Thank you - It is a shame that the appliances we have, do not hold up the way our grandparent's appliances did. This LG was not cheap - but after only 2 years I replaced the igniter of the broiler - and now the igniter of the oven. Your instructions were easy to follow.

Why LG Appliances fail over short years. Both my LG dishwasher and range failed in less than 5 years. I have two different size microwaves of other companies and still using, one for five years and the other over 10 years and still they are working.

Great video- very helpful. Thank you for posting it Scott. I removed the center back cover of the unit (you have to remove the console back cover as well though), and located the igniter harness connection on the bottom. There wasn't enough space to slide the new connector through the gap, but removing 1 screw to the right of the burner tube was enough to lower the tube in the hole and enable clearance for the connector. The extra steps I noted are mostly removing screws, but there are a LOT of them to get the back covers off. Also, I recommend taking a picture of the burner assembly, as I struggled to reassemble it correctly. It's tricky to get the 2 support brackets together with the igniter, and the igniter is fragile, so you have to be extra careful not to touch it or bump it as you attach it to the 2 bracket pieces. Good luck!

Thank you for this info. It was very helpful. My model is engineered so poorly LSG4513ST. They could have made it like the older models with enough room to pass the cord and connector through. I saw your comment and did the same thing after watching this video. I had to take the burner off since there wasn't enough room in mine to wiggle it through. It was a lot of unnecessary disassembly. I wrapped the igniter piece in some bubble wrap and taped it up since so many people said it was fragile. Removed the bubble wrap from the igniter just before putting the middle cover back on the burner assembly.

Very helpful especially removal of the door. I switched the glow igniter from the broiler to the oven and now the oven function works. I rarely use the broiler so it was a zero cost repair.

Thank you for this video. While there are others showing how to replace the igniter, this is the only one showing the model where the gas line and igniter are on the rear wall not on the bottom. And since this is such a common issue, replacing the igniter should have been as easy as replacing a light bulb. It's a pity that people now spend upwards of $250 to hire a pro to replace this.

Thank you for the video. I really thought I could push the electrical plug connection past the gas pipe and into the back to the oven, so I wouldn't have to splice the wires. I'd still be pushing that wire every which way but loose if not for your video. You just saved me spending the rest of my life fighting with a wire plug that just doesn't fit through. This is a good video and helped me considerably. One suggestion… I was having an issue with removing the mounting bracket from the old igniter cage; the screw was seized. I just swapped the igniter cages and used the old cage with the new ignitor.

HELP!!! How did you screw the ignitor back in?????? Something is missing.

thank you. its quick and easy if all the screws come out. One of the screws broke, and another had to be sawed off. i also opened up the back panel to connect the wires with the snap on tip. had to loosen the burner a bit to run the wires to the back. Here's my question. My original ignitor had a "cage" around it. My replacement didn't. Will installing an ignitor without the cage result in a shorter life span?

Good instructional video. What annoys me is that I have to replace this about once a year. The Amazon replacements are cheap, but don't last long.

Hi @scott! I followed your instructions until cutting the wire of the old igniter. But I couldn’t fit the new wire connector through the hole. It’s simply too big. What should I do? I was told cutting the heat resistent layer around the wire could be dangerous because it could ignite itself. I was so close to fixing my problem but now I’m stuck. Can you please help?

I have a lsg4513st oven with the f9 error code and after watching your video purchased a replacement igniter on Amazon from a brand called Repairwares that had good ratings ... i was careful with the install when switching the bracket, and careful not to touch the ignitor surface and made the wire nut connections ... everything seemed fine, tested before reassembly and it worked then reassembled and tested a couple more times still worked ... that night turned on over for dinner and a flash of light and sound came from the oven that tripped the breaker ... reset breaker and dissasembed to find the ignitor in pieces and the metal bracket partly melted ! Went to local parts store to get what I assume was a more legitimate ignitor and tried it out, now there is no power to ignitor ... the ignitor from Amazon that failed fried some of the oven control electronics so now I have a bigger and more expensive problem ... not sure how common this is but found at least one other person on Amazon with same story so buyer beware ...

I can see a flame in the back area, but it won't pre-heat over 135'f. Would that still be the issue anyways? The broiler won't fire if it matters.

Yep, Highly likely it’s a worn out igniter.

Hi in my case I can see the igniter glowing but nothing is igniting ... if I understand correctly from the video and comments the igniter glowing doesnt mean its hot enough to ignite the gas and that if the igniter doesnt get hot enough, then the relay board wont open the gas valve ..or is it the relay board opens the gas valve but igniter won't ignite the gas and then you get an F9 after 5 min?

It does come with ceramic wire nuts. Yep, you just bend out the metal frame and slip the new igniter in and bend the frame back👍

Got error code F19 on bottom oven of a double oven LG oven meaning that lower oven is not reaching temp properly. Does this sound like the same problem which would require replacing igniter next to the circular fan behind back wall of the lower oven?

My LG double oven bakes but won’t broil after self clean and I remember the power on the wall plug clicking off twice and then you have to push that button in the wall for power. This oven is 3 yrs old and model LDG4313ST but I’ve only used the broiler to melt cheese on subs a couple times. Any advice is appreciated!

No need to splice the wires if you take the back panel off the range. You may need to loosen the flame tube to fit the plug through the hole.

Wondering how you took the back panel off. I was attemping to pull the plug through the firewall, and it dissconnected falling into the stove. I have no idea how to get it out of there to install my new part. Thanks!

One would think so. However, the gap between the cut out and flame tube is not wide enough for the plug to slide through, as you suggested, thereby requiring loosening/removal of the pipe, which didn’t look obvious/simple. Much easier to splice the wires as he did IMO.

Can you try a new igniter? Even though it lights the old igniter might be letting the flame go out to early. It could also be a bad relay board.

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thanks for getting back to me... Turns out the line feeding it was frozen! I am running the stove off a BBQ Tank and the regulator was frozen...nothing a heat gun couldnt take care of!

Sounds like with the panel off there’s more oxygen available which makes it easier to light but with the panel aren’t it’s harder for it to light and it may be showing that the igniter is getting weak and needs to be replaced.

I followed your directions, and the new igniter works perfectly! But the oven light stays on all the time! Any suggestions?

Can you try jiggling the oven door switch. When the oven door closes it should turn off the light.

Replaced the oven igniter on LG gas range model LRG5115ST. Lighted it up and smelled gas coming out of the oven. Called a technician and he lined up the igniter better then I did and all is good now. Charged me an arm and a leg for doing it.

Hello Scott, Our LG oven is 3 years old(LSG4513ST), and it will not maintain the proper temp. I set the oven for 350 and It signals that it's at 350 yet in fact it's only reached 250 at the most. Ten minutes later the thermostat we bought(in order to figure out why we are having baking problems) reads 350. I bake in it and the product is not "done"(brownies are like mush). We already replaced the thermometer (not sure of technical name). It sits in back right rear wall of oven. Anyway, can the ignitor work, yet not work properly? I have the self clean feature on this model and right after I used it, it quit working. I will never use the self clean cycle again on any oven I buy. The touch pad is on the front of this model and all of the choices on it work (ex: clock, timer, oven light, temp reading) Please advise.

Hi Cynthia, The igniter is just getting weak. Replacing it is easy and will get it baking again. 3 years with lots of use means it is at the end of its service life.

To be clear, you are tucking the wires back behind the firewall. But the porcelain wire nets are not behind the wall, correct?

Hi Scott, loved the video! We have the same error, the F9, its quite frustrating. Anyways, we can get around it by clearing, the error and trying once or twice more and the oven will then heat. Is that an igniter issue? Or could it be the relay? I guess my point is, that eventually the oven will ignite. Thoughts? Thanks buddy!

I have two issues with this video: 1. Many LG model igniters come with a plug / no need to cut wires, but you do have to remove the rear panel. 2. The particular generic igniter did not fit in my oven space - the screws are on the wrong side. Looking online, one can find better fitting igniters with a plug for a similar price, so I think the particular generic igniter you suggest is not very helpful

@@myfabulouschaos8002 it’s Pretty easy. Just grab the old metal case with one hand on the right and the other hand on the left and gently bend the metal case outward. Now you can slip out the old igniter. Do the same thing to the new igniter. Slide the new porcelain igniter into the old metal frame and then bend the old metal frame in on the new igniter.
