    @Ryan Rafter not as dramatically reduced as it seems. The extra distance is because almost the same butane is being shot out at a higher speed because it has to go through a smaller space before it gets to the distance for the right mix with oxygen to sustain its ignition. Note the difference in color; it's a smaller but higher energy flame now. Before it was a bigger lower energy flame.

    @@888edu4U yup. "To Nerf" has been a gamer term for a while meaning to lessen or completely remove something's effectiveness (in those cases, reducing one or more of a playable character or object's abilities with the introduction of something else; or an outright change to the character or object that lowers or removes an ability). I always figured it correlated with a Nerf gun being a toy gun hence not destructive.

    Can't decide what I like best about this guys videos; the original content, the clear demonstration and explanation of the subject, or the sometimes bonus observations he makes about the subject. In this case the plasma settling at the point where the laminar flow turns turbulent. Gives ya food for thought. I wonder if the flame causes turbulence by generating heat. Or does the inevitable turbulence cause the air/fuel conditions for the flame to occur? See? food for thought. Awesome video as usual. Getting BETTER over time!

    @@jeffo9396 it is all in the presentation. I wonder if you can add multiple flame sources, and play with the angles to create an effect that does not look like a party trick. Also fuel sources that alternate or move thru a spectrum could add some flare (punny) and colour to the illusion. I think I will try this for my weekend side project. The remaining portion would be how it is presented to the audience. A bit of stage-show and abracadabra - Magic.... SCIENCE!!

  • @jeffo9396

    @jeffo9396

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@DavidTJames-yq9dr If the presentation is done cleverly and properly, then it certainly has the potential to fool P&T. It just wouldn't fool them if you show them a floating flame and they know that it's a floating flame. Someone did a levitation trick on P&T's Fool Us a few years back, and they actually got fooled. I remember Penn saying something like, "There's only so many ways that you can levitate an object"... yet, the way that the performer did the trick was unique to them, so it fooled them. So yes, if a basic trick is performed in a clever enough way, then the end result would be very impressive and appear to be like a brand-new trick.

    This is actually helpful to me, because it is lunar new year from where im from and me and my relatives are celebrating it, we get to play with fireworks, fire crackers and such. And one common issue i encounter is that the flame burning from the string of said explosive can burn my fingers. So if i can extend the distance of the flame, this would fix my problem, thanks action lab

    when I saw the title I thought I remember doing this stuff as a kid I wonder if its the same thing or something different then I saw the lighter behind the box Edit we just increased the fuel delivered by taking the back off and moving the flame adjuster to max picking it up and moving it back to low and moving back to high again.
