Learning the riffs of your favorite artists is a cool way to understand their style and how they think about the music they're making. Practicing those riffs brings us closer to their music and also helps us understand the technical requirements of their songs. For this video I transcribed three riffs from three very popular (and very awesome!) vocaliststs:
Riff one is taken from Beyoncé's song Drunk in Love
Riffs two is taken from Sam Smith's Lay Me Down
Riffs three is taken from Queen's Somebody to Love
The specific harmonization and rhythm is adjusted in order to facilitate using them as vocalization practices. Enjoy!!

    If I may say so, you've come to the right place. Don't take my word for it though, work through the videos, practicing a bit every day, and let me know how things go. That being said, if you're new to singing or singing technique, this is a difficult video to start with. It's about more than just hitting the notes. I would suggest you begin here: kzread.info/head/PL2mQP7sE6PHg8wjZBjfJ3HGVqjxBF2swE

  • @JeffRolka

    You might experiment with where you take your breaths - or - if you take them mid-phrase. Both practices could be helpful in real-world song implementation! Jeff

    Quick question. How much time before singing should you start warming up? Can I warm up 3/4 hours before singing? And then can I use different warmups just as exercises for the days I do not sing?

  • @JeffRolka

    @JeffRolka

    2 жыл бұрын

    It really depends on your needs. For some, warming up that much in advance might work just fine. For me, it wouldn't be so good. Experiment a bit and see how it suits you. Jeff

    Yes, but those would be on soprano videos. I don't title them that way, though some of the extended range videos get to that area. Best, Jeff

    Thanks for subscribing - it depends on several factors, not the least of which is how your voice is operating before that changeover. For more information about the general ranges of things though, you can find that out here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fach
