After nearly 3 weeks I love my V30, my prior phone was a Note 5. The dedicated DAC makes even mediocre headphones sound great by adding dynamic range. The wide-angle camera alone makes it worth it. The phone is like a Swiss Army knife with great hardware and options. It's only weakness is for selfies, I'm not so it's not relevant. dat boi Bluetooth has been around for a long time, the problem has been its bitrate (regardless of codec) relative to the larger source size. Like listening to a 96 bit, then 128 bit and now Bluetooth is close but still not lossless relative to CD quality. However, lots of Audio enthusiast including audiophiles like SACD (master level) sound quality. Even pure Bluetooth 5 headphones aren't available yet. It's more accurate to call these new phones *Bluetooth 5 Ready.* It's not possible for digital to match analog and whereas you need to charge Bluetooth headphones you don't need to ever charge wired headphones which last for decades. A typical li-ion battery lasts 2-3 years so unless your Bluetooth headphones has standard and accessible batteries your $100-$500 headphones is going to end up in the trash heap in 2-3 years or so.

A removable battery is not just for swapping the battery when you need to be at 100% within a few seconds. it is also for when after a year of use, your 3300mAh battery becomes more like a 2700mAh battery, and depending on your usage, it may be worth spending $10 to get back to 3300mAh and then have the old battery as a backup.

Exactly. No removable battery means you need to chuck the phone away, or pay some third party to do a warranty voiding replacement in a year or two's time when the battery life starts to suck. Personally I'm not replacing my S5 with a phone that doesn't have a removable battery.

even with battery degradation, things like flashing more lean and stock custom roms can save a phone (this was the case with my Nexus 5, went from having the battery die at lunch during school to it lasting till I get home at around 4). But of course, only the unlocked off contract version of this phone has an unlocked bootloader to allow custom roms and rooting. Another great phone just ruined for me, due to LG handicapping their best devices.

Most people will replace their phone after 1-2 years so they don't need a removable battery. For others though it would be a nice feature.

Yup for sure LG makes good phone but they go unnoticed, i think the biggest reason for it is the LG UI they have to let go of it and go with a more stock android kinda skin. Am sure a more refined software will make people notice the phone more. i make tech videos in my channel. i would appreciate it if you could check it out.

Wrong. The Mate 10 from Huawei is this years most underrated phone. It has everything the LG has going for it but is cheaper. It also is a beautiful phone that will get a minimum of three Android updates versus two that LG might not commit too.

I Think Apple and Samsung always just have more street credit, but LG definitely gives them a run for their money every year. Glad to hear you talk about all the great features this device offers

Great video. How is night light / blue light filter? Would you be to compare this function among s8, iP8, lg v30?

For the home screen you can set it to loop in settings so it moves to the first screen instead of stretching.

Pity about them removing the ability to swap batteries. Without that, there is no chance I will replace my V20 with this. When using it as backup/alternate angle camera, the charge just drops very rapidly. Being able to swap batteries in about 15 seconds is a lifesaver.

Losing Weight, Ripping Vinyl I can relate with you. A removable battery is a faster alternative than having to charge the same battery internal battery. But the issue you'll face is having to upgrade your phone in a couple of years when internal batteries become a standard for most smart phones.

The location of the volume rocker, a non removable battery, the second screen removed and the freaking ir blaster gone is a deal breaker. Loved that in the v10 and v20.

How are the external speakers? I'm used to forward facing speakers on my now ancient HTC One M8. I was going to buy an S8 to replace it in the coming weeks, but this looks very nice....

It annoys me that this video came out so late though. I've had mine for a few weeks now and this phone is amazing. It's easier to handle than the Note. A superior camera (I like to shoot manual) specs are near identical. The screen on the Note is better but it's not THAT much better. I've used Samsung Note since it's inception. However I don't see myself going back. The V30 really is an amazing phone.

I've had my V30 for 2 weeks now and coming from a Droid Turbo, I'm incredibly happy with my phone. The battery, although technically smaller than the Droid, easily lasts me all day despite a lot of use. I'm in love with the display (that viewing angle "issue" really is nothing), the speaker is really loud when you're watching KZread, and THERE'S A HEADPHONE JACK! I'm slowly transitioning away from cords, but it's nice having it so I can play my older, aux cable required, speakers. I 've found that I've been using the wide angle lens (and bragging about it to my friends) more than the normal lens. Finally, I've found the UI is actually really clean (the Droid was stock android + a couple of gestures) and I really like how customizable the LG stuff has been. Overall, incredibly glad I chose this phone. Hope that helps those who were on the fence!

I got this phone about a week ago and 1 thing you didn't mention the front facing camera it's "garbage on lowlights". Otherwise the phone works perfectly good .

The coloring on the pixel screen is way less colorful because they wanted it to look more natural. Lg wanted it to be more flashy so i hope this helps. Lg doesnt have the pixel 2 problem

Hello, ive got my lgv30 and ive just noticed a light bleeding issue on the edges right between the screen and the matel around the sides..now is that normal or a defect? Does yours have that?

This phone is a videographers phone. This thing got like tons of video making options but above all that wide angle lens, i can never understand why other companies don't adopt wide angle lens than the zoom lens. i mean nobody even care about the zoom lens if its not used for the portrait mode lol. Anyway a great phone from LG but will go unoticed because of the hype train syndrome. i make tech videos in my channel.If you have some time to spare please check it out. i would really appreciate it if you could check it out.

Do you think the v30 screen is the same as LG used on the pixel 2 xl? Just wondered cause of all the hype with the screen on the pixel.

I still kinda miss the second screen though. Especially the notifications that showed up there instead of on the main screen allowed me to focus on what i was doing whether it was gaming or reading without a giant banner coming across the top and blocking part of the screen.

We want LG to launch this great phone in India soon...please LG...do it early

This is probably the main reason I'm most likely going to change after I upgrade from my V20. I love the device, and I dont really have any major issues with the LG UX. What I do have a problem with is that despite getting an update to android 8.0 the device rarely gets security patch updates. My current is September 2018 which is almost 7 months old. Besides that update I'm pretty sure I didn't get a single one when I was still running Nougat for over a year. All the while I have a 200$ Sony Xperia L1 that has the latest February 2019 patch, and has been regularly getting patched since. Very frustrating indeed. Maybe they will have a bit better of a reputation for updating later this year when ill likely be upgrading to a new daily driver.

I have the G4 right now which was repaired once because of bootloop issue and I just hate LG for taking ages to release Android 7.0 for the G4 when 8.1 was already announced. Sadly the V30 is the only phone I would currently consider upgrading to when I ignore software updates and bootloop issues :( I guess I have to wait for samsung to fix the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S8+ and get one of these instead.

True Hybrid Of The Sun Doesn’t matter. Situations like the bootloops can have a long lasting inpact on someone’s decision to stick with that brand. When it happened to my V10 the first time, I brushed it off my shoulder even though I was extremely pissed about it. When it happened to my replacement, that was the last straw. I don’t trust LG’s devices anymore.

I got a lg v30. Screen is good. No issues. Double tap to sleep and mini view have issues. Xda one handed mode app kinda works.

Will using the hifi DAC drain your battery significantly? For v30

YIC I have an LG stylo 3 plus and for now no issues at all it's fast and snappy it has 2GB of ram a snapdragon processor with 8 cores so it's fast and battery life is really good as well I had it for a month or so yeah let's see what happens when it gets to one year of usage

This would be a tremendous upgrade for me considering I just took over my wife's V10 at X-mas. LG has had some issues, both my g4 and V10 got stuck in the LG bootloop. I sent them in after the warranty had expired and they were both fixed no questions asked.

How cool would it be if there was a hinge like setup for the rear facing cameras so that they could be turned around and used as a selfi camera...

Good review. I would recommend reviewing the V20 series. There are great new features in the V30 POLED, DAC, and processor. Many comments throughout the video comparing V30 to V20 like second display, headphone jack, and certain aesthetic features are not accurate.

I just got the V30 a week ago and am having a problem with the audio quality when i am on the phone. my boyfriend on the other line says he cant here what im saying at random points during the conversation, like the connection is completely breaking up and it cuts me off completely. he cant hear what i just said. this just started becoming an issue with this new phone. has anyone else had an issue like this??

Curious how folks feel about the boot loop issue that plagued previous gens. Love my v10 but had to have it replaced bc of the issue. Not sure I want to take the risk again.

So it doesn't really matter if I get under 50ohms headphones it will trigger the Hi-Fi, right. I mean the quality would be much better with higher and 24ohms or so but it will be still good experience?

does this suffer from bootloop? i had lg g pro 2 and the v10, both had bootloop problems, lost so many photos and data.
