    the best aspect of the CCP for me is displayed fantastically in the functional absurdity of the drip sneaker. the drips will obviously wear off and simply by wearing the garment you're destroying it, but that is exactly the point - it becomes yours physically as well as spiritually. i definitely think there's room in techwear for this kind of design, if anything it would be far more fitting for techwear than anything else due to its extremely functional quality. a shadow project jacket where the colours change over time in places of heavy articulation for example would be cool, something like this doesn't sound outside of the realm of possibility at all.

    totally agree! I couldn't think of a classic tech wear brand that would take such a risk though.. I think if a brand takes such an approach, customers need to be educated first that the piece they just bought might fall apart in the future lol.. to me it is the intersection between fashion and art but I understand that the majority of people don't appreciate that, especially considering that the item will eventually break down hence loose its value.

    This is exactly the video we needed about ccp, insightful and understanding of what the pieces are and try to be. also love the detail shots and in depth talking about the pieces, I only own one piece by ccp, LUC-PTC tornadoes (but mainly because I'm still a poor young student) and they are by far my favorite piece of clothing I've ever owned and I plan on expanding that collection as soon as I can, thank you for the video.

    The drip sneaker is a great metaphor for carols clothes, he and the clothes themselves in a way don’t want to be worn, and it’s uncomfortable and sometimes even destructive to the piece to be used as clothes. Just a totally singular vision for fashion and is still unmatched today or really will ever be

    As for techwear Its made by a machine it is souless But durable U give it the human touch by abusing it till it gains patina But for avantgarde its made by an artisan and fabrics/materials used are derived naturally showing scars/imperfections and feels natural to the touch unlike crispy techwear stuff So its quite cool man vs machine Or intergration of both natural and synthetic

  • @DavidMoseer

    @DavidMoseer

    Agreed man. I doubt most techwear stuff will get patina though. On the other side though I feel like techwear makes my life so mucb easier. Last winter I was wearing a Paul Harden coat which weighed like 5 kgs and didnt really keep me warm.. now I am wearing a down jacket that weighs 1/10 and keeps me insanely warm. So two sides to the coin I guess

    This techwear - avant garde topic is quite interesting. Especially when you say that you feel like you wanna protect those CCP pieces while wearing them, but they also have a used look from the get go, which makes the whole thing a bit funny lol. I would feel weird about being very careful about a piece that voluntarly embrace an aesthetic that embraces wear and tear. But then again, they're also very expensive.

    There are so many different CCP horse leathers (COIL-PTC, CORPIB-PCC, CORS-PTC, CORV-PTC, CUBA-PTC, CUBS-PTC, CUL-PTC) but to my knowledge, Cordovan is a bit thinner than Culatta even though it comes from the same parts of the horse (butt area). Also, difference in scaring and texture.

    To my knowledge, cordovan has become a catch-all term to refer to horse leather. Shell cordovan is the membrane under the skin at the butt. Culatta is a cut of horse hide that spans the butt, belly, and shanks, so you get these different textures on the same leather. Like in David's nados, there's the scarring, smooth, and suede all on the same hide. Great piece btw!

    Nice video man. Shame you didn't talk too much about his tailoring! That's his favorite, after all. He was raised doing leather work so while he is great at it, it isn't what he takes the greatest pride in. As for the fabrics, they aren't as bad as people claim - chainseam things are pretty anxiety inducing though. I wear his tailoring and jeans daily and haven't had too many issues. As for tech x artisanal, it's difficult but can be done. The essence of poell and the essence of tech are very similar, both pushing the boundaries of garment construction and the way it interacts with the wearer.

  • @DavidMoseer

    @DavidMoseer

    4 жыл бұрын

    Great comment man! The reason why I didnt talk about his tailoring is because I have only had CCP leather pieces in the past and I dont like to talk about what I havent experienced first hand. But I agree with you 100%! I talk about artisanal x tech a lot and I dont neccessarily mean one piece scoring in both categories. I also feel like its a nice challenge to mix both aesthetics as a consumer. But thats for a separate discussion I guess ✌🏼

  • @ulcus...

    @ulcus...

    @@DavidMoseer not saying the combination of the two in unity is the goal - rather that they share more connections and similarities than initially apparent. Behind the motivation of each often lies the desire to push the limits of garment construction. Shame you never got to own his tailoring - I'd certainly recommend it since it fits pretty well with techwear. A friend of mine wears it quite a bit and he's a big arcteryx fan. With the right fabric choices (I'd recommend WIM for this purpose) it can even be pretty comfortable.
