Mark King, maestro. Always awe struck at his musical ability, playing the bass like an absolute boss and lead vocalist at the same time, now that's talent. Was playing level 42 in the car with the window down, stopped at traffic lights and the guy in the car next to me called out " absolute tune, more volume", so happily obliged.

Can't tell what's more impressive: the bass groove or the fact that he can sing while playing it

I've played bass for over 50 years, Mark is INCREDIBLE! Jaco Pastorius, Larry Graham, Paul McCartney, Stanley Clarke, Verdine White, (a few others LTD , Slave, Lakeside) Mark IS in that class. My GOODNESS he's phenomenal!!!!!!!!

Thoes words as you put it is Spot On Mark King is a Machine with the Bass and should be number 1 in the Bass charts and he isn't and I think it's wrong. Mark is a regular Bass Player in the Princess Trust House Band and why is that? Because He's The Best The Worlds Best and lastly Mark should be United By Her Majesty' The Queen and become Sir Mark King that Man fully Deserves It.

What and learn kids , this is how it was done in the 80s . It was a total blast for music and fashion , I am defo going back again next time round !!

Always loved this baseline.. still loving it in 2023 since '85

my cat's vet recommended this band to me and he said "pay attention to the bass line", when I heard it I was like "but this is a machine/synth bass line... oh wait--what??"

Can't decide who's more impresive- Mark on bass & vocals, or Mike on keyboard & falsetto vocals. Altogether- fabulous band!

1980-2022 when Level-42 reaches Level 42...such inspiring driving and never boring music over all these years with exceptional musicians . I was 22 when they started...and I'm still addicted.

Mark King the most underrated bass player & singer of all time I think not just 80s, but what a fantastic time to be a teenager and to get too hear & watch these types of videos when MTV was heck a good!

Level 42 went to another level when they added drummer Pete Ray biggin. Great call Mark.

I have noticed that EVERY PERFORMANCE is incredibly well done. These guys are truly remarkable.

Probably one of the best bassists. Still powerful in 2019.

Mark King is really special with a unique way of playing his bass guitar, but don't forget Phil Lynott, Victor Wooten, maybe Jacco Pastorius, all real good bass players with an unique talent.

I regret my lack of attention on Level 42 back in the 80s. What impressive musicianship.

Level 42 opened for Steve Winwood in the US around 1987. What a class act! They dropped off the Winwood tour to play a sold-out show at Wembley. Good lads!

You can’t make music like this anymore. These types of bands and singers are a dying breed and that is damn scary to me.

Saw them live about 7 years ago in Bristol. Took my disabled brother out of hospital after he had a stroke. Absolutely amazing. He died not long after. This has got me crying my eyes out. What a band.... Pure class
