Hands-on review of the LG C8 OLED 4k HDR TV
Full review: www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c8
The LG C8 OLED is a great TV, with impressive picture quality especially when viewed in a dark room. It is great for those with wide seating as the image remains accurate at an angle.

I like how you do comparisons at the end. That's really helpful.
Great review guys and it was good seeing you on Joey's channel. Very cool about talking about this years models.
Fantastic detailed yet clear review and comparison. Keep up the good work!
This is, by far, the most informative review on the LG C8, especially while compared to its peers. Keep up the great reviews Daniel!
Great review, loved the details, please keep doing these, especially for the 2019 models
just to clarify something here this is the best KZread channel for TVs ever these guys are awesome you got should support their channel these guys do this out of their own pocket help them out thanks
Great review again thanks!
Got this one for gaming in particular. By far the best decision I have made in a long time. A professional review, very helpful.
Great Reviev. Thank you guys and greetings from Germany!👌😎
Looked everywhere to see if the bezel/edge on the C8 had any light or LG logo, this video has a perfectly clear shot at 1:09 confirming its a nice clean line with no logo, bump or central feature of any kind, just as I’d hoped, thank-you to the camera operator and lighting staff for this 👍
Great review as always. Thx!
Really great review. Thank you from Poland.
Rtings there appears to be an issue with 2018 LG OLEDs when displaying near-black colors. All of their OLEDs from 2018 have a flashing issue when the tv tries to display very dim colors and it’s pretty noticeable. Check out this example at 11:22: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZ6DxNpmXbLXaMo.html What do you know about this? Is there a way to fix it or a reason it’s happening, and how does it change your recommendation? I am currently in the market for an OLED.
Grabbing one of these in 55”, gonna be perfect for my new game room setup
Holy crap this was an awesome review
terrific review and insights. thanks.
As always good advice
really helpful with the decision process and help consumers consider other options based on their type of use and area. C8 is going into the theatre room definitely!! Hope it's more than good enough for my possibly moderate to high use of PlayStation games and NBA streaming 🤣 thanks guys 👍🏼👍🏼
Love your reviews! They are the best! But I'd like to see you talk about the Black Frame Insertion (Motion tech) in your reviews, especially comparing it to the Sony A8F.
You make the best videos !!
I'd love to see mention of the inputs on the TV in future reviews, I have a lot of old consoles and it's getting really hard to find a TV that supports them, they rarely support composite, component and/or analogue coax, and often those that do have very poor scaling or massive input lag. Also I have a LOT of newer consoles and video devices so knowing the number of HDMI ports would also be helpful.
Fantastic review, looking forward to an A8F review
Thanks Daniel
Good review
Id love to see a review of the TCL 6 Series! I'm just waiting on you guys to review it before I buy... this wait is so HARD!
There are a lot of sellers moving the 55” C8 for around $1600, so buyers need to take that into consideration when comparing.
After watching this, and several other reviews, 100 times I finally pulled the trigger and bought this TV. Can't wait to swap out my 9 year old Samsung LED with this beauty!
Waiting for the C9 Review!!! Very curious about the improvements to game mode with Interpolation enabled vs the Samsung competitor tvs input lag results.
Love my c7
Thanks for the review Rtings! The c8 is the best TV of the world!!! Now with black frame! Yay!!! In Game Mode! Best TV of 2018!!! I will have the of 65 inches!!!
It also has the best design to me .
Great review. looking at A8 vs C8 vs Q6 or Q7 of Samsung. Which is a better proposition? Price wise A8 of Sony is highest and Q6 is lowest, the difference between C8 and Q6 is 10%

Obed Blas q9 gets black, but where it lacks is showing detail in black levels because it's full array lmao it'll never be able to show off darker scenes, just like the oled cant show off the brighter scenes, but brighter is better, darker is oled ftw

The tv made for my!
Are you planning on doing a TCL 6-Series review?
great review, but what about frame interpolation. has it been improved compared to last years models?
I spent 1500USD for the Sony X900F. Every peny worths it. Gaming with the X box one X is a blast. No input lag at all.
Just bought a 65" C8 and I love it. There are tools and practices available to avoid burn in, so that really wasn't a concern for me. I mainly wanted the contrast since I have a dedicated, light controlled theater room. The C8 is dropping in price now, so there will be great deals for the rest of its run. By the way, I love your videos! Your body movements seem almost robotic in a way, which is kind of cute, actually.

@@xDemonxNero146x There is a menu option (I can't remember what it is right now, but it's easy to find) built into LG OLED TVs that, when turned on, slightly shifts pixels every so often to mitigate burn in. Also, you can simply avoid displaying static images for more than an hour. Reducing the brightness setting as low as possible is also very helpful. I have my TV in a totally dark room, so I have the brightness turned all the way down, but if yours will be in a brighter room, this may not be possible. Also, if you notice burn in starting to occur, like from a station logo for example, you should change to a non static program and play it for a an hour or so, then turn the TV off for an hour or so. Then it should be fine when you turn it back on. The bottom line is that you should always avoid displaying static images for more than an hour, being mindful of TV station logos. If you do this, you won't have any problem.

@@dlg5485 So the C8's shit for gaming as nearly all games have static HUD's (Heads up displays). Dk whether to go for the C8 or Q9F for my Xbox One X. I'll be playing games like Red Dead and Forza that both have static HUD's

@@iv3010 Not everyone is a basement dwelling obsessive gamer. I couldn't care less about that. I primarily watch movies on my OLED and don't game at all.
I miss cedric, i would go for the sony oled for the upscaleing and motion alone, but the burn in is a deal breaker, sticking to led for a couple of years to they figure out oled.
Is the af8 have better motion then this
Great video! question for you, I can get my hands on a brand new LG C8 55" for under $1800 OR I could get a 65" B6 like yours new in the box and everything for about $2,100, what should I do?
Thanks Daniel. Quick question can you really notice the difference between a TV with 5500:1 and 4500:1 contrast And would you say VA panels with higher contrast have worst viewing angles?
All hail the C8
I noticed recently that the C8 has a composite input. how does older sd content (vhs/laser disc) look on these sets?
Goud video. How is colorimetry in game mode? Many people say that it is ugly and that the pictures also in this mode.
In the HDTVTEST the input lag say that is 21ms in 4k with HDR!You tell that the input lag is 29ms!Sorry for my English..
If I don't calibrate my TV, which temperature setting is the best? Warm 1 or 2 and second question if I test your white balance, should I also use this setting in dolby vision mode? Thanks so much!
Any chance on getting the TCL S517 anytime soon? It won't hit your pocket like the C8, that's for sure.
Daniel - have you seen a white rectangle pop up while watching Netflix? I ran into this problem on my 1-week old C8. any recommendations on how to fix?
04.10.31 was a hopeless update - it made the Quad Step Noise Reduction launched on the 2018 OLEDs (and the reason why I bought the TV) stop working. The colour banding used to be virtually non existent but is now terrible and makes the TV virtual unwatchable at times. LG called me on 16th April and confirmed that they are aware of the major error in 04.10.31 (Quad Step Noise Reduction inactivated) and are about to release a fix for it imminently.
Hi i have question, when i will mirror let say 4k movie on mine 1080p native pc monitor to samsung mu8000 will it show 4k or upscaled 1080p? Do I need 4k monitor to mirror 4k on 4k tv or change resolution on mine 1080p monitor to 2160p?
Why didn’t you guys do a review of the LG E8?
C8 anytime
Hey Rtngs after watching tons of reviews including yours, i finally decided to get the C8 on Black Friday. However what i would like to know is if the TV can connect to smart LED light blob at home, or do i need to get Alexa for it to work? Thanks In Advance!

If I am right now getting the same price for LG C8 and Sony X900F and Samsung QF9 QLED and Sony A8 is expensive compared with this offer. For a room with 500 nit lightning at day which is better ? LGC8 or Sony X900F? TCL R615 is not available in my location. Mine is average 30 degree Celsius warm tropical room.
very good image operating system the same but has big problems on the motion chapter!
I just got the LG OLED and it's really dark...what are the optimal brightness and contrast settings?
pls tell me if that tv has 8ms response time whicch will be input lag 30 ms ???? www.mi.com/mitv4/75/specs/
ive been using my 1080p OLED for years with no burn in issues

bs11100010 This is very reassuring! Do you do a lot of gaming?
How is this compare to the Sony A8F,picture and sound quality-wise?
Thank you for your Review. It was very helpful for my decision of buying a TV. I loved my C8. The picture is great. But now I'm very angry about the update politics of LG. The software, esp. updates, are part of the core of a modern TV. The update politics should be part of the Test. And if it is like in the case of LG, that after one year, there are no more serious update (like VRR etc.) without no reason (c8 and c9 nearly the same hardware!?), you should decrease the test result of this tv.
This organic compound that will degrade with usage... does that mean my tv is just going to fade out and lower quality over time? (Im not so worried about mitigating the burn in)
Will you do TCL 6 series and vizio p series this year to?
Hi For when a Panasonic Oled 2018 review?
Hi, which one is better UK7550PLA or SK7900PLA? The price is the same.
no mention of better Game mode HDR?
I'm not sure if I like the fact that we can't turn off the dimming feature when watching brights or whites. I'll wait until OLED gets cheaper.
I dunno why but he reminds me somehow of scarecrow for "Batman Begins"
#1. Who buys the TV's after your company finishes the review? #2. Also, do you think VR (Oculus) will hurt the TV market? #3. And, why haven't TV producers implemented auto-brightness sensors depending on room brightness (smartphone?)
Oled is very cool
is the 4k hdr input lag right? because other testing sites say its also 21ms??
I really don't know which one is good c8 b8 or b7 i want this tv for gaming ps4 pro and movies but i read lg don't have a good brightness so please can any one help me to chose the best one for greatness game mode
I wish you’d keep still.
Which disc calibrates the screen?
Seem like I will be buying 2017 model
Looking for a replacement stand for this tv, any suggestions?
Did Cedric quit or where is he? Like new presenter guy too though :)
I initially thought this was a Saturday Night Live skit.
Any recommended for picture settings ?

I can tell you from experience its not easy to satisfy an audience when it comes to being a presenter on videos like these. But yes, it does seem like he was coached to bounce around while talking more. Its a learning process for most presenting jobs like this. So expect Daniel to improve in time.
How it will look like if wall mount? Is there speakers in the base? What happen with this base if wall mount?
@hafiazuhuba
5 жыл бұрын
Then curved base will help the TV to direct the audio to you. You can actually wall mount it and the stand will be deemed as useless.
The bouncing when he talks is cute 😁
Why does every other review state 21ms input lag for 4K HDR gaming, but you say it 30ms. Why the discrepancy?

Nazrul Islam upscaling is the same.... In an earlier video they said not to base you purchase on upscaling technology as they all perform the same
@geoffyates2249
6 жыл бұрын
Yeah if your content is compressed and your going for 65” or bigger you may be better off with a Sony with X1 Extreme processor. Probably going to irk people having played with a C7 and a Sony. However, the Sony is slightly better with upscaling and is one of the few reasons for purchasing over the LGs. If your content is 720p or better than C7 or C8 is very good and should not be a factor. In Australia we have a lot of OTA and cable content at 576p/i and cable content is highly compressed. Therefore upscaling may have a higher weight when considering a TV.

@geoffyates2249

Damien Haven,t tried the NES or equivalent. Have a Xbox One S for 360 games. The only game that looks not so good on the 65” is Mass Effect. Most look pretty good especially the Rare games like Banjo and Perfect Dark. Also stress it can’t make really bad content look great.
