I have 4 cats and I too sit around my house all day on my own with my cats 😂 they’re a lot more gentle though, I occasionally get some really intense cuddle puddles going on.

I have never seen Jamie and Dave laugh that much 😆 Brock has such a great sense of humor that’s perfect in group settings… it was so fun to see him with other humans for a change lol

Omnivores, their diet is mostly fruit based with a little bit of protein.

@@RiveroftheWither I was taking photos one day and watched one jump from one palm to the next to rob the nest of the baby chicks. All the other birds started screeching desperately so I did intervene with water. Not in my yard on my watch!!! I was a little horrified because I did not know they were omnivores. Amazing creatures and a true spectacle to watch fly with that huge beak!

Thankyou for doing this video!!! You have definitely told the public the truth. Toucans are definitely large avairy birds in captivity. Not a cage at a pet store. They are also very expensive to care for. And they definitely belong in the jungle. But for those already here, you nailed it well!! Hopefully this video will detour people from buying them at pet stores and finding out the hard way, and you guys don't have to rescue many more!! Awsome!! Thankyou for telling people the TRUTH, Mine got very aggressive when they got sexual mature, and I got attacked in the face, fingers, arms, head. They are Beautiful and unique creatures and that's what draws us to them But for there quality of life, they definitely don't belong in our homes. There are many other species of birds for that. Thankyou again!! Your heart in the right place!! Bless people like you, who can understand how difficult there maintenance is and housing and give the ones you rescue the best home possible ❤

This collab was awesome! The conversation, whether or not birds should be pets, is always controversial. I feel like generally owning a pet means you take away from that animals freedom. What I truly love about owning birds, is how having them forces you to learn how to respect an animal and even when you have that animal for a year, you are always forced to learn and improve this relationship to a lifelong companion. It can teach you to pay attention to healthy food, to vitamins and sugars and the importance of keeping the mind challenged and occupied and to also have tolerance for days where these animals can't help it with being hormonal or having a bad mood or something. It teaches us a lot about how we have to take care of them and to take care of ourselves, and dogs and cats don't seem to do that to that extend. So generally, I don't think anyone should own a toucan, but at the same time when someone does own a toucan and can take care of it, it really demonstrates years of love and work and saying yes to serious challenges, and I could never disrespect that by just deeming it wrong to own a toucan.

That was a fun interview w/ the Bird Tricks folks! You're getting super slick with the editing, too! Not sure if you can do it, but now that you hinted at it, I could totally see you fully embracing Toucan Carnage and creating a full video for Toucans: When The DOOM Music Kicks In!/Toucans Vs. The World! You'd definitely need a Strong Content Warning for your regular viewers & most might not get it or like it. Probably no monetization either, but it would be fun for the ones who do get it. :-) And sorry to hear about Rocko... :-(

With any animal, exotic or otherwise, you have to have a love for them so strong that you are committed to them and their well being. You have to be committed to treating them better than you treat yourself. There is no such thing as an easy pet. In most cases, an animal can be more demanding of your attention and money than a child would be. If anything, having raising a child is easier and cheaper. Vet bills alone are very expensive. And to make an animal comfortable and keep them happy and healthy both mentally and physically is extremely expensive. Birds are among the most expensive animals you can get. All birds are like feathery two-legged forms of many of the more popular working dog breeds. They need something to do and if you don’t give them that, then they may just find something to do and it may not be something that you like. They can become incredibly destructive and/or disruptive. Birds like macaws and parrots have enough bite force to take a finger off, even biting clean through a cast. The saddest thing about people buying their first “pet” is they don’t do any research or they don’t do enough research. Some of them stick it out, but they don’t give it their all, while others give up on it. Just to add to the sadness of this, some people in the trade refer to those animals as “trash pets” or a “throw-away pet”.

yes!!! I'm so psyched to see you "tou" do a colab! Both of you are some of my favorite "bird tube" people and I love seeing all y'all interact! And of course all of the 'cans are so funny! They don't make for good pets but they do make so many people happy and I'm so glad that Brock, you're here to rescue so many of these beautiful goons. RIP Rocko, like the other toucans that came before you you were such a good bird! This is also one of those vids that makes me wish I lived in Louisiana so I could be Brocks' friend irl bc he seems like such a fun, cool, good dude to be buddies with. Plus if I weren't a lesbian, I'd be super jealous of anybody Brock might partner up with bc he's obviously a steal . That joke about Rocko being affectionate with Jaime was choice. Haha, I saw the title and was like...did Brock lose his mind?? LOL This was a great video! A great funny explanation of the pitfalls of having toucans! (Btw, the flying scene made me laugh so much...reminded me of Bella when she was a baby! I was closing my eyes during that scene!) But, you guys are so right about not having the resources for these guys. It is the main reason I started my blog to help toucan caretakers access resources and information to help with their care.
