Previous design and engineering was a perfection.

Not putting that good ol v8 engine on the new one is a crime. I dont think it would be as bullet proof as the na v8 but ill give it a couple years.

No ceiling vents on Overtrail trims and no KDSS on the other trims. GX550 is nothing but a disappointment. I will keep my 2015 GX and 2014 LX.

@@juanshaftpatel7488well there no choice for 3rd row on overtrail. No choice for 3zone climate on overtrail at this price. I love the new GX but bummed that Lexus doesn’t give us the choice. Off-road capability vs 3rd row and climate. Why can’t I have both at 80+

Previous GX feels like a true bank vault with flat crisp handling and firm feel, but slower with old relaxed V8. New one is turbo V6 quicker but more basic interior finishes, flimsier newer Lexus feel and wafts & rolls all over without the KDSS crispness, except on Overtrail. Just different. Very different vibes so it maybe one of the first times the new model attracts very different buyers.

New GX is no longer as luxurious as the 460. The 460 had better materials in it than the new one. Lexus needs to improve the interior and add the the 3rd row to the Overtrail versions.

I’ve decided to update my 2022 GX to the new GX when the wheels fall off some time in 2052.

This is the only place I’ve heard someone refer to the 550 as an “improvement” to the 460. Even from dealers. Kinda wild, but I guess you gotta sell the new ones.

The new GX is nothing more than a upgraded 4Runner! If you want a Lexus buy the LX!

Dustin, I can appreciate the comparison/contrast between the two vehicles. I can appreciate the beauty of both SUVs. The newer one is an awesome new direction that Lexus is taking with being more innovative. The look puts you in the mind of a Landrover/G Wagon! Love it man!

New gx should be named gx340 lol

the previous model is much more beautiful than the new one, the New models are losing the front grille that made the Lexus unique. I really DON'T like these new models. (I say this as a Lexus owner.)

I’m a current Lexus owner (2008 GS, 2010 RX), and the Predator mouth front grill does not float my boat. I really DON’T like the large front grills. I LOVE the new GX because it is much more conservative and doesn’t scream look at me. I have a deposit down for the 2025 GX Overtrail Plus because Lexus is now building a car that suits my taste.

As a Lexus owner myself it’s a beautiful redesign. It’s going up against the Range Rover defender. More off road focus . If you don’t like it buy a bmw 😅or Mercedes 😂.

He can't assure us that the twin turbo V6 of the GX 550 won't blow up due to front crankshaft bearing overheating and subsequent failure. No one at Toyota can.

Great Video. My friend. I am pretty excited to get the OverTrail Plus. Hood lines line up the tires so you know where the tire are when off roading I do believe. Does the GX550 Have the start stop feature ? My only thing I dislike and it took me a while to find something i didnt like. But the OverTrail comes with plactic step rails. I would prefer the rock bars I think they are called.😀😃😁 Can't wait for MIne.. First One. 😁 The shifting in that truck compare to what i am driving so much better. I love the mechanical feeling of putting it in to gear love it.. That and its stays in gear lol.. Thats my favorite feature.. I could write so much about that suv..Just amazing.. and i am super nit picky lol... Sorry Dustin. lol

V8's are nice but you must admit the sound of a turbo charger with a blow off value is even better. 😁

Love the comparison, just wanted to point out a couple of minor mistakes. The gx460 uses real wood and aluminum inlays. The gx460 rear seat also slide forward to get into the third row now supposed to hop over it.

What about the hood flutter?

GX460 is overall a better vehicle. The GX550 is way overpriced to begin with, some dealers have them listed for 105k in the US. Plastic monitone interior, untested turbo v6 engine, and complicated electronic / numb driving feel. All this for some who'll be driving this in the city for most the time.

What is the point of this video? The old gx is gone. No more. Done. You should have done a video explaining what the issues are with the new engine block breaking down and the problem w the hood of the new gx rattling on highway speeds. There’s severe issues with this car that needs to be addressed and they’re all over the internet now. Toyota f*ked up and need to fix this super quick.

The Old GX are available on the used market at a 20-30% lower cost than the new GX. This video is helpful to potential buyers like me who would consider both. It also is a different take than Josh’s cars of Japan video doing the same. So it is helpful to people like me.

It was super helpful to me. 3 months ago, I was looking at the 2023 GX470. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago when I test drove the 550 and ordered one the same day. Not everyone is coming from a 470 to a 550 (I'm not), but these videos certainly help in choosing.

I want to know if anyone else works at that dealership.

I love the “exterior look” of the new GX but Lexus has lost its originality. The rear with the lightbar lights and spelled out Lexus badge is on every SUV now, see it in Ford, Chevy, Dodge and Lincoln and the front and overall look of the new GX is a Range Rover Defender k ok off.🙄. The interior of the new GX is plain and u luxurious like the 460. Fake wood looking plastic vs real wood lol. It’s like an overpriced 4Runner. But the biggest thing is all the negative reviews on the 550 from vibrating flimsy hood, rough engine rev and the THE BIGGEST 👎🏼….crappy new engine that’s a potential catastrophic kaboom and now being recalled. If you want one wait 3-4 years and don’t be one of the dumb ones who buy first run.
