I've had these lights for quite a while now, and they're just superb and exceptionally reliable. I'm still getting car drivers giving me more room when they're overtaking me. I've had loads of other cyclist asking me about these lights and saying how bright and impress they look from a distance. I wouldn't worry about the "alert" function of these lights, they're just a gimmick in my opinion and are not needed at all.

Thanks for the review. I ride in both built up and rural areas mainly in the daytime so the Rear Strip Alert Drive 150 seems to be the better option for me! Love the accelerometer function which is worth the extra £10 at £36 over the standard model.

I just bought one as I like to run a rear tial light during the day and this one is blindingly visible. As others have said better to run at 60 lumens during the night. The modes were a bit confusing at first and hard to see but this video explains them well. I don't think you need anymore. I have a standard 27.2 seat post and the Lezyne fits well with the wide rubber strap and doesn't look like it will fall off like some of the cheaper lights I've used. I find I can angle the strap a little on the clips to create a more vertical orientation of the light, or sit the base of the light over the seat post clamp, at least on my road bike as it faces backwards.

The 2022 is also decent light. I also discovered the bit covering the USB is a clip and can be removed with a pair of closed tweezers on one side, giving you access to the internals (which slide out), so a future battery replacement may be possible and if water gets in, you can dry out and clean the electronics.

I bought this light . It's good to know you are being seen by drivers. But it needs a better battery level indicator. So you know if there sufficient charge for a ride. Also the battery doesn't seem to last long .

Great addition to Lezyne's better tail light array. It IS a shame that they truncated the selection of modes on the Alert series. While the 10 or 11 mode selections of the other premium tail lights might have been overkill, these five selections are really almost too few. I don't see a good option for night riding at a steady state: almost all seem to cycle to readily to catch the eye of drivers from behind. There are a few key patterns in other Lezyne tail lights that I have come to rely on. May have to pass on this in favor of a new 300lumen model with standard features.

thank you for the video with good demonstrations. I'm buying this model from my LBS specially because a I need to be more visible during daytime. From your experience, the modes Flash 1 and 2 (both with 60 lumens) are a good optino for day time? Or only the 300 lumens is the best option?

I have the 150 Lumen version and that is pretty bright. Drivers do seem to overtake wider when in use during the day and night. The braking feature is great for road safety, especially on the lanes where there can be loads of potholes and of all things those blasted conkers. My only criticism is the strap, sometimes I feel rubber sections on either end do not fully engage in to the lights housing, maybe that will change with more wear and tear. On occasions, I have stopped to make sure it is still there after a bone-shaking section of rural roads.

That’s a good point about the strap, although it’s the same mounting mechanism as my other lezyne light that has been going strong for the past 3 years so I have no worries about it coming loose!

@@EllTechnology Good to know. I am also struggling to know what light mode I am in, as the light goes solid then flashes then solid etc (it would be good if there was one mode without the accelerometer @ say 100 lumens) have you found that to be the case?

Yeah a non-motion mode would’ve been a good addition in my opinion, especially for use at night when you don’t want a strobe light attached to the back of your bike when in traffic etc. I’ve resorted to using my other lezyne light at night to be more sociable for other drivers!

I bought the Pro 300 recently, amazingly attention grabbing! This thing is bright as hell. I'm going to buy a second one as I'm going to put a 12" long bar on the back so I can fit one at each end of the bar, left and right hand side of the seat post as it were

@@waynevargo7981 I now have two of these lights, they're superb, powerful and the battery life is excellent for a light of its size. They're very attention grabbing at night time. I've noticed a big difference from motorist who tend to keep their distance more than previously and it does help to make you feel safer on the roads at night.

Can we turn off alert?

How do I know what mode is ON?

I just got this light it's pretty sweet though I wish I can just plug it in directly to my bike's battery so I don't have to charge it. Does anyone know how many volts battery it takes? I'm assuming maybe 3.7V li-ion battery? As you could probably tell I am lazy and don't want to charge any lights. My front light- Fisher Fab House light plugs directly to my battery and I love it but have yet to find a rear light with stop/warn signal capability to plug into my 72V battery pack lol.

A light that lasts 200 hrs vs 2 or 20 is far superior! A light where you can carry a spare battery or two easily vs having to charge a rechargeable light for several hours is better, too! Where is the bright, long lasting rear light where I can use a rechargeable 18650 battery AND carry a spare? That would be the best light, bright/long run time/immediate battery change IF needed AND rechargeable. Wow. Am I the only one who wants those four features?!

thanks for uploading, I hadn't realised this was realised. I have 2 of the strip drive Pro 300s on both my sons bikes which I borrow when on a solo ride, and was about to buy a 3rd for my own bike, I noticed the price had recently dropped from £50 to £35 , perhaps as this is now on wiggle for £55. I did lots of research before buying the strip drive pro and the 300 lumen output was the best I could find to put on my kids bikes, everybody notices them and slows down, they are brilliant for safety. the only downside being there are actually to many modes to chose from. so it looks like lezeyne have listened to the feedback and trimmed down the modes. does this just work with an accelerometer inside or something? do you think its worth the extra £20 over the standard strip drive pro 300?

Although there’s no technical documentation, I’d guess it uses an accelerometer to detect braking. The max output is still 300 lumens so there’s no improvement there - I hadn’t realised that the price of the other model had recently dropped so I’m not sure if the alert feature is worth an extra £15. However for the £50 that I paid (the same price as the previous model), I have no complaints!

@@EllTechnology seems very impressive technology, in your experience how effective is the alert feature? I usually use 300 lumen day flash, if decelerating would a car behind understand the different flash signifies me slowing? or would it be just another flash? the build quality of these lights is very impressive, they seem built to last, i was considering the bontrager range, but lezyne seems to be ahead of the game especially with lumens.

I always try to run in day flash mode during daylight as it definitely grabs attention and I feel the alert mode helps with that too without causing confusion to drivers! There are a few other brands that can output more lumens consistently but lezyne are ahead in terms of peak brightness.

That’s interesting I haven’t seen that light before although at 800 lumens on the rear light (a light mainly to stay seen and not to light the way) it’s getting a bit too bright for use in populated areas without dazzling other drivers - the $200+ pricetag without a battery or mount also means it’s not entirely competing with compact and aero lights such as the strip drive!

do Lezyne lights work while plugged to a usb port?ie can i plug this to a power bank and use it at maximum setting? only some models? none?

Hi, No the lights (or at least the 3 I use) don’t work while charging. You either have the option to use the light on battery power OR to charge the light, not both at the same time! Hope that helps

Hi, unfortunately that isn’t an option on this light so the closest you could get is having it on the lowest lumen setting and using it in that mode! Hopefully that helps

@@patrickculleton9939 ,Is the light modes for being safe,are not being on so you can be killed riding your bicycle?(Here in North America trying to get to Santos Bike Shop from Ocala,Florida,and their is a little way on the cross slope where glass,and bits of asphalt,and their is no bicycle path on this part of the highway,and some of them you get on the highway some go as far as close by you just to inform you to get off the highway!(I suggest this type of rear bicycle tailight,and avoid what a salesman,are saleswoman will tell you!{She says"60 Lumen Light&Motion where the light is coming from a candy icy coating it looks like it is coming from beneath a cake!I regret buying it!}I advise 100 to 200 lumens!There is other than Light&Motion,and Lezyne is better!

I bought one of these two weeks ago. In day mode (300 lumen) the battery lasts just over an hour. I am truly disappointed with the battery life.

I can get between 3:00 and 3:30 hours in day flash mode so that sounds a bit short! Unfortunately the battery life on this light isn’t the best I’ve ever seen but on my light at least will last a few commutes without requiring charging.

Question. Which ones battery last long on daylight. The Strip or the Zecto drive max? I only cycle in the day and need something that will last me 5-7hrs since I’m sort of a slow rider. Lol

The Zecto drive max is definitely best for battery life - in the 250 lumens day flash mode it’ll last for around 8:30/9:00 hours!

I have the 300 alert, and it died after just over 5 hours on Day Flash last week. Disappointing. But mate said it was working well.

Hi, I mostly use steady mode in my lights (lezyne calls it blast). I'm wondering if brake detection would be useful in this case. Is "braking mode" brighter than the one (blast mode) you can select by button?

Hi, Yeah that’s correct, the braking mode output is brighter than the modes available to choose from on the light - so would still be useful in your case!

Hi, no unfortunately the braking function cannot be disabled on this light. Would’ve definitely been a worthwhile option though I think.

Can't find them anywhere. Like it's been discontinued or something.

There’s two constant modes to choose from, blast and economy. They’re shown from 1:22 and 1:25 in the video.

I think it looks like there's a short circuit or something wrong with the tail light as if I'm a driver in a car behind this bicyclist seeing a light flashing sometimes, solid sometimes, always changing. if the average driver can decode what's going on they're smarter than the average driver. I honestly couldn't tell what this light was doing at any given time.

How is this is going to tell the car behind you you are slowing down or stopping when a car driver does not know what these mean it is good enough to make new lights with brake lights but it is no good wing car drivers do not know what these mean for they know it is a light is flashing when a light has different kinds of modes but if you get a light with a built-in brake light like I I said how this is going to help a bike or a cyclist to let the car behind to you are slowing down or are breaking you take as red with a car or a motorbike when it is slowing down or creeping or using the brake pedal to let the car behind you are slowing down or stopping you make products to make people safe on their bikes I cannot see the point of this when a car driver does not know what all these mean paying for something for safety wise is a good idea but if a car driver or a nava cyclists or a motorbike how would they know what these lights mean a back of your bike all they would do is think it is a a light with different kinds of Flash modes

good in theory,but n practice any following driver will be totaly unaware of any special modes and functions. What cyclist i didnt see a cyclist. Good show.

I've just been looking for taillights and come to look for a review on this. I agree with your comments.. I'm not really in to the fancy modes, but I don't see the point in multiple ones for various road layouts and stopping vs sudden stopping. A: If I owned the light and was behind someone who also had one, I still wouldn't know what they meant, as I would never remember them. B: Car drivers are definitely not going to understand it. If they are going to integrate these systems, then they only need to make it a break light, nothing else! No flashing, no strobing, just a higher static brightness upon breaking. It's a universal function of every road legal vehicle in the world.

As a driver and only relatively recent cyclist, I can tell you we will notice a bicycle light changing in pattern or intensity. Also, I don't even watch motorsport but I think I've seen clips of race cars using this strobe effect when braking, so that's another way some drivers might understand or associate what the braking functions mean.

Just bought this light, mine turn off after 4 hours on Flash 1 , that should last 7 hours, that’s not even close to the claimed time.
