What makes Mark King so special is,, Not only does he play some incredibly complex bass lines, but to sing at the same time I just out of this World. This is what puts him on another page from most other bassists out there. Total respect to the legend he really is. 🙏👏👏👏

@@chrisjenkins5846 I'm not convinced the 80s was a mess. In hindsight, I see the progressions, the mutations as well as the splintering of genres into sub-genres all going hand in hand with new technologies, new fascinations, new excesses and extravagances happening in quite logical and justifiable way. Even the halfway point of Live Aid was a neat and tidy watershed moment. Also how people looked and how fashion developed expressed the music in an illustrative, obvious way. If there was a messy decade in popular culture I'd say it was the 90s....what a lazy, messy trash can of postmodern litter that was.
Probaby one of the most underrated bands of all time.
Mark’s slapping and singing is incredible, however I give credit to Mike as well as his singing is great and the keyboard sounds are spot on. ✌️😙

Brilliance, Dignity, Courage and a willingness to help a charitable cause, despite the fact he probably felt dreadful. Rest In Peace Alan. 1953-1989.

Mark King...the THUMPINEST Englishman I’ve ever experienced! Great voice, too.
seeing really great players laying down legit grooves while simultaneously singing always amazes me.
I've now watched this video at least 50 times. It has everything: Great crafted song, incredible vocals including the three backing singers (who never seem to get recognized or identified as they were great!), rhythm extraordinaire, excellent musicianship, Mark's crazy ass slap basing, Mark's infectious smile, Mike's solid and not screechy falsetto and his engagement with the crowd, and beautiful Alan giving the music world a lesson in love as he plays in his final days. to me this one of the best live musical performances ever by any musical act.

Looking back, rock stages were far from healthy environments, especially for people on long tours. Those extremes of heat and cold in the winter, allied to very high SPLs onstage before the advent of in ear monitors have led to many long term and serious health problems such as tinnitus and respiratory disease.
Awesome.
