Lexus, the luxury arm of Toyota, has never been afraid to go its own way. While most of the prestige marques decided that the cleanest and most economical approach to powering big cars was through diesel, Lexus thought otherwise. They decided instead to shun the diesel option and stick with a big petrol V6 but added a secret ingredient - an electric motor aiding the petrol unit. The result was the GS450h.
Today there are hybrids aplenty and it's a challenge to think back just a few years to a time when this technology was still the province of relatively small cars. Lexus showed how it could be done, blending proven but still advanced technology with classic V6 petrol power. The result is model that delivers all the merits of luxurious executive saloon motoring and highly respectable performance, along with admirable fuel economy and emissions. The Lexus reputation for excellent build quality has only been underscored by the hybrid's track record.

It's fitting for such a sleeper monster. Executive saloon for old people type of presence but then you kick down on the pedal and you are violating any modern 5 series or e klass that's not an M or AMG.

I just bought a lovely 2012 gs 450h f sport love it so far. V6 34hbhp rear wheel drive. Feels nice.

You wont be disappointed had mine since 2014(2012 8.5k mileage 30mths old,lease surrender-so great deal) mine 2011 model so also the faster model unlike this review - the stats based on the later model but the headlight configuration give away which model. Made to order so generally most 2012 were 2011 early model.
Love these my brother had 2 of there 2005 and 2006. Part of me still wants one
Comparing price and running costs to BMW, Audi and Mercedes is incomplete unless you factor in reliability and subsequent running costs once you get to month 37. Lexus is SO much more reliable and better engineered.
Can anyone tell me how far you can drive on just the battery. I got caught out by the fuel shortages and living in a village could not get to the shops and back. Would this work as a temporary solution?i probably need 20-30 miles. Is that possible ?

Oh dear I paid £2,500 for mine 3 weeks ago 06 on 126,000 mileage fully loaded with so many toys in built and few added toys and drives like a new car😄
