53 yrs old and never brined a turkey because I thought it would make it salty. This thanksgiving I followed your recipe and the turkey was absolutely outstanding. Best turkey I’ve ever done and everyone raved about it. Thank you! Can’t wait to view more of your content.

I have never cooked a turkey but was asked by a friend to make one for our Friendsgiving. Looked for brines and used yours except I used white sugar. I brined in the bottom portion of a crab pot for 24 hrs. Then, I slathered a butter compote with rosemary and thyme all over the bird for another 24 hours. Ohhhh we, my friends loved it, and I was so proud. Now I'm being asked to make another one 😂.

Since she passed away my sister had been doing the turkey, but I'm hosting Christmas this year so I was taking the duty of brining the turkey. Your video is very helpful so that I can get an idea of what I was getting myself into. Much appreciation, sir. 😊

This is your BEST video where you really explain everything and you're not using a turkey brine product that many can't find or afford. You told us all the ingredients we need. Just wish you'd say the actual measurements of the pot and the ingredients. But men don't usually focus on that stuff anyways.

I've done brine before. I've waited 24 hours and noticed a little bit of a difference. This year, I tried your brine except I used pure maple syrup with it and also let it sit for 1 1/2 days. Boy oh boy! What a difference! I did notice a bit of saltiness, but not so much that it was a deal breaker. Came out juicy and flavorful. Best turkey I've ever done. Will definitely do again

Great recipe Ab! Brine is life. Ever since I brined my first turkey I have never looked back. The main reason for brining is to add moisture to the bird and make your cooking more forgiving to avoid getting that nasty dry turkey texture that you probably had in your younger years. Of course if you are infusing things in the bird you might as well impart some flavor in there. Brining will help your turkey no matter how you cook it afterwards (deep fry/smoke/oven/etc.) so give it a try.

I always put my brine in a ice bath in my sink to cool it. I don't like putting ice in the brine because I don't want to dilute it. Then keep the bucket in a cooler with ice to make sure it doesn't get warm. Sometimes we get those warm days in November. Nobody want a funky smelling turkey when you go to prep it for Thanksgiving morning

Not so much with Brining, but when my family makes Turkey soup, we use salted meat. We do a double boil on the salt meat, which basically means we boil the salted meat for about 20 minutes, dump the water and then boil it again for 20 minutes. Remove the salted meat and chop it up to mix with the soup. The reason we use salted meat instead of salt, is because it adds just a nice taste to the soup. I would imagine it would have the same effect for brining. The perfect salt level. We double boil it because the amount of salt in the meat is way too much. So on the 2nd boil it actually mellows out the stock to a nice flavor.

Hey AB.... really good tip.... I've never brined a turkey. I usually put the dry herbs, lemons and oranges inside the bird. I cook it breast down. Never to old to learn.... thanks for the video!!!💕

I brined my turkey legs in a Crystal Geyser gallon. Cut part of the top off, and put it back on after i added everything in. Saves on space and you don't have to buy anything. Even using that 2.5 water gal jug will work

While buying my turkey lady told me her brining method....get a bucket from Walmarts bakery. $1.00. (18lb turkey). The top has rubber gasket, you pop it close, you have to pry that baby off. The ice to cool the hot brine, and put in bucket to keep cold, is great tip. Lol keeping that in the fridge.
