🚲 Let's Ride!! Finishing Touches and Speed Runs \\ Enduro - DIY Build! \\ QS273 70Ah

Part 15 The FINAL episode!! It's finished!
Ok so this is my 2nd ebike that I put away for a few years because I used some of the parts to make my 3rd ebike which you guys can check out here: • 🚲 Custom 5000W Digi-Ca...
This is it guys, the moment I have been waiting for - the finale!
We tackle a lot of little things in this one, just buttoning up and tying off all the loose ends. First I had some issues with programming, but I figured it out after a lot of troubleshooting.
Next I install some titanium plated screws for that golden glow, and then address the two panels that are not fitting right. After that I take care of the hot glue that wasn't doing as well as I'd like, so superglue it is for the foam pads.
Then I experiment with a new placard design as well as another edge lit logo for the swingarm, it came out pretty good! With everything taken care of and all the panels on, it's finally time to RIDE!
This this is an absolute beast of a bike, the acceleration is such an amazing rush, it's exhilarating - completely! This amount of power is absolutely overkill but it is oh so fun. I did do some speed runs and hit 60MPH, which I was a bit surprised because with this power it should go a bit faster, but I don't think it's the power that is limiting it, I did try to troubleshoot things that could be affecting the top end, but couldn't come up with anything so far. It's still way too fast and extremely dangerous to go this fast, but for science I do want to maybe see if I can push it a bit more.
I couldn't be happier with how this came out, the power, the speed, the aesthetics, the battery size - I didn't even go over the range in the video, it should go easily 60 miles, probably more!
Thank you guys for watching, I have more projects coming up - stay tuned!!

\\ Hex Camo E-bike V9.0 - QS273 \\
This has been a long time in the making, I've been wanting to remake this build for about 3 years now and it was always my plan to replace the older smaller battery with one that could do the motor justice.
1. The Frame
This is an older frame from China that was very cheap - it's burly, heavy and should hold up to the power that I'm putting through it. The swingarm on this one is super beefy compared to the EEB version, but the trade off is that it is a lot heavier.
2. The Battery
Custom made GTK pack, 70Ah, 72V, 200A BMS. It has two 150A Anderson plugs with 2 8G wires per pole!
3. The Controller
Not shown yet, but it's a Sabvoton SVMC72200 200A controller, it's fully programmable with regen braking.
4. The Motor
It's a QS273 V3 - T3 motor from QS. Rater for 8000W but you can push these much higher as they are huge and heavy and can handle a ton of power, a lot more than the QS205s but there is a weight penalty.

sickest ebike build on YT, hands down. i know, ive watched every one worth watching. im almost sad to see this series end, but i cant wait to see what you do next! 60 MPH is perfect. i have noticed that speed has somehow become the metric we judge ebikes by, but i find many faults in that. comfort, aesthetics, build quality, dependability, range, etc are equally as important.

Thanks so much, it means a lot! 🙏 I can't believe it's over (for now, I probably will do even more things later on though 😂) I think 60MPH is way more than I will ever need for just having fun, and I fully agree there are so many other things to like about bikes and they all come into play about what makes one great. I think ebikes are best in the range of 25-45MPH really, if you want to go faster there are cheaper and easier methods (solutions that make more sense) for doing so. Thank you!!

Amazing man! I have the same display. As some have suggested, the code 1801 works to allow a top speed change in the menu but it doesn't actually translate into more top speed on the road. It's sort of "ghost governing" a max top speed on us. I found a way around that. Go into your menu and change your wheel size to a much smaller one. It'll spin the wheel at a higher rpm to get the bike up to what it thinks is the same governed speed. I verified this with GPS tonight actually. In my case I have a GT Avalanche hardtail with 3000W, 72V (4500W peak) hub kit. 81lbs. It wasn't letting me go over 80KM/h. -Probably a good thing. I changed my wheel size to a much smaller one and using GPS, got it just over 90 before I chickened out. Obviously the main drawback is your display speedo isn't going to read accurately. Doing 90+ k on a MTB isn't a great time for quick math either. But for a top speed run or highway cruising, it's a workaround... stay safe!

  • @hightech-lowlife

    @hightech-lowlife

    Жыл бұрын

Thanks so much man!! I appreciate the suggestions truly! I did try this though, my controller firmware actually goes up to 150kph (93mph) in the settings, so I don't believe this is limiting it. I can try messing with the wheel size anyway just to see but my bet is that it's not the controller limiting it 👍 That's an awesome bike you have, I almost couldn't do the 60mph myself as it feels like you're going 1000! A lot of people don't understand how fast that is on a bike, they just imagine what it's like in a car and think it's the same but it's completely different. Thank you so much for watching and the feedback!!

Congrats on finishing it. It does look mad cool. I would have to flag you down and check it out if I saw you riding. I bet the power is really fun… just be careful… I have much less power and it’s more than enough for that frame to be safe. Please don't sell yourself short, I feel like a hack myself when I compare myself to others, but everyone goes at their own pace and as long as you have a passion to learn and grow you can achieve anything you want and more. You could easily hit 80 mph by using a lower turn motor but this would reduce your low-end acceleration. The battery and controller are fine but the motor is what is holding you back. You could also use a much lighter motor such as the Qs205 with heat sinks and ferrofluid, i know you are running a lot of power but I have build bikes with twice the power and the Qs205 motor is still running strong. (Btw, I’m sure you already know all about this stuff because you clearly aren’t a newbie)

  • @hightech-lowlife

This motor is the 3.5T version, so it's already the lowest available which made me wonder why it seems to be limited to 60. @@BH4x0r Thanks man! Yeah I'm talking to QS engineers about it, seeing if they know of any settings that might bump it up, I think we're narrowing it down to RPM limitation. Voltage will definitely help increase RPM (top speed). I'm not sure if more amps will help (but could probably achieve some speed boost) 60mph is already too fast, and honestly not a speed I'd be comfortable going during normal riding (or ever). I just had it in my head to have a 70-ish mph bike, so I'll find a way, even if it's only purpose is to understand more. If I don't sell this bike then I will be redoing the front and rear suspension, seat area, and making my own battery (I'll use this current beast of a battery for a different project) - I will bump up the voltage to a 96 or 120v (144v?) system, and try for even more amps, they do make an 1800A controller, but I don't know what kind of a battery I would need to make to utilize that. 👍200A is already way overkill, and admittedly all of this is largely pointless, but usually the best ideas are the dumbest ones.

Love your videos ! I've watched them over and over and I don't get tired of watching. We have a lot in common. As I watch I see things that you've purchased that I've purchased also. It's uncanny. What I need to know is what charge connection you used and what display you use. I'm building a dual motor 1500 watt each with a twist throttle on the back and a thumb throttle on the front. Dual controllers and batteries. 60volt batteries, and two Sabvoton SVMC7245 (m) Controllers. I'm not looking for insane speed but dependable reliability. Having two batteries, I will need two charge connectors. As for the display...I just want the option of a display if I decide to go with a display at all. Do you know where I can download the software for my laptop instead of the app for the controllers ? Another thing is how can I contribute financially to what you do. You've given me so much inspiration and boosted my confidence so much that I would like to make a contribution to show my gratitude..

Thanks a lot man, it means a lot 🙏If you're buying these parts you're in the right direction because this bike is ridiculously awesome! Ok for my charging port I use this: www.ebay.com/itm/122857358641 it's pricey but it's really nice For the display it's a UKC1 display: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802792010271.html you have to make sure it will work with your controller though because even within the UKC1 line (literally the same display) some are set up for different controllers in different ways internally. I usually only buy the display and controller together as a kit so I know for sure they will work together 👍 Yes, go here for the apps: sabvoton.net/pages/download-information If you do want to support, I have a patreon and donation links in the description of my vids, please know that it's not required though I would give you guys all the info I know for free to help out. @@mashehab It's no problem 👍No need to feel embarrassed at all. Yes, most likely he had a "mid drive" bike where the motor is engaged with the bicycle gears/chain - this is a different way of powering the rear wheel. For me it would not make a difference because the way this system works is that the motor is the wheel itself and the magnets spin the axle directly (direct drive).

The bike turned out absolutely amazing. Get us some shot of a night ride with all the LED's. Truthfully. 80mph on 72V? It wont happen. Those guys bare look at their incorrectly calibrated speedometers. Show mt 80MPH on a GPS. You need more voltage. You can go a little faster with a higher current controller and more field weakening. Mine goes 62mph on a 205 V3 with an asi bac 8000. After a certain point you just heading the motor because the windings are saturated. 60ish MPH is right where most of the builds are.

  • @hightech-lowlife

Thanks so much man!! I'll take some night ride shots for you guys 👍 I was hoping for 67mph, shouldn't be impossible to hit but also might not be worth it because 99.9% of the time I won't ever be going full speed. That's also what I don't trust - a lot of people will claim crazy speeds but without GPS proof it's impossible to really know. I may end up further improving this bike in the future, and in will go a 600A (or 800A) controller and obviously I'll need an even more powerful battery 👍 It's weird because I hit 54mph with my 205 (50A bms on the battery) and this is only 6mph faster, but it's a crazy amount of more power (200A) compared, that's why I felt like my 67 goal was not too far off, it's still possible there is a setting that is holding me back. I did experiment with field weakening, I tried 25A, 50A and even 150A and there was no difference in top speed, and that also leads me to believe that I'm not hitting the limit to where FW would come into play. I'm going to look into adjusting my throttle endpoints, it's possible my "full throttle" is only 95 or 90% of what is available. I'm completely happy with 60MPH don't get me wrong, it's more of just curiosity now that has me attempting to figure it out, it's totally possible that this is just the limit though. Thanks for watching and the feedback, much appreciated 🍻

I have seen in a video claiming that some motors are more for bottom torque(less speed) and some are less torque and ...higher speeds. 2. Thanks man!! Yes, different turns will net you higher RPM at expense of torque, my motor is 3.5T which is closer to higher RPM (but still has insane torque), they do make a 2.5T model which should be slightly faster. 2.5T higher top speed, less torque 5.0T higher torque, less top speed You want as large of BMS discharge as your controller can handle, if you can get a battery with even more it's fine, if you go under then you risk tripping the protection and you'll have to lower your settings in the controller. 👍
