Lin explains it on the segment he did with Ellen the other day. Basically, that his dad is a huge Maria VonTrapp/Sound of Music fan; the family toured Austria and did the movie tour; and his dad hired a film crew and wanted to reenact the whole song with himself cast as Maria. Everything about this is perfect!

I'm actually crying this is the purest group of cinnamon rolls I've ever seen

I love absolutely everything about this! Can I be bestie's with Lin's dad?? And sure, with Lin himself, too. ;) The Sound of Music was probably the most-watched movie in my house growing up, too, and it's one of my favorite of all-time. I want to do the Austrian tour someday-but reenacting the song and filming it? That's touring with style! I am also taken with the fact that this was *all* about Lin's dad. His Broadway-star son faded easily into the background with the family, and didn't have a single solo part or anything to draw focus. It was surprising, but also very telling of the kind of character that Lin-Manuel Miranda possesses (and how much he loves his family, which is very much on display here). I goofy-smiled my way through this, and I will keep coming back whenever I need a little joy to brighten my day.

I've been searching for this video since I heard Lin talking about it in his interview! IT'S FINALLY HERE AND I'M SO HAPPY!!

Thank you for sharing this video with the world today. Amidst the recent chaos and uncertainty all over the world, Lin-Manuel's family gives HOPE. Family and the power of music in us are comforting certainties.

This is one of the sweetest, cutest things I've ever seen. Lin's dad is amazing. And man, does Lin ever look like his dad! If Franklin had been in Hamilton, you just know he would've been played by the elder Miranda. And yeah, he most definitely would've stolen the show.

Lin's dad is so cute. Love this whole family.

This was sooo freakin cute!!! I also grew up watching Sound Of Music all the time as a kid so this just tugged on my heart strings!!

aquamarina93 in most pictures and videos they try to avoid showing Sebastian's face. I believe it's for in the future to prevent people from knowing what he looks like and throwing him into a "spotlight" from such a young age because of his father.
