To the people of Makoko, keep your head up and don't give up. Don't ever forget Roses 🌹 that grew up from concrete. Do not let this hard life stop you from seeing the stars. I love you all.

It's funny but they don't fall sick or die any how. They are just like every normal person living on land. Everyone should know that there is no government provision for people to live on water. Those people decided never to leave the water. They say it's ancestral to them. Their forefathers founded the village before Nigeria was formed and they will never relocate. Thus, they are left on their own. There is no provision for government to build roads, pipe-born water, electricity, etc in such place.

Makoko is not the largest slum in Africa though, Khayelitsha in Cape Town South Africa and Kibera in Kenya top the list, with about 700k population. Makoko should be around 8th with around 250k population, but it is the largest floating slum unlike others which are basically on land. Well done Shorn, you strong.. cos as a first time visitor to Makoko you were so composed💯😊😅

@@user-wc7mz8ud8yyou people are just silly, you can search on Google and understand that: 1) Those people are not Nigerians, yes their ancestors move that location from Togo and Benin( cotonou) some hundred years ago and prefer to settle on water. 2)The government on many times tried to resettle them to the land but they prefer that place because its their ancestral spot and because they are majorly fishermen. But the truth is when the government is ready, they will have to leave. 3) Another reason why most of them prefer the place is because all their lives they have been living on water. They do not even pay any taxes something they can never escape if they are on land. 4) Lastly, your country will probably have a bigger slum than Nigeria even with your very small population, isn't that shameful? Ruminate on that!

I am glad to see you doing this video, we have been following Makoko for years now. So many documentaries even movies have been made about Makoko over the years, yet, there has not been much changes done here. This is very sad and heartbreaking. It only shows that human beings will learn to accept the worse of conditions, if it is what they are used to. There is so much that could be said, but there are forces operating behind this, that only God can change. These are the kind of places that really needs help, instead of so many people going after fame and fortune, and bigging up themselves. This is why the rich and famous will be judged by God for what they do with their riches.

You have no compassion. “We should not just leave them and let live their lives in peace”. All this horror and sadness needs to be seen, heard exposed and addressed. So that the people can be helped. If it’s even just one person to be helped then the world is a better place without all this suffering and misery. Imagine if you were in their shoes. Would not your heart be troubled with the fear that there’s no hope? Therefore think twice before you make such comments. Greetings and blessings. I hope life finds you in a better place.

And the hand of God has been protecting them whether we believe it yes or no this is where they live every day. Mercy.
