Ugh . I have this machine in my apartment and I absolutely hate it the rubber lint filter. I wish it just had a normal lint filter that you can pull out like a standing dryer.

I hate it, trying to dry and i still see some water in rubber thingy. Why does it take so long to dry?! Hate this crap, making me miss my laundromat 😩
THANK YOU! My lint trap was full of nasties clogging it -- so full, I broke the pull handle because the trap was stuck. Luckily, I have little fingers and got it free without the handle AND the handle snaps back together.
Thank you! None of this is in the manual. You're wonderful.

I tried this even though i had a samsung washer and it worked great. I found much mold and much resedue behind the front panel so i had to take it off! It smelt like dead rat and would heat up and make loud screaming like noises but after i checked under the detergent tray my problem was solved! there was a 25 year build up of a mix of asbestos, bleach and dead cockroaches. I also flushed out the water from the bottom and there was some leftovers from 2006 christmas! Thank you so much for the helpful video

I've found a damp microfibre cloth is perfect for getting rid of fluff and whatever else around the door seal. I never have mould in my washing machine, I think, because I always leave the door ajar at the end of every wash cycle. I do the same with the detergent drawer.

Great tip!
Thank you for the very thorough and in-depth video. I didn't even know about cleaning the detergent tray. Fyi when I clean the inside gasket mine has a flap that if you fold it down you will see a bunch more lint. My model might be slightly different.

I have a combi washer/dryer but I just have one question I know there is the lint filter for when your washing the clothes but I dont know where the lint goes when I use the dryer does it go in the same filter?
Can the rubber seal be removed to clean underneath it? I have so much hardened lint under the seal that I can’t possibly get to it all with removing the seal
Thank you. Very helpful

A very informative video Steve! I see lint collected on the Rubber door seal as well. Have you observed the same in your Tumble Dryer please?

Glad it was of use. Yes, I have got the same lint in the door seal. Will have to do a video on it when I get a chance! For now, a vaccum cleaner with a thin head/nozzle should do the trick 👍

When you do the Tub Clean with the tablet, why don't you also put bleach in the bleach compartment? My LG manual lists a number of cleaners and where to put them (in the drum, in the bleach compartment, in the detergent compartment). Sounds like I should just do one of them.

Here's how I clean the lint trap in another of my videos - be careful with draining the hose as it can get messy! As you'll see, I don't use anything special, just some regular cleaning utensils (link should start video at 5:24!) kzread.info/dash/bejne/qIWts6l7kpXUp6w.html
Thanks for the video! One question is: does the lint filter need to be cleaned after every drying cycle as in a normal dryer? If not, how often do you recommend to clean it?
@homehelper9273
Жыл бұрын
Glad you found it useful. I was cleaning it here after a dozen or so drying cycles but it would depend on the type of materials you're drying. I'd say every 6 cycles or so should be fine. Enjoy
Thanks for the video. Have you ever had any lint blockage issue with this machine when it doesn't dry the clothes properly?
@homehelper9273

Fortunately, I've not had any issues. But there are other possible issues stopping the drying function working properly - check out my video on it here kzread.info/dash/bejne/pH-Hls2TY7y9YZM.html
Thank you for the info. Quick question, what do you do after you've applied vinegar and water on the rubber and left it for 15min. Do you keep it then to dry or you turn on the machine at and do a tub clean cycle? Wasn't sure what happened after step. Thanks for letting me know
My washer dryer stopped drying well… any idea what could be the reason?
Thank u so much very helpful
I think you should use liquid detergent to avoid this kind of molds

I've actually switched over to that exclusively of late. Will see if it improves.

Yah when it comes to front loads I'd never use anything but the sheets or the liquid. The powdered detergent just gums things up in so many areas.
We have this and I absolutely hate the lint situation. Wish it had a stand up tray.
Thank U!

hey there! It's at the bottom right but can get messy if not done right. I've just published a video on this here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o393msV7ls2oe8o.html Hope it helps.
Hmmm… was hoping for some not so obvious info. I clean the gasket, and the lint water while disaster piece of idk why LG is thought that would make sense and continue to do so with other models, and the soap dispenser. The issue is the gasket and between the gasket and tub space. The lint/pet hair that accumulates is insane and I can’t get to it.

Just to be sure, you mean the part you can only see when you pull the gasket back a little?
How long have you had this machine?

which part, the detergent tray? or the hose? The hose just needs you to be gentle with it and it should be fine.
Do you realize you did absolutely nothing? The entire machine needs to be taken out of where it is, the plate on the bottom needs to be taken off the back, drained, unscrew the actual lint filter out... Clean that out, and then get something long enough with bristles to get into the pipe and clean that out... Then after you power off and reset your system which is another process, then maybe if you are lucky it'll work right again? What you did accomplished absolutely nothing and by the way coming from an HVAC professional... That unit unfortunately is junk, get rid of it while you can! If you have some ingenuity you can make a screen to catch the majority of the lint before it goes into the pipes and lines. This way it'll keep your vents clean enough so your sensors don't get messed up and you don't have to do everything I just said, instead just remove the screen you installed. Just be sure anything you decide to use needs a complete water tight seal around it to make sure nothing gets through. Otherwise every 6 months you are going to be doing the same thing! Your welcome
