Wow the difference in Beatrix is amazing!! Clearly you are doing a wonderful job for her, and the others, to see such a change. Sorry to hear things have been tough for you of late, but be assured that you are doing a fantastic job as caregivers to the lovely birds. Just don't forget to care for yourself too.

I think those who support you like seeing them no matter how they are acting. As you point out, they are animals and at times aren't always friendly. But that is who they are, and we love them. It is exciting seeing them grow over time, and it is exciting to be part of that journey.

Great idea to do a video warning about toucans and the smuggling of them. The story of Beatrix is much like Finding Nemo where there is a portion of the film showing the unhappy fish being stuck in the tank of a dentist office and the horrible little girl who is getting a new fish. Yet after the film came out, sales of clownfish and blue tangs went through the roof.

Beatrix looks and is acting a lot different then she was a year ago. You've done such an amazing job giving her the love and care that she deserves.

Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time recently. The birds look so well and healthy! You do such a great job with them and I love watching and hearing about their progress. Love from the UK.

I don't think you need to get your birds to "perform" so to speak, many people on your channel seem pretty happy just getting to see the birds being birds.

@@jmaneyapanda I think you misunderstood what I said, he can video the toucans without finding specific things to do with them (taste tests, new toys) and people will still happily watch and donate.

Big hugs for you and many, many thanks for everything you do for these birds! Even when they bite you. You must have tough fingers by now, lol. I think the moody stages will eventually pass. These birds are beautiful and fun to watch even if they don't do anything 'cute'. It's nice just to get to see real, live toucans being well cared for and hopping around being birds. I'm sure if they could understand, they'd tell you thanks for everything.

You care for them with all you have and they have every opportunity to live well, securely, and with trust. Dear Lord, it's a journey and a commitment for you AND the toucans you welcome into your home. You touch my heart and you're right, they're birds and we're humans - its not natural for us to live together in a home! Can you say 'bird brain'? If you accept this, then you better understand to allow them to be themselves. It requires LOTS of patience, a respect for life and the full-length of, and unconditional love. They had the “funnies”. I feel like all animals HAVE TO & need to get their funnies out or they will be moody & just overall not satisfied. Beautiful birds! Gorgeous. I def will never get one tho. With those beaks? No thank u. But grateful for pros like u who can provide for them! ❤️

It's good to see you and the birds again! The teen phase is always rough, no matter what kind of animal is going through it. Beatrix looks great though, and we know you're giving all your birds the best life you possibly can. I hope things start looking up!

3:40 I know that all too well. Worked as a falconer and had to go to people's homes to retrieve owls people bought as pets. Most common were barn owls but we also removed at least two snowy owls because, you guessed it, Harry Potter. They bought them as presents for kids and just fed them bread.

@@jmaneyapanda Yes I have a falconer's license. I'm from the Netherlands and at the time, it wasn't required to have a license to purchase birds like owls. (it was an oversight in the law). We were called by local law enforcement or animal control to remove these animals from people's home's. Either cause these people asked for it or because it was deemed animal cruelty. Laws have since then changed so one needs to be licensed to purchase and keep birds of prey. "Keeping birds of prey without licenses is a crime and is done by law enforcement. Not falconers." Not true. Keeping birds of prey is precisely what a falconer does. That's not law enforcement's job.

Shes sitting really close to you for a long period of time. Chillin there a little more like Toupac did. Taking toys out of your hand. I think shes doing a lot better! Her demeanor seems much less agitated. Maybe you should put a big branch over in that back corner. She's decided she wants to fly back there, but then has nowhere good to land. This whole life is difficult. Just remember you have 4 high maintenance basically wild non domesticated birds. Be mindful how much you can handle before seeking out more rescues. Its no good if you get overwhelmed. Depression and other health issues are real, and give us limitations, even when we want to expect more of ourselves. Dont beat yourself up for struggling in a demanding and unusual situation.

Oh my word it’s been such a while since I’ve checked in with your flock. I was shocked to see ms Beatrix hanging out in our old friends’ places. Absolutely inspired to help my rescue parrot a bit more after seeing this. Thank you for what you do. ❤️

Beatrix has transformed into a beautiful bird. She is now happy and relaxed. All your birds are healthy and content. They're hornery right now as they can't go out and play, but they will relax. You have done and continue to do a phenomenal job with them, often forgetting to put your needs into the mix. Without you, nothing works. So please take care of yourself and remember we watch the birds but also you. You are the important part of the videos. We all hold you close to our hearts for being a wonderful, kind, compassionate, patient, tender, determined, inquiring, intelligent person. And that's only a few adjectives I could use to describe you. Take care of yourself and find something to smile about each day. The sunshine in your heart will return.😘💖🤗

Some thoughts: 1) you are doing everything you can for the birds. 2) while Beatrix and Jade are certainly wild and should be in a flight as much as possible, Lalo and Rhea were not “rescues” and I think could be more like your pets than your true rescue birds. I don’t say this lightly. I think it’s something YOU NEED in your life. They are your companions! You of all people know how to interact with and be properly domestic with Rhea and Lalo. 3) Encanto is good but it has the Toucan in it for only about 5 minutes and it doesn’t have a name, nor is it a pet, I’m sure you’re glad to know. 4) I have you thought about hiring a helper or finding a volunteer to help with basic tasks? I think that could help relieve the burden for you and ease your mind about dealing with the hardships of a bird rescue. You probably don’t make enough now to hire someone but maybe a volunteer could cut fruit, prepare pellets, keep your supplies organized, make sure emergency bird cages are prepped, etc. Something to keep in mind for the future

Thanks for all your hard work taking care of Toucans. Rehabilitating and caring for wild animals can be a super tough job so i really don't mind that you're exhausted and posting less.

Videos can be cute and interesting without it being about your interaction with them. Could do a video on the drama amongst the birds, new toy introductions, new food choices, the journey to finding the fruits you need for them, do their colors change through out the year?, do they have a reaction if you do something non threatening but out of character (like laying on the ground), making and giving them puzzles (can be made out of card board boxes nothing fancy), a battle with fruit flies or your prevention methods, a conversation about having the multiple toucans together and can/do they harm each other, their reaction to a fountain, do they like baths (just a video of how each takes a bath), Collect all the different feathers and do a feather tour, visiting the zoo and seeing their toucan/s, do they react to things on the tv (what about footage of toucans or the sounds toucans make), Just some ideas off the top of my head. This is my second video of yours so not sure if anything has been covered yet. I have a very small channel (this is my personal account) and a chronic illness so I know the struggle with getting videos done. Maybe some of these ideas will help.

Maybe it's tough for them to be indoors after so much time outside. And maybe all the time on their own outside eroded their socialization with you.

Of course they are a burden, these birds are ton of work and it is okay to say that. We all know you love them anyway. Make more videos like this when they are being hormonal monsters to balance out the cute videos and discourage people from buying them. Beatrix looks amazing btw, look at clips from 2020 and celebrate your success in rehabilitating her. Hopefully that will cheer you up a bit.

You're doing great work! I'd actually like to see a top five reasons toucans are terrible pets. It not the kind of content that gets made enough for exotics... Or even certain breeds of dog, but it is important messaging and can be a fun education. I think you could make it fun 👍

Your work with those birds is like pouring all your energy into a friendship or a job, just to get the middle finger in return. Of course, that's exhausting and frustrating. I know animals can give you a lot in return, even if you can't cuddle, play, or talk with them. But maybe you need more or something else, and that's okay. Maybe you need a more rewarding task on the side, so you can get some emotional energy back.

Wow, look at Beatrix out in the living room owning her space! Shame shes braking her tail feathers again, nice Jade is getting hers to grow back. Dang, still going thru molts? Man thats got to be rough. Hope things ease up and settle down. Never heard of the movie tell recently and only just a general review. Sad they put a toucan in it what sounds like to me for cute points. Movie producers really aught to be more considerate on how they portray animals and the kind of influence it has to spotlight them in media and the impact it has on people wanting them, especially children orientated. I still see piss poor examples with even common fish and small "pocket" animals that are really irritating and do so much harm to others trying to promote better husbandry and get the general "knowledge" out of the stone age.
