Let There Be Light. Was the light "good" or "beautiful"? Aramaic Bible Study Genesis 1:3-4
Can the Aramaic Targum traditions help us better understand the Hebrew the creation of light found in the book of Genesis?
The following is from my Aramaic Bible Study series, covering the third and fourth lines of the Bible, Genesis 1:3-4, in the various Aramaic Targum traditions, including the Syriac Peshitta. How can the Aramaic versions of Genesis 1:3-4 better inform our understanding of the verse?
Students of Bible Aramaic should naturally progress to reading the Aramaic Targums of the Old Testament, though few get the opportunity to do so. I hope by examining the Aramaic Targums, former students of Biblical Aramaic can reignite their Aramaic skills and develop new insights by reading texts that they would normally only read in Hebrew.

I associate נהורא more to نهار, day time. :)
Thank you. Targum Neofiti is quite interesting. I wonder if you have a video in which you introduce these different Targums.

That would be interesting - would save time on reading for the rest of us :D
What is interesting is that how close the Targum onkelos sounds compare with NENA, is this Targum written in Babylonian aramaic? Another thing to point out is that the word (kheshukha-ܚܫܘܟܐ) Which means darkness, in NENA dialects we usually pronounce it as (kheshka) the kaph letter maintains its hard sound for strange reason and that is unusual for this consonant.

We'd usually explain the hard pronunciation of kaph as a result of the syllable closure in the NENA accents, compared with leshana 'atiqa where it follows the waw, which is an open syllable (and thus, makes kaph go murkekhta).

Haha love it.
Just like biblical and historical evidence proves that jesus and his apostles were vegatarians biblical and historical evidence also proves that the trinity, atonement, original sin and hell are very late misinterpretations and are not supported by the early creed hence its not a part of Christianity I pray that Allah swt revives Christianity both inside and out preserves and protects it and makes its massage be witnessed by all people but at the right moment, place and time The secred text of the Bible says ye shall know them by their fruits So too that I say to my christian brothers and sisters be fruitful and multiply Best regards from a Muslim ( line of ismail )
