When you see what could be the greatest board game ever made and you realize-1. You have no friends who would pay it with you and B. You're pretty sure you don't have the mental acumen to play it even if you could. Looks amazing.

Omg this game was made in a lab for me. A sub simulation, co op, tension you can taste, count me in.

Definitely think there should be a mechanic to pump flooded rooms clear. U-boots had pumps and I'd imagine they could clear any water that was not catastrophic.

This was really fun to watch.

If you want to add a little more role playing depth being in a german Uboat just a few suggestions. When adressing the Captain it is: "Herr Kaleun" (= Kapitänsleutnant; engl. captain leutenant) Or "Jawohl Herr Kaleun!" when acknowledging. Spoken engl. Ka-loin First Officer is called 1WO (1. Wachoffizier; engl. First officer of the watch) Spoken engl. Ayens-way-o The Chief engineer is called "LI" (Leitender Ingenieur; engl. Chief engineer Spoken engl. EL-Eee The Navigator would be called "Obersteuermann" (engl. Chief helmsmen) Spoken engl. O-bear-sh-toi-er-man Sh is spoken like in "shit" and man like a jamaican accent of saying man. Great game! Will get it myself soon! 👍👍👍

Got the game today !! And it's aaaaaaaaaaawesomeeeeeeeee !!!!!!

I suddenly feel a bit better about my short service in the Kriegsmarine... admittedly, in the training mission we got rammed by a Royal Navy Destroyer but, on our first patrol we managed to sink a 2.500 ton freighter, got depth charged once with one sealed breach and fire and two leaks. But we also managed to do a weather report, take parts to a stricken U-Boot and did some sightseeing off the coast of the Shetlands!

This game looks like it was perfectly designed to be exactly what I want in a game.

Watched the whole video! Very cool concept and very engaging design. Looking forward to this and wishing an already wildly successful campaign good fortune in its remaining week! The team seems to have struck gold on this one.

I also just got the game and was actually a bit confused on how to deal with a technical condition in an unoccupied space. Does the Captain have to issue a mobilize order to move for the repair? Or is the move an activation and a second (with order) to be busy with the repair? Or is the move and repair covered under the repair order?

Got me to reinstall Silent Hunter 3 (HOURS OF fiddling getting it to work on modern PC).. will be eagerly awaiting the day I can stop in at the local store and set up a pub night with friends! One of the first board games I've been excited for recently... ! Looks absolutely incredible.

I'm curious to know where the sub's final location was. The original mission was to arrive at map coordinate 14. With all the chasing and course changes just wondering how trying to sink a convoy affects your position. Looks like a fun game if you somehow can get the right four people together.

What an amazing looking game. I rarely get the chance of 3 other people at the same time though. But I really like the idea of it. I can see a computer version working quite well as well.

Uboot is a Franchise wich started as a PC game... neither PC or board versions are released yet(PC for Q2/2018), and they are not totally related.

Is the speech in the handy app deactivatable?

That's a very cool lets play! You can touch the tension! Very nice. Does your speed influence the detection range for other ships, due too cavitation and stuff? Is there an "all quiet" order? Maybe have an action penalty, but detection from passive scanners gets near impossible?

Yes, we will be implementing passive sonar (hydrophone) for the escorts, so yes - silent running will make a difference. But the best thing is that we are plannin a noise detector in the app for when the escorts are searching for you :) If you make too much noise, they might notice it...

Have you thought about having a way to play 2 subs at the same time? Sync the app and do a wolfpack. Don't know how it would work, but the idea sounds fun

can the app game announcement language be in English or just German?

Is it just me missing it or does the chef forget to make food? And what about the guy plotting the course? As soon as you had contact with the destroyers, he forgets to plot?

I know it’s been 2 years but I believe I can answer your questions. On food, keep in mind that their whole game was around 24 hours total so they really only had to eat once. Of course, longer missions would require you to have more food. Then, with them forgetting to plot, that was legitimate forgetting. It was a big risk to not be plotting, since they could suddenly crash onto shore. However, the game is done in real time and as such it wasn’t super high on their priorities when they were trying to take down enemy ships. Besides, they were already about to be taken down anyways and so crashing wouldn’t be too far off from their current fate.

@ 45 mins after being hit flooded and with a fire why couldn't they get to a safe distance, surface put out the fires . transfer the crew from the stern over the deck transfer teh fire extinguisher over the deck to the stern and then pump out the flooded section?

When can I play? This game looks fantastic.

Great video! If you like this game, you should check out GMT Wolfpack: The north Atlantic convoy struggles on P500. It’s puts you in command of a Wolfpack charging into a convoy. It is a solo or up to four player game where Coordination is key to a clean sweep of an enemy convoy.

Outstanding (tense) playthrough. Enjoyable to watch. I like it a lot.....however, covid and work schedule makes it hard to find 4 to play. If the app could be upgraded to include a solo and 2 player mode where the app would allow you to assign AI to control some features allowing you and/or a friend to manually play your choice of position(s) I'd buy it and you'd sell more. Playing solo all 4 positions might be a bit much under the tight reaction time constraints. Please consider if a reprint. Prost to thinking outside the norm with this innovative design guys.

so from what i ve learned is: the captain should sit next to the navigator^^

One of the most frustrating games I've played. You sail with a thoroughly lethargic crew each of whom become exhausted after completing just 3 tasks on their watch. So you'll find yourself dragging the helmsmen out their chairs because that destroyer isn't enough motivation to attempt a 4th change of heading. If I had the option of using my sidearm on them I would have. And if you issue too many orders the crew morale plummets, which triggers increasingly bad random events. Eventually you reach the stage when simply ordering a crewman onto the bridge results in your boat catching fire. A few hours out from Germany and I'm wanting to send out a Mayday. Surely the Kreigsmarine were a bit more resilient than this. And there's cooking in it...joy. Having said all that, it is fun, looks great, and I'd happily try it again. Just need to book an appointment with my therapist and pop a few happy pills first.

Should have had a tv screen at the end of the table and casted the phone to tv. would be a better feel I think, and everyone can see whats happening. Awesome game!

The horizon, from the average height of a warship's bridge is about 12 miles. A u-boat surfacing 4 miles away should be visible plain-as-day. Maybe the app is more accurate than they realized?

Wow.......

Observe through the app? With electronic elements, this is no longer a strictly table top game. It also seems to have a steep learning curve for new players, making it difficult to entice others-who may not be as interested in tabletop gaming-to play. Not saying it's a bad game, but it's _very_ niche.

It looks fascinating but I'm worried about the accelerated time-scale of the app verses the "normal" time experienced by the players (not the compressed time used to temporarily speed the game during moments of rest.) At regular speed, 6 hours still seems to occur every 5-10 minutes (hard to tell for sure), so players having even a quick rules question could eat up an hour of simulated game time. Similarly, even the placing of all the tokens and drawing of morale cards when sh!t hit the fan early in the game soaks up several hours of simulated time. Is there some way (or some consideration being made) to let players slow or even pause the app to process the data that the app is presenting? Even just the brief ability to slow the app to 1:1 scale with real time gives them time to place markers and draw/read/manage card draws. Obviously the trade-off is that players would have to wait longer to get their order tracker reset, so they wouldn't want to stay at 1:1 for very long or else they'd run the morale track sky-high in no time. I'm especially worried about 1-2 players games where - I'm assuming - the duties of 2 characters get tasked to 1 player. I suspect it'd get stressful to the point of simply not being fun. (Makes me think of the end of Shut Up & Sit Down's video review of XCOM, where Paul briefly simulated a solo game and made it look like no fun at all...) Not knocking the game at all - it really looks engaging and, while the app looks like it needs some polish still, the general gameplay looks exciting and challenging - I like how there's some realism to it, with the navigator and the shift changes and of course the app...

the app has in the options two game-speeds;"real time" and "action".i don't know if thesee can be changed during play but real time should give more time to decide and perform actions.

Having four different mechanical features for each of the 4 players, gives this game fresh look every time you swap positions. The app I feel needs more work and I like to see computer version (Love to have the sound through amp speakers giving more drama.) Apps always will be updated with new graphics/sounds and scenario features also makes game new and fresh. Really keen to play, just hard to find 4 players :P Campaign features will be cool to. I hope you do well in kickstarter.

This would require a pause button for me to play which i believe it is getting now, i believe it was a stretch goal. I really want this, I've wanted a sub game for a while but the 8 player Captain Sonar is pretty pointless, 4 players is the max i can assemble. I just dunno if my gaming buddies will be into this... Rahdo was selling this to me but after watching this play through i'm not so sure :/ Navigation and First Officer looks fun but Engineering and Captain looks a little boring...

In a real-time game like this, I'd be worried about accidentally breaking the rules in times of panic.

It will be very easy to break the rules i think. Thinking your guys have an ability which they don't, this is mainly due to the shift change.

They should put the soundtrack of "Das Boot" on the app to complete the atmosphere. Although as a native German speaker, I find the voices a bit cheesy at times.

Layla Gordn PLUS, the game is not complicated. One role is 10 minutes of explaining the rules. 13 year old boy at Essen Spiel was one of the best First Officers we've ever seen.

Great but I thought Silent Hunter was slow!

looks really interesting, like the u-boat (wow, there is a u-boat?! cool) and all the components that make the game so real. the game remind me the space cadet game. but one thing which I can not take is, since when dose the Capitain ask, can you move someone to some where?

Please make the app compatible with Windows laptops. This will both make it easier for everyone to see what's going on without having to connect a mobile phone to a larger monitor and will ensure the longlivety of the application.

playing Uboat the video game witch is now in beta version B125 and have been tempting to get the board game but i don't know anyone with interest in uboats :( i would have killed the fire asap, to big of a risk :p still great match guys :)

ALL those orders for every little thing! when a U Boot surfaced the lookouts Automatically went topside....And they didn't just wait around doing nothing till ordered to observe... I think all the giving of orders and receiving orders tracking stuff is Way tedious....what does it represent anyway?? The captain runs out of breath if he gives too many orders?!?! I can understand tracking progress of a job...like a repair or something and handing out chocolate and pep talks in the middle of Multiple emergencies and during an attack??

this heavy app use makes me think that you might as well just play a pc game to avoid having to fiddle with the tokens.

Game looks great but also looks too complicated to convince myself and friends to buy and play.

I was interested in the game a few minutes. As long as i was thinking "cool, a 2 vs 2 submarine game. " But when i learned it is co-op and it is using app, i am not interested in it anymore. But that's good. There are too many kickstarters to back at the beginning of the year anyhow.
