They got a lot better in 9th thanks to the fact that they now ignore moving and firing heavy weapons. I need to get more lol. Side note: Armored sentinels can take Plasma Cannons.

i dont like the idea of plasma cannons on the sentinels because they dont have plasma vents, so rolling a 1 is potentially 6 lost wounds and a whole unit.

I prefer using my sentinels with flamers and hunter-killer and in units of 3 models. First turn i use rokets with +2 to hit strat afterwards they become shocktroops that go into melee. They can easly block some units for a long time, and flamers ignore their 4+bs. + If you add custom regimet with self repair and reroll of the amout of shots die, they become very dangerous frontline

I run flamers on two separate sentinels, I use them to charge and lock up units in melee so the flamer is perfect for that

I’m bringing 9 to a tournament in October. Our HKs will block out the sun 😎

Did pretty good in 2019 with 9 armored sentinels protecting my tanks and artillery. Used my infantry to move around objective. Always have the chainsaw -1 ap has helped me out.....I think. Working on a list where I have as many armigers and sentinels, doubt that will go to a tournament however.

I'd run 3 3x3 scouts with 2AC+1Missle, and 3 3x3 Armored with 2AC+1Missle all armored sentinels with HK missles ~885points and pray to go first gets average 7 shots per squad/turn back them up with 1 TC + Pask + 2x full payload manticores 3x 55pt infantry squad 2x chimera HB 2x Command Squads(to man the Chimera's las array) 1 astropath

I like armored sentinels with heavy flamers. Their job is to run up the board and crowd my opponent. Flamers offset the BS4 and make them respectable and cheap targets. Thus if my opponent is shooting at them, they are not shooting at something more expensive. I don't really bring a lot of vehicles currently (because our tanks are over costed and get shot off the board turn 1)but in this edition and the last i've found my sentinels have done a lot of work. The mindset is you know the flamer sentinels will die but you try to make it so they hold the opponent up for a turn or 2 towards an objective.

Again, great conversion/kit bash. If i didn't already have a theme for my army I would steal those for the trio of sentinels I just got last week. Where did you get the servitor heads from? I image they are a GW product. I'm running my guard army as a hive/factory world defense force (lots of Victoria Miniatures Victorian Guard models and kitbashes, painted in 1870 Prussian Army colors). I am planning on kitting out my armored sentinels as hive police/security in that dark Prussian blue and gray and themed to look like the walker version of a police patrol car. I'll probably take the las cannon. Granted, the lighter guns are probably fluffier for a heavily militarized hive city police force, but I think the profile looks cool. Tthe hunter killer, and missile launcher though are right out! ;) But I'll be magnetizing them all for expeditionary work in the planet's abandoned chaos-infested factorum ruins, the vast underhive with it's lurking tyranid threat, and the orc occupied wilderness regions.

Hello :) I am thinking of starting a small project, a 500pt army with a mountain speciality theme : Sentinel, heavy weapons squads, maybe even ogryn/bullgryn. And as less tanks as possible (except the transport because of the wheels conversion). I would like to play "sentinels heavy" (between 2 and 6) with only 2 guards squads but I am struggling to understand how to balances weapons on this kind of list : Plasma rifle/pistol for the squads, heavy bolter for the heavy weapons squads and Lascanons for the armoured sentinels ? or Regular squads, mortar for the heavy weapons squad, heavy flamer for the scout sentinels and plasma canon for the armoured sentinels ?

If you plan on not bringing tanks, your going to struggle with taking down big stuff. Go with the Lascannon and Hunterkiller on the Sentinels and maybe even take a heavy weapon squad or two with all Lascannons. Guard squads can drown other enemy light infantry in fire, but you will struggle with elite infantry and marines without tanks. If you want to keep to the theme, plan your weapons around that and just have fun with it! Cheers, - Adam.
