    Sometimes, with all the stuff you have, it’s useful to listen to it through someone else’s experience. You made me re-discover Straylight all over again. Thanks for that! P.s. Hearing it for the second time, I finally got the Switzerland joke. LOL! You sure know how to deliver a joke!

    I use Haunted Spaces quite a bit and wasn't sure I needed something else in the same vein. After watching your video I realized that Straylight is really it's own thing and well worth the investment. Another excellent review, Jeff.

    @@ManchesterMusic for sure man. their photosynthesis packs are gold and they are super cheap. check out the epic trailer pack (i think it's 5 bucks) and the multiverse pack too... tons of amazing huge sounds if you're working anything trailer-esque. when you combine those sounds with stuff like Straylight, the possibilities are endless. would love to hear what you think if you give them a go.

    omg i need this , i met a composer using this all the time, he's using this and Aparillo synth with Oracle X from Mntra for like all his ambience stuff and then sometimes that Spitfire library that is textures. I prefer the Heavyocity stuff for textures for strings. But this Straylight thing is awesome, I need this.

    I've been using Reaktor Form to do pretty much this for some time now, I really love the sound. I think I would use this for mostly textures (from listening to your demos), and maybe Form for more melodic work.

    Very impressive library. This will be a great instrument for sound design, I believe it's the granular element that makes this stand out. Acompanied by the vast preset and sound library already provided. I do agree it will take some extra HP and LP filtering to really mold specific sonic territory here. However, it can be easily worked around.

    Great video! Quick question! This is in regards to Kontakt instruments. I would like to know the steps necessary to remove the default panning effect generated by key positioning. For example, with Straylight, I have the preset called "As Wide As" loaded. When I press a key on the right side of my midi keyboard, it sounds louder on my right headphone; the same goes for the left side. The problem arises if the project I am working on consists primarily of lower pitches (causing the left headphone or speaker to be louder) or consists primarily of higher pitches (causing the right headphone or speaker to be louder). This causes the track to sound disproportionate when I want it to sound evenly distributed between both headphones or speakers. I want a centered sound instead of a sound dictated by key positioning. I've researched tutorials and gone through the Kontakt manual, but I can't seem to figure it out. How can I resolve this? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

    hello, thank you very much for this, please, I don't find an answer for my question , maybe you can hep: I tried Straylight at a friends home studio but when recording messing around with the parameters while recording, the effects while playing where lost in the midi recording playback, what did I wrong? (was in Logic pro too) thanks a lot for your answer

  • @ManchesterMusic

    @ManchesterMusic

    By lost do you mean the automation wasn’t recorded? You need to enable automation recording as well as arming the track to record the midi. You can record automation in write, touch or latch mode.

    omni is great and all but i feel like the engine itself sounds dated. 99% of the time i do trailer music and there are just a few sounds that really inspire me. of course i could cook my own fx but often i have tight deadlines (3-6hrs) so i often take presets and tweak them. I don´t know why but yea..as i said it often sounds "dated". I prefer the crystal clear sound-engine from serum for example.

    derek jurovich someone put that question on the NI website and the answer was ‘we put i7 on the min specs for a reason’. I’ve also heard you need closer to 4ghz and closer to 2ghz not so good. I’m on an i5 2.4 and think I’ll give this a miss as I can see it having issues and I have to freeze tracks enough as it is. Sounds great tho and great review btw
