There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
New episodes twice a week on iHeartRadio.

5:08 God I wish Dave Rubin got a Bachelor's degree in political silence
I was initially mixing up Dave Rubin and Rick Rubin and was relieved when I was reminded who Dave was. This then evaporated as I remembered an ex coworker once asked me if I knew of/liked Dave as I reminded her of him. Mortifying.

Y'know, the suggestion that Hitler was left because he's, "an art loving vegetarian," really rams home the point how these conservative grifters really mistake aesthetic for substance.
One cannot simply do a Dave Rubin episode without doing the Dave Rubin voice. 😂
Every time JBP is mentioned, me: "Ah, before the necromantic ritual."
Ana Kasparian criticized Dave Rubin for flipping sides when it became profitable to do so. Oh, the fucking irony.
You got into why Dave Rubin 'thanked' Ben Affleck in his book. Ben Affleck was against Islamophobia on Bill Maher and Sam Harris rebutted him.
"Rubin is like Mussolini" there is one difference there though, Mussolini wasn't a dickriding failure. Dave, since I know you are reading this and seething, learn a real trade like flipping burgers
The ep hits different now, with Ana's and the Young Turks evident attempts to grift to the right

Jesus his crowd work is worse than his opinions
In some ways Dave Rubin is more frustrating and despicable than Ben Shapiro because as you said he doesn't have any true convictions so he will only ever be the king of selling out.
There were a whole bunch of 2016-era weirdos who went on and on about how they were 'Classical Liberals' as if that meant they were old-school Left-wingers. Classical Liberalism is a laissez-faire economic philosophy from the 19th century that has been associated with right-wing politics for decades. The 'Neoliberalism' of Reagan and Thatcher was called that because it was a revival of Classical Liberalism. I still don't know whether they all started to use that term as an elaborate troll against modern liberals, or whether they were just all really dumb and never looked up what it actually meant.
@rodneysmith873
3 ай бұрын
Right wingers calling themselves "classical liberals" or some variant of "centrist" or "moderate" is definitely a psyop to confuse normies.
I remember finding his show randomly when looking for new podcasts and news and he mentioned how he's a "classical liberal", but then I realized after a few videos that ALL of his guests are either right wing trolls, or claim to be "centrists" and they'd go on his show to spew right wing garbage. I checked the "all videos" list on his page and noticed it was a consistent theme, instantly unsubscribed

I'll give Ben Affleck this: I've consistently heard that he's an excellent tipper, and that's more than I can say about many people that certainly can afford to do so. I'm looking at you, Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippin, and the late Jimmy Buffett.
Lampreys get an awful lot of hatred.
Although I agree with everything said in this podcast Shereen says some weird shit, like nobody who's done shrooms calls it magic mushrooms? That's some bourgeoisie shit, like "how do you do, fellow working class people" come on...

That line actually really stuck out to me too. Both of them actually - when they were like "Someone who has only done cocaine would say that". I don't know Ruben obviously, but like - if he went to any gay parties I'm sure he had plenty of opportunity to try a variety of things. And he is an idiot - but if he is writing to an audience who hasn't done a lot of drugs calling it magic mushrooms might be more their speed.

As someone else with a political silence...err... science degree, the "classical liberal" thing is so blatantly pandering it kind of enrages me. Dennis Prager also claims to be a classical liberal. They're technically correct (the best kind of correct), and classical liberalism is a thing that exists - it's essentially center-right to right-wing, and largely resembles the US Libertarian Party. It's why if you go to any country that isn't the US, political parties that are "liberal" are usually right-wing (or, at most, centrist leaning towards right). As I recall, the liberal parties in Japan, Sweden, and Australia are all hard right-wing. But they're not using the term for that effect. They're using it to muddy the waters, building upon the erroneous common parlance that "liberal" means "leftist" to confuse things even more than they already are. Edit: Also, about the Affleck-Maher thing... I used to hate-watch that show; I actually watched that episode when it first aired and remember it pretty well... Affleck was wrong there. Bill Maher (as much as I detest him) and Sam Harris (also not really a fan) were talking about how Islamic theocracies like Saudi Arabia and Iran suppress the rights of their citizens- which is generally accurate- and went on to point out that "liberals" in the US tend to bristle when people point that out... and Affleck proved the point by immediately bristling at it. Maher wasn't saying all Muslims are anti-human rights, but Affleck immediately reacted as if he had, and accused him of being a racist.. There was nothing particularly controversial in what Maher/Harris said, but Affleck immediately went into ragemode and kept telling Maher he was a racist. The clip is still on youtube, you can see it for yourself. Is Maher an anti-muslim bigot? 100% yes, and there's plenty of clips out there of him proving it. But he wasn't actually saying anything to that effect in that confrontation.

This liberal thing is exactly what I wish more people could see. Same thing with centrist.
7:00 this Dave Rubin set is offensively bad -- not offensive in the way he would like to be seen, like, it's an offense to the concept of comedy.

He's pretty much a failed human.
10:51 - rubbish. It is easy to explain. The Armenian Genocide was brought about by the Three Pashas who in their youth had been part of the Young Turks but had then become dictators. Blaming the Young Turks for what the Three Pashas did is like blaming the French Revolution for Napoleon.
I remember when Rubin started his own show and I gave him a chance, because he labeled himself as a centrist and that's what I am. Took about 45 minutes to realize he isn't one. He's a right winger trying to grift people with the notion of being 'fair and balanced'. Just like Tim Pool. With content entirely aimed at trying to 'deprogram liberals' and make them at the very least, apathetic non-voters via the black pill. Bonus if you can convert them into Trump voters. So that only really leaves the remaining question; why is TYT a fake news outlet that's constructed of anti-establishment grifters? Cenk would deny that. Ana would deny that. But every fucking person who leaves that show takes the mask off. That's interesting. That whole media space really does go to the Alex Jones school of broadcasting.
