Dam this summer, who was talking about droughts just a few short months ago. Only drove through Lincoln, never stopped before but it looked (rain apart) a real nice place especially with the castle and cathedral. I recognised a few of these people from Whitby too but gutted for the people who turned out in the rain. Real good to see there was patches of sun as well and even free loos too! I had heard the cathedral was impressive and it was even better that I imagined, what an amazing place. With 2.2M visitors I can see why it is the biggest Steam Punk festival in the world, but it really deserved better weather so well done to all who attended, cheers Alan

it was incredible Alan, we had an amazing time. I don’t think Lincoln is a budget friendly place, but we will be doing two more videos in a new long standing series.. “top five things on a budget” and even newer “24 hours in a place”. back in the lakes next week, following your footsteps on Coledale. but the packaging will be.. “top things to do in keswick on a budget” and “”24 hours in the lake district”. we are hikers through and through so if we get some packaging to purpose what we are doing we will be very grateful xx

I love all the costumes. Live this steampunk festival. We don’t have anything that I know of in Australia. A pity you had to deal with the rain. Thank you so much guys. Woke up today feeling 90% better trying to work out what the fuss is all about? Last time i had covid i was fully vaccinated and it lasted for over a week. This time no vaccination in years and the main symptoms last two days? 🧐

Another excellent video - nice to see Lincoln too, would love to visit there! The costumes are so awesome, so well dressed and thought out. Just love the steampunk vibes. Really love how creative they are. My favourite was the guy in gold, his outfit was INCREDIBLE. Loved this guys, appreciate you both sharing such a cool event! and doing it effortlessly!

Welcome to my city good to see you had a good time. To get the full experience I would recommend getting a ticket so you can go inside the Castle and see all the events that take place there. Or come along for the final day where you get a grand parade of all the various Steampunk groups and societys marching through the streets. There are a lot of historic places around the city down hill as well as by the castle / cathedral.

Hi Nick and Jill. Another great video. I've been to quite a few sci-fi / comic con type events in the UK and America and always love seeing the steampunk costumes at those events, particularly steampunk spins on films and television shows. I have a few top hats, goggles and did a Good Omens inspired steampunk costume last Halloween, but I've certainly never created costumes as fabulous as the ones on display here! I loved all the creative inspo in this video, the aesthetics are so cool. Electric blue is one of my favourite colours too, Jill. On a non-steampunk note, Lincoln looks super. I have never been but will definitely plan a visit after watching this. I love places like that with loads of history and plenty of shops to amble around. Thanks Phil, really experimenting with B Roll at the moment,that Cathedral was incredible, by far the biggest ive ever visited and free. Lot of love for Lincoln will definitely revisit.

I love seeing the steampunk festival, people are so creative with their costumes. It's a shame about the weather, especially when it's an outdoor event.

Thank you Simon, the Cathedral really impressed and unbelievably is free to enter! Lincoln has got under our skin, we would love to spend at least 24 hours there for further exploration.

Cracking to finally meet you guys. Love the video as it was our 1st Lincoln too, so you caught things we missed. If you are at Whitby for the Goth weekend you will have to keep your eyes out for us as it will be only the 2nd appearance ever of "The Gothinator" on the Saturday.

@@GENerationXplorers Nick & Jill, I completely agree - Lincoln was fantastic, that being said a number of long time attendees we spoke to said that this year was not as big as it normally is, so I guess we will just have to go back next year to find out for ourselves😄. The only thing with that though is to try not to buy as many steampunk items. The Gothinator is indeed my channel icon and that was it's only outing so far - Whitby Goth this year in April. Thank you for the positive comments, that's what I love about the Goth and Steampunk events - the positive atmosphere. This weekend is the Steampunk event at Crich Tramway so will try not to melt if these temperatures hold. At least with the Steampunk outfits you can alter it a bit to fit the weather. We do 1940's weekends too and you are pretty much stuck with the uniform as it is, so can get extremely hot. Hope you have a great weekend whatever you have planned (no doubt something that will appear on your channel). It certainly looks like you enjoy the process of making your videos, so long may your enjoyment continue, but don't forget to make time for yourselves as well. Settled down to half a dozen you tube videos on the telly...obviously first up is Gen X...wow what a day you had, all those characters, some of whom i found slightly creepy...i remember when punks were punks, in those days we went down to London to hang around "Boy" on the Kings road or Camden market...we sported Mohichans, Leopard skin trousers, Air wair boots and a beer towel hanging off our arses...but these Steampunks take things up a level..looks a cracking day out, loved your video.

Ah thank you Steven. Yes its a different brand of punks than the ones we grew up with. Growing up in Blackpool in the 1980s the MODS and the Punks would descend on the town in their droves just to kick off and smash up the place. It was a great upbringing, to be fair i liked both groups back then! Probably not too PC a thing to say now mind! These steampunks are lovely though, the efforts they go to are just simply staggering!

You take us too ancient time the dresses are beautiful ❤❤❤

We haven’t been to Lincoln also and funny thing is we were planning to go this weekend but things didn’t go to plan. Looks like a beautiful city with all of the steam punkers.

The Steampunk Festival looks so awesome, and great location with the castle and shops along the street. The costumes are so amazing, especially how people incorporate the oddest items but make it look good. I always wonder why you two don't dress up too? This was really fun to watch.

These steam punk festivals are amazing and what a wonderful city to take place ..the historical centre of Lincoln. The outfits are absolutely stunning. Great to meet up with old friends ... even I'm beginning to recognise them haha but also always good to meet new people too. The Drapers have to take top prize with the charismatic Ringo. You guys are now getting star status too with your fame rapidly spreading. Lincolnshire sausages, well they have to come from Lincolnshire to get the true taste ... you'll be doing a review and taking your chopping board next time hahaha Thank you for showing me parts of my original county town that I've not visited for years ... the cathedral is amazing ... last time there was on a school trip i think 🤔 so a while ago 🤣🤣 It is quite an icon & can be seen for miles around with the area being so flat. Oh boy is that steep hill still as steep? Good training though ⛰⛰😀 See you soon 🤗🤗

Hi Christine yes the historic town of Lincoln blew us away and we can’t wait to revisit we are thinking possibly Christmas! Ringo was pretty awesome heavy to! We’ve had a few say about the Lincolnshire sausages and Bill board 😂 the cathedral just wow 🤩 hope you’ve had a lovely weekend, all being well see you next week 👍❤️

@@GENerationXplorers Oops I didn't realise you got more comments about Lincolnshire sausage but hey sounds like a review is in demand 😃 Hmmmm 🤔 if you are going back at Christmas for the market, check out the details ... I'm sure I heard it had been cancelled as had got too big & the city couldn't cope with the number of visitors .. might just be a rumer but worth checking out 😯 Weather fab in the lakes at the mo .. just back in from a hike up Swirral to Helvellyn with my club 😎 first time up that route for me 😀 Fingers crossed for everything next weekend 😗🤗🤗xx

@@christinem3375 oh brilliant Christine, the Swirral ascent is the way for us, hope you found it easier that way, its only a tiny descent onto Striding which is relatively flat after that. Oh we got burnt by Beverly Market last year cause it had got too big and got cancelled. We will check into this very closely, thanks for the heads up. Im feeling a lot better than yesterday and jill has definitely got it which is great news as we will almost certainly be both well and truly shot of it by mid week. We will obviously keep testing! My worry was that Jill would only just catch it at the very end of my course with it and that would put it into our time together. Plus an added bonus we have a great excuse why we will be out of breath on those ascents. Cant wait to hear your opinion on the Swirral approach!

Brilliant characters & outfits, Lincoln looks so pretty amazing Cathedral - I can imagine the late great Fred Dibnah turning up on a steam engine 🚂
