Girls and boys is such an incredible song, I really like it because the combination of the synth with the guitar and drums makes me feel relaxed. Live versions of the song are incredible too.

I don't like Blur but that song is catchy. I think what Liam might have been angry about is that Oasis were very clearly working class and rough around the edges whereas Blur were very middle class and comparatively well mannered, and the music journalists were almost all middle class too, so they would give Blur glowing reviews anything they did, even the crap stuff, but always looked down on Oasis no matter how good they were. It must have been annoying. I have similar frustrations in my own life having been surrounded by middle to upper class types who consider themselves to be the aristocracy and so love to look down on and bully anyone that feel doesn't belong. I also have Aspergers which makes interacting with people extra difficult. I love Oasis first few albums and I was never really at all interested in Blur, they have a few songs I quite like (3-5) but I always thought they were very annoying as people. Oasis are rough around the edges but are also very direct and honest which suits rock music very well they had a hell of a lot of passion, but Blur have this smirky aura of I'm only doing this ironically sort of crap which I think fits with the middle and upper class social ladder climbing bollocks where you constantly adjust who you are in an effort to fit in and raise your status. I just found Blur so irritating and everyone I've met who was a fan of Blur had that same kind of personality, they are hipsters. If a person likes Blur (except for Song 2) that is a red flag that they are probably a hipster who reads The Guardian and says things like Farm to table and talks about the conflict in the Middle East and doesn't like Adam Sandler movies (even Happy Gilmour!) bunch of wankers. Fuck Blur! Oasis Rule!

I'd suggest taking a look at their albums 13 and Think Tank. They're really brilliant records. I personally don't think any of their records are crap, some are better than others 'course, but no real big stinkers among em. As for a lack of passion Battery In Your Leg from Think Tank is some of the most passionate shit i've heard in me life and also one of the best songs i've heard, you can tell it actually hurt emotionally to record. There's a live performance of it from right before they broke up and i damn near cried at it.

Pretty cool on the record but they butchered it live. Their producer got it right. When it’s live it all just blends together and makes a racket also there’s a lack of effort live from blur Damon in particular he just looks like he doesent want to be there. That was in the early performances but by the time he realised he had to take it seriously his voice was already done in

Noel was a songwriter, and knew Blur were a great band, and Damon was a formidable songwriter. I always felt like he just went along with Liam on his rants against Blur. Noel obviously listened to Parklife, it came out many months before Definitely Maybe came out. Noel actually listened to the other songs on the album, and was aware of Damon's lyrical depth.

Oasis got too big for their britches too quick. There was a lot of envy on their part when Blur beat them for all the awards at the 1995 Brit Awards. Blur released 3 great albums before Oasis released anything. I could be wrong, but based on interviews I've seen Liam genuinely hated Blur at the time, whereas Noel being a songwriter respected Damon as a songwriter. It's cool that Damon and Noel are friends now, Noel must've realized what a prick he was at the time, and how stupid they were for putting Blur down.

Liam actually knew Parklife. Both Oasis and Blur were on an American radio broadcast shortly after Definitely Maybe released. When asked which Blur song they should play, Liam says "The Debt Collector", an instrumental track from the middle of Parklife. Presumably he chose that as a joke since it has no vocals, but he still knew some random track, meaning he likely listened to the whole album.

@@michaelg2478 Oasis peak was way higher than Blur's. The Knebworth concerts were some of the biggest concerts that any band has ever done. Blur did not inspire that kind of devotion from people. Oasis best song were far better than Blurs and I'm talking about music not lyrics because I care a lot more about the music. As far as awards go that shit is all political and who you know etc. It really means nothing, what matters if how the music connects with the people.

If you watch Blur "No Distance Left To Run" documentary, you'll understand. It all start with Damon (bringing up the rivalry) but then all their fans (followed by industries) take it seriously. some kind of ripple effect.
