Check out the last episode of s1 with the dub when Rudy is crying - the VA work is actually excellent. Here the VA is inflecting voice a lot, kinda like sassy/know-it-all and it comes off a bit awkward so I get what you mean. But it never sounds like generic anime yelling voice, very consistent and emotionally-impactful. The crying and angry moments are top-tier

is this your first time listening to the dub? It does sound weird here since he's inflecting his voice a lot - kinda being sassy/know-it-all with higher pitched voice - but overall the dub VA work for Rudy is actually incredible Like in terms of his visceral crying actually hitting you emotionally-hard at same level as the sub. It's gut-wrenching at the end of S1 - highly recommend checking that last episode out before judging performance. Also really great angry moments. Honestly it's one of the best dub VAs I've heard. It is different from the sub, can come off as pretty awkward at times, but it basically never sounds like fake-yelling anime voice. Very consistent, you get used to it quick. Though Eris VA is same as Gabi from Attack on Titan dub - her yelling is very screechy and full of scratchy voice-cracks that most people seem to hate. Much harder to get used to but it works I guess

​@@organizerbmo I honestly don't know where you're getting any of this high praise from. It feels like sabotage with how bad the dub was handled. Characters almost talking over one another with how close the line reads are, weird voice actor choices with some that straight up don't fit their character and a lot of VAs with barely any voice acting credit to their name. With sound mixing that I could've done better. In turning point 2 Ruijerd is breathing and grunting louder then his weapon is clanging against Orsted. That's just one example in one of the most important scenes in the show. There are great dubs out there, but this ain't it. Frankly, Mushoku Tensei deserves better. I have a theory Funimation/Crunchyroll don't respect the show due to its controversial nature because A: how the dub was handled and B: Not putting it in the Anime Awards for the year it came out. This kind of behavior shouldn't be praised.
