Bella has been a true blessing to us, and we are filled with happiness and gratitude for the time we've spent together. Although our days with her are limited, we will cherish every moment we have. Our neighbors, who used to care for Bella while we were away, have decided to adopt her as their own. We understand that Bella is an independent outdoor cat, free to roam as she pleases. So, we have also informed the new owners of our home about Bella's situation. With two families looking out for her in her familiar territory, we know she will be a content and joyful cat. I want to emphasize that my choice of not having biological children doesn't diminish the incredible love I've experienced as a stepmom and pet parent. I simply hope that my choices will be respected and acknowledged in the same way.

I am so glad that Bella has two families looking out for her. It's wonderful to acknowledge that Bella is an independent outdoors cat and she will be most suitable to be that way. That makes me so happy. 🥰 much love to everyone.

Of course your choice not to have kids is just fine! Not only does it not trample on anyone elses' rights (like "choosing" to eat someone else's flesh) but with 8 billion human animals gobbling up the earth's resources (especially if they are paying to force into existence 80 billion victims every year just for theur taste choice) bringing less people into the world is the best thing you can do for mother earth, next best to not eating animals and their secretions. 😊👍

There is nothing wrong with NOT wanting to have children. I have 2 kids myself but I believe it is a personal choice what others decide to do and certainly not my business if they do or do not want to have kids!

I definitely remember you covering this years ago. As another woman who didn't have children, (but am raising my husband's children) I completely understand and support you. There's more to life than reproducing.

I have a 44 year old son that since the age of 2 knew he would not have children. He and his wife of 18 years have never regretted it!

As a fellow Korean/Asian American woman, thank you so much for boldly and bravely stating your choice not to have children. It’s nice to know that I am not alone 😊. Our community is very child-centric and you know how the Ajjumas can really put on the baby pressure so it’s nice to see someone from our culture hold true to themselves and live their best life!

As someone who has been happily married for 10 years without children, I have always thought it was intrusive and ignorant of people to ask that question. Some women are content without children and some women cannot have children or have suffered miscarriage(s). Meaning well does not mean it's acceptable or harmless.

No one has the right to tell you or any other woman, that you should have children! Congratulations on your plans and endeavors! 😁

As a huge cat lover with two of my own, I’m gonna miss seeing Bella in your videos. But I am so happy to hear that your neighbors are adopting her and that the new homeowners will know that this land is hers

Like you I have always known that I did not want children. I heard the same things as you. I am now 50 and childless. My mind has never changed. People finally stop asking about having children when you reach your early 40s.

Nothing wrong with not wanting to have kids. You can live a very fulfilling life either way. So much love and best wishes to you and Jacob on the next chapter in your life. ❤️

Seonkyoung, thank you for being vulnerable AND for speaking up for those of us who have found fulfillment and happiness without children. There are so many reasons why people choose to not have children, and it makes me so upset that people judge you for not wanting to have children. It makes me wonder if these are the same folks who judge you for no longer being 💯 plant based. I chose to not have children due to my husband having a serious car accident and acquiring a lifelong painful injury. We are doing just fine living our "close to home" life (chronic pain can be difficult). Am I jealous of those who had children? Nope. Am I jealous of those who can travel? Nope. Do I try to tell other people how to live? Nope. But I too have been on the receiving end of comments regarding not having children, especially as I am an elementary school teacher by trade. There are enough kids around me... And they go home to their parents each night while I get uninterrupted sleep. 🤗

I totally agree with you! I hate when ppl ask about having children, when and why not? It's so rude! You never know what someone is going through. It upsets me alot. When i was younger i wanted children. But as I've grown up i dont anymore. If it happens unexpectedly ok but i take precautions to avoid that. And as i keep growing, the more i don't want children. Yes they bring happiness into lives but it doesnt guarantee happiness. Some people think having children will save marriages and i think that is so wrong. To bring a child into the world just for that purpose. But i highly agree with you! ❤

I think i’ll stick to my comment on the previous video. The fact that i noticed Seonkyeong finally look happy and at peace with herself gives off a glowing vibe. A vibe of contentment that usually associated with being pregnant though one does not need to be pregnant to feel content & loved. Being happy and at peace is the most important in life aside from being healthy. Seonkyeong & Jacob, please stay healthy and happy. I’ll be happy to watch any part of your travel that you guys are willing to share with the internet. I love you guys since the very beginning of Asian food at home. Despite a bit hard to watch Seonkyeong struggles, i still watch your videos to support you. I’m so glad you finally come to term with whatever it was that bother you and let it go. Love your vlogs! They are always so comforting to me. This one was especially so when you voiced your feelings and thoughts about having/not having kids, letting me know that someone else out there actually have been feeling and thinking the exact same things surrounding this topic. It is rarely talked about and therefore easy to feel very alone and not at all understood in. Being constantly questioned, since the norm to have babies are so deep rooted, is sometimes hard. I know, after losing 3 of my pets, that Bella was a such a gift for you! And girl, kids are all that but they are allot! I say it with love so people wont think I’m evil, but they are allot, they are human, ideas, feelings, actions… it goes on and on.. so just do you! That said as hard as it was I wouldn’t change it, I would just try to make it easier on the kid… real life sucks and we get it, but those adolescent years are HARD! I can’t wait to see what y’all do next!

I remember when you first moved to Hawaii and moved into that beautiful house and showed off the vegetable garden and then introduced Bella for the first time! Congratulations on the new life adventure! OMG! I went exactly through the same thing with my cat while living in Spain. But I move a lot and I can only try to go see how she´s doing once a year. The last time I went she was as happy and healthy as before, with the neighbors taking care of her for me. Before leaving I left a letter on the mail for everyone nearby so they knew the situation because she was also mostly an outdoor cat. I guess it was harder on me than on her because I miss her every single day!! But, life changes and we must accept the setbacks and be grateful! Good luck for you and Jacob

Dang lady. You cook so amazing!🤩 Seeing everything you made and my mouth is watering. I’m loving the different ideas for cooking/eating for health. One of my huge blessings was a coworker deciding to move back to Japan and she had Mr. Cat. She loved him but left him in the United States because it’s so stressful for travel. I adopted Mr. Cat and he’s doing great. Life takes us in different places and that’s ok. My boyfriend and I keep talking about your videos and it’s been so joyful and entertaining for us both💕 I feel that we can relate on a lot of levels plus…we love your recipes.

Children are overrated so if you guys are not interested good for you. I have three kids and they are all grown but they will not be taking care of us when we get old. We are on our own and they have their own priorities in their lives which are not concerning us. Hey! It is what it is with this generation. We took care of them and now they take care of their children. Enjoy your life together and be happy.

Felt the same way since I was a teen and got the same responses you did from family, friends and strangers. I love kids but motherhood just never held the same draw it had for other women. Decades later, my husband and I share a happy life together with no regrets about never being parents.

I've been a fan of yours truly. I've made some of your recipes. As well and I love them all. I've made them for my family and they loved them as well. So sad not to see you doing your regular cooking show anymore but I'm so happy for your new journey. I will definitely be following every vlog you make for your travel as I like to travel myself. Girl, I love that you are being honest and true to you regarding having children. It's hard especially for women because this is the societal norm. I would like to have children and I am constantly taken as be someone who chooses not to and am given a hard time because of it.

It’s nothing wrong with not wanting to have children. This is not the desire of all women and I totally get it

I have one child and my MIL has been bothering me since she was born asking when we're going to have the next one! The last time I saw her, she said my H and I weren't trying hard enough!!! Ew! She feels it's her duty as a grandmother to make sure the younger generation have children (even though she only had 1!). She has 8 siblings, my H's father has like 9. The world has changed SO much in one or two generations, I only notice a lot of these comments from the elders in our family's honestly. No one our age would ever say such things, it is VERY rude and potentially very hurtful. Not only do people just decide not to have kids, some are trying and can't for whatever reason.

People need to stop assuming all women want children. Asking such a personal question is very rude yet normalized in our society. If they decide to have children and they share then great but don’t apply pressure by asking. Having a child is a huge personal decision and everyone has their own person reasons for having or not having. I love the decision you guys made for Bella! Selfless act to consider her environment and what would be best for her.

I've known since I was 4 years old that I didn't want children. Everyone laughed and said "that might change." At 14 I still didn't want children. Everyone laughed again and said "well, you're young! You'll change your mind when you're older." I didn't want children at 24 and people still didn't believe me. I'm in my 30s now and while my close friends and family are totally fine with this choice, I *STILL* have people in my life telling me I may change my mind or regret not having kids. Just know that I support you and the choices you make, just as much as I support those who do choose to have children. Every choice is valid.

I am in the same side as you with kids question. I am way over 30 and I still do not have any desire to have any, quite opposite I have to say. I ma more and more sure that having kids is not for me. And it is ok, nobody should be push into something that that person do not feel. It is personal choice. Also, I am happy that your neighbor will take care of Bella ❤

I’m sorry to hear that you got pestered with those questions, its so rude. I also don’t want children so I can relate to how people judge that decision. Also thank you for speaking on Bella and normalizing this topic that is often taboo which is rehoming a furry family member. People can be so harsh when it comes to this and act like you’re giving up a human child. But at the end of the day, you are doing what’s best for the animal. Bella is going to be so much happier in Hawaii and she will make another family so happy! It will definitely be painful to leave her and it will hurt a lot, but time heals everything and you will see how much happier she is (sometimes offended for how quickly animals move on).

every decision comes with its own up and downs, rewards, and struggles. Children / no children neither option is easy.

I respect your choice of not having children. I have 3 wonderful kids that I can’t imagine being without but I see this world has gotten harder and will keep on with so much evil, sadly to say. I see so many people not just children suffering and it breaks my heart to think my kids could suffer. Enjoy life while you can because you never know what’s instored for tomorrow. But please keep sharing you wonderful adventures with life and food ❤

As an aromantic and asexual girl I’ve been told my whole life that I just haven’t met the right person my whole life and growing up my biggest fear is being alone unhappy without a romantic partner. I know that I’m aroace ever since I was in high school and no it does not change even when I get older, but what changes is that I realised I don’t need romance to live life and be happy. Everyone is born different and we all have different life so you should do what makes you happy 🥰

With age, we learn, other people's thoughts and ideas are their own and we can continue to be happy with our own. ;)
