I have been in the trade for 28 years, 25 of those years I worked in construction. 3 years ago I moved to a specialty contractor and now do testing on medium and high voltage equipment. I can tell you you will get out of it what you put in to it. Last year I made $125k no college degree. Keep up the good work and great attitude you will make a great electrician. Safety is the most important part.

Ok thanks for the video. Glad to see they are adding Instrumentation to the Electrical training. And here is why-- 30years of electrical work in a plant environment but last 10 years was manly instrumentation work as programming PLC's, repairing circuit boards, soldering components and testing all kinds of circuits and gauges. In my province we have instrumentation journey persons and electrical journey persons. 2 different trades and I got roped into doing both. Take care and have fun.

In California, not all electrical trade schools are the same. Try to enroll you in one that’s certified by the state of California so you get a California Trainee card. The non certified schools won’t get you that. Once you have a trainee card you can work for any electrical company. Once you pass the course all you have to do is send a photocopy of your certificate to the state to renew it every year. And if you suck at math please get good at it because the trade involves lots of math & so does the Union. You would also need to had pass algebra in high school with a decent grade or taken it at a community college for a semester but the union also offers a go as you please online algebra course but if you’re like me you won’t learn anything.

Don’t worry too much about math, in my 28 years I can tell you as a construction electrician there’s no calculus. Maybe in the union school you need to use it but once your out you don’t use it. In the field it’s simple math like measuring something out. Taking 1/2” + 7/8” as a example. Don’t sweat it and you will get out of it what you put in it. It’s a great trade to be in
