Does the table have a bit of rumble? I want to hear the little wood cabinet with that curved sound reflector.

Hi, It might be, frankly speaking I can not hearing, but I might be deaf 😊… this machine are really capricious, as they works well when the want to and they didn’t when the didn’t feel like☝️… so sometimes depending on your mood, the machine feeling (😶) and the recording, you might feel the sound is perfect or not 🧐… it’s really complicated as it’s not like a normal turntable that it’s has some problems and you bring it to assistance, this model weight more them 120 kg. and is a hell to move… but they are so bloody nice that you learn how to deal with their mood!

@@ilfafioccaro417 I understand you perfectly. Sometimes I prefer older tube amps over modern ones. The modern ones can be dead silent but the old ones might have some noise (I call it dirty sound) but the dirty sound has its own charm. It might even make the recording more enjoyable 🤗

Please answer this question which has been tormenting me for ages: what is the difference (if any) between a Lie Belin and a Bourdereau turntable? If there's no difference, why the different names?

Sure, as far as I know, Bourdereau and Lie Belin were two different suppliers of Radio France for broadcast turntable. As many other broadcast companies in the fifties and sixties, they wanted to have custom products for their radio studios, so they use to gave very strict specifications (cahiers de charges) for built and delivery the gears… for exemplaire thé usé of tonearm and cartridges have to be Pierre Clement… that’s why the two turntable are almost identical with just some esthetic differences… because the specifications were so strict and complete that avoid any different….

If so, maybe they did not procure the arm and cartridge from external manufacturers but probably did the same for e.g. the base, the platter etc.? That would explain the identical appearance, i.e. if the casting of the base was done by a single manufacturer for both models. Therefore the point would be, based on what you wrote and the evidence, that I guess every part/component/module would be interchangeable between the two models.

Yes, but not all components are interchangeable, some must be but I have never tried…

@@ilfafioccaro417 This should be obvious (in theory) from the specification documents/cahiers de charges/service manuals, if you happen to possess them for both models, as interchangeable parts would appear with the same number/code in both. I would not advise tampering with these machines to find out if this is the case of course. The risk of damage or scarring the machines is simply too high.
