follow it up. As you saw here not giving your ID allowed the cops to brush you off.

Along come some armed response officer that isn't identifiable, is actively carrying a loaded handgun that could kill, and won't give his name; and refused to take the complaints only digging to find out information about you, allows the off-duty officer to walk away (if he isn't on duty he needs to stay whilst it is dealt with) 4. @@Jayen4 Hi Jayne Sorry I didn't see your reply until just now. Demerit points...... That is the governments way of imposing a penalty for breaking the road laws. 100 demerit points and you lose your driver's licence. Nothing really to do with the police. How do the NZ police steal people's property? At best they can impose a fine, which you can dispute or restrict your freedom for a very limited time. But this is no different than the UK, USA or any other country. What I think is different, is the approach NZ police have when dealing with the public. It's very non-confrontational and people are treated with respect. Granted these TV shows demonstrate mostly the soft side of policing and I'm sure there are some real bastard cops out there that will never make it on TV. But for the most part NZ police try to be part of the community, not above the community.

This behaviour caught on camera won't affect the individual copper's that much, at best their boss might have a word and their colleagues might have a good laugh, what it will do for all those people who watch it (4000 the first day, what will it be in 2,3 years) is erode their confidence in the police, increasingly (especially since Convid) police are being seen as pariahs and bully boys.
