LGBT Discrimination: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

Ойын-сауық

@david nichols yes, it's biologically impossible for same sex couples reproduce with each other, however the ability to have a child isn't the factor that makes you normal. But you know what? Whatever. If you are considered "normal" then I'd love to be the opposite so I don't have to be lumped in the same group as you. Take your bigotry and homophobia elsewhere. (I suggest Hell.)

+pqxxedf I'm a bit confused about what exactly you are arguing here. Reproduction has nothing to do with marriage, you can fuck anyone you want any time you want if the person is over 18 and willing, so procreation has nothing to do with marriage at all. As far as love goes? Plenty of heterosexuals are married and hate their relationship, often times heterosexual couples don't have children as well, so are they as useless as gay marriages? Should a marriage be required to show results (children) within X number of years or be revoked? Marriage is about paperwork, that's what it boils down to. Gay marriage is about the right to have your GAY SPOUSE visit you in the hospital after a car accident, to decide if the life support should be pulled, to decide who gets the house after the one spouse is dead, to decide if one or the other's insurance will cover the other spouse. Before you say something completely false about spousal insurance coverage for heterosexuals, just remember the couples who don't have kids. Do they get coverage? And if so, WHY? According to you they shouldn't.

truth not myth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! Sexual orientation is determined in the womb during fetus development. Various hormones are introduced at specific times to accomplish this .The fetus plays no part in this process. A person is, therefore, born with a predetermined attraction. It is, therefore, not a choice & consequently not a sin & not immoral. It is a natural expression of our species & found commonplace in nature. Intelligent research in this area clearly explains this process. If you are truly interested in truth, based on knowledge, the book Gay, Straight & the Reason Why by Dr. Simon Levay shows this with numerous research articles. If you want to understand the truth & have respect for yourself & others, that you are entitled to, this book will help. It also has, unlike the bible written over 2000 years ago by men that had no understanding of science, an extensive bibliography. I strongly recommend the book. The public must be exposed to facts & knowledge. It is an obligation for those who know the truth & must defend it. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace

Why do we have to let our beliefs have us treat other people differently or hatefully? Why do mean people full of hate feel the right to justify their horribleness by their religion? I am now just wondering why.

But, still, the USA the most free country in the world. Except, of course, when you are gay and happen to be in the military. Then it is don't ask, don't tell. But still, the USA the most free country in the world. Except, of course, when you are poor and standing in court. Then the rich are more free than you. But, hey, capitalism. But still, the USA the most free country in the world. Except, of course, for paid sick leave. Such a socialist right is practiced only in, for example, communist Scandanavian countries. And we all know how bad it is over there. But still, the USA the most free country in the world. Except, of course, when it comes to paid hollidays. Another communist example. Why get 25 paid holliday days a year when you can work all year around for your boss. I mean you live to work anyway, or don't you? But still, the USA the most free country of the world. Except, of course, when it comes to getting fired at your job because your boss doesn't like what you do in your private life with your sexual orientation. But that is only because your boss feels responsible for maintaining and dictating his own moral "feelings". After all, feelings are important.

And of course, Jesus/Christian idea of love is "if you don't become my willing slave, I'll have you tortured for eternity." Let that sink in - the bible and Jesus love is ultimately torturing whatever you claim to love if they don't become a mindless slave to their invisible god.

So fuck off with this "hijacked" shit. If you honestly think all of these scientists are in cahoots with one another to disregard truth and push their own agenda you're delusional. facts not myth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! Peace

You can't write a law that says "you may be fired if you're not pro equality for women, people of colour, LGBTQIA" etc. The idea is that while we all have our beliefs, we must behave respectfully in public. So if a couple walks into a restaurant and starts making comments about gay people, the server may say "sir, ma'am, you are making people here uncomfortable with your comments. If you continue to disturb other customers, we may ask you to leave". At least that's what I hope for. It's called "poisoning the environment", you can lose your job for doing such a thing.

facts not dogma If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! Peace

Catholic who supports gay marriage here. One thing I love is how often feux Christians will use Leviticus night in and night out to condemn gay people but as soon as you bring up any other Leviticus law (for example that great zinger of a line that says to never mistreat the stranger who comes to homeland because you were strangers in Egypt) it's "Well yeah but that was in the Old Testament"

And it still had some opposition, somehow. I had a lengthy argument with an American friend who thinks that it's an infringement on people's rights by, basically, taking away their right to discriminate. I do not understand the mindset it takes not to reach the conclusion that discrimination based off things people can't control is bad
