Fun fact. Shawarma comes from the Turkish word Çevirme. Which means rotation. The kebab in this video is Çağ kebap, you need to ask for more seasoning or sauces. Otherwise turkish kebabs prefer you taste the quality of the meat and fat. Coating meat in herbs makes you focus on the herbs and not the meat quality.

This is just one variety of Turkish kebab called "cağ kebabı", and it's mainly focused around the meat itself. The wrap is there to keep your hands clean, and you don't usually make "wrap" or "dürüm/döner" out of this like you'd traditionally do. You just eat it in small bites, as big as the individual cuts of meat itself. If you want real "döner" experience, look for the vertical spits, not horizontal. Also, I'd recommend you to try Adana kebab or Urfa kebab.

If you want it to be spicy go to a restaurant that makes food from Adana or just a "pide and kebap" based restaurant and you will definitely find Adana kebap there which the natives of Adana put EXTRA pepper or anything spicy over anything that can be consumed. And as a cherry on top you should drink Shalgam, I dont want to explain what it is drink it and find out :)

Shawarma comes from the word "çevirme" in Turkish. "Çevirme, döner" means "turning" and it refers to the big meat on the stick that you've seen. So chicken shawarma and the thing you ate "cağ kebabı" are both made from this big piece of meat and they're just variables of it, different types of kebab.

The economy is very, very bad, every day there is a raise and the weight of the products is reduced regardless of the product. The dollar was 20 lira only a few years ago, it was 5 TL and we could easily eat a doner or buy meat or buy something from abroad. Now it is all expensive and this is all. It also affects the grammar Sorry for bad english ı use translate ı less know english

Am from Turkey. What you're eating is a "döner kebap" or "et dürüm"(red meat wrap), we simply call it döner here. Yes it's a lot less saucey than a schwarma, but it's still pretty good, we simply love it for the meat and nothing else. What we refer to as a "kebap" here in Turkey is usually an "Adana kebap" or "Urfa kebap"(there are many kebap variations, these two are the most common ones so they earned the right to be called just kebap 😂) which are super seasoned beef-lamp mixture meat which is a lot better than any other meat. It's heaven. I hope you had a chance to try that out

Ngl i love the simpleness of this and especially i treasure good meat. These places can be a flop but also a top and if the meat is good, imma stay with this. Shwarma is prolly more like "Donas" in turkey, but i personally dont like the sauces on a kebab, and rather enjoy the taste of the meat. This one had a lil to less meat tho
