Let's look at my small vintage & antique quilt collection...

Hi everyone and welcome to my channel! As my Husband and I continue to stay home, we started to create stacks of "things" that will become topics of future YT videos. Today I wanted to show off and talk about our small collection of vintage and antique quilts.
As I watch the edited video for the 4th time, I did find an error regarding the value of one of our quilts. To simplify the issue, based on appraiser input, I will say that the quilt's value is between $400 and $800 dollars, depending on condition and any restoration efforts we make.
I also promised the recipe for what I soak old quilts in that are badly stained. Remember, only wash vintage or antique quilts if absolutely necessary as the washing does some damage. Anyway, here is the recipe:
- 1/2 cup Cascade Dishwashing Powder
- 1/2 cup Biz
- 1/2 up Oxyclean
- 5 gal clean (filtered if possible) water
- a big sink to soak a quilt in
Thanks again for stopping by and best wishes!

You should definitely hand quilt your hexagon quilt! I just finished a queen sized Grandmothers Flower Garden quilt. My sister hand quilted it and it is BEAUTIFUL! In my opinion, a hand pieced top deserves hand quilting. I enjoyed watching your video this morning.

Thank you for sharing your lovely collection. How lucky you are to have a husband who seems to share in your passion. I love seeing all of the old quilts. I have a bad too but have never come along just tops. What a great idea to frame an old block too. I am currently making an EPP grandmother garden for myself and i too am wondering about the quilting when it is done. I think that if i had my own long arm i would probably do a very open soft pattern . These quilts are hand pieced and indeed precious so maybe machine quilting would be helpful to make the quilt last longer . If you love hand stiting however ...that would be a real labour of love. I am looking for suggestions as well. Good luck.💟
